I'm 82 and ride a 2019 Rad Rover around the Mojave Desert in Southern California where my home is.. This is an honest review why the Rad Rover may not be for you. The Rover is a big, heavy piece of well engineered machinery. The bike is definitely for me. I love it, and expect to be riding it up to the time I vacate this world. I'm quite sure the bike will still be in excellent condition after I'm gone and I expect my heirs will squabble about who gets the bike after I'm six feet under. lol.
First..no single bike is for everyone. The Rover is a real workhorse. The F350 of electric bikes. I have had this bad boy for 10 months and 1880 miles on the odometer. I am 6ft 1/2 in and weighed 234.. I haven’t shrunk in the past 10 months..but I weigh 217 today..blood pressure down, A1C down..cholesterol down.. I couldn’t physically handle the work without the flexibility of pedal assist. This bike is just plain fun! I can’t end this without talking about the company..I love the personal service..talking to someone in Seattle..getting through to a person, even during this pandemic..priceless! Last we ek the motor went kaput..one call..email a video of the problem ..talked on phone.. and 6 days later a brand new rear wheel assembly arrived..COMPLETE..new tire and all..WOW..,their warranty is the best you will find..just try.
Thanks for your post. I just ordered the rover step through, I'm over 250lbs and need to lose weight and get bp down. I appreciate hearing your view of losing weight, that's my reasoning for getting this bike to force me to get out and ride and pedal. Thanks
Based on my experience with the Rover, the Mini, and the MiniST, I totally agree with your assessment. I have a 2017 Rover with 3200 miles, a 2018 Mini with 3000 miles, and my wife's 2019 MiniST has just short of a 1,000 miles on the odometer. Of the 3, the Rover is still my favorite. It isn't small, though, and if you don't have the inseam, skills, or strength to handle a 70 pound bicycle it may not be for you. My wife (5'3"), for example, is perfect for the MiniST. My grandson was fine on the Rover, but he commutes year-round in Minneapolis and the Mini works better for him on the ice and snow. Both the Rover and the Mini began life with my grandson who is brutal on bicycles of all sorts and as a typical Millennial, is not big on maintenance of any sort. After trashing both bikes on the ice and snow for a winter or two, I ended up rebuilding and repairing them and keeping the Rover and riding the Mini for a few hundred miles before handing it back. I read a lot of comments from people who buy an eBike, most often Rovers, who crash and get hurt or are overwhelmed by the weight and speed and complexity. I see them on the trails, too, and I agree that they are not competent to ride any sort of bicycle, let alone a powered bike. That's not the Rover's fault, but it's also not something that can be fixed by the manufacturer.
At 5'6" and barely 125lbs - I absolutely LOVE my RR5! I keep the seat way up high, so at every stop, I pop off (like I have to on an adventure motorcycle). I have to disagree with you on not getting a workout - maybe it's because I'm so little, and also really love riding FAST, but I definitely got my legs into some pretty incredible shape (and I'm a former bikini competitor) riding it to work back and forth 20 miles per day. I also use a MyZone heart rate monitor which says I do WERK! Loving this channel - but I sure hope no one makes their sole decision about getting one based on this review. I do keep it in my apartment and have an elevator!
My NIKE AIR Monarch's did 300 miles last year. Those are shoes!! If you won't ride more than 223 miles in a year, then you're just getting the bike to make UA-cam videos. Sorry. This is a big problem with this review. Otherwise, the point about the weight seems valid. Thanks.
I'm 67, just bought a 2016 Rad Rover with only 150 miles on it, cost $1k and looks like new. Found it on Craigslist only a few miles away, the seller was in his 80's, but he and his wife each have a Segway which they prefer to ride. I bought a larger, softer seat, and am looking forward to putting a lot more miles on it. Love the wind in my face, makes me feel like a kid again.
Excellent review. Get the step through for the lady. I have 2 rovers and my friend has a rover and a step through and my brother has rover. I will never ride traditional bikes again. Best bike ever. Your review is 100 percent on point.
I'm 67 and ride a 2019 Rad Rover in Florida. I've survived 4 heart attacks and had to work hard to get my strength back. After I bought my Rover my strength and stamina increased. I added the Rad bikes front basket. Recently I had a truck pull out in front of me and stop. I hit the truck. the lady was concern about me and failed to notice the large dent in her truck. My bike and I were fine. I still laugh when I look at her white paint on my basket. Top ride as of this date is 42 miles with power assist. I currently have 750 miles on this cool bike. I recommend it to everyone. Remember you never really have the right of way. be careful.
I'm 48 yr old (5'11") father of two who MT Biked for a couple decades till a groin injury in 2016 led to bad surgery in 2021 and now full force pedaling is too painful. I got an RR6 and returned it because it was more than I needed ...for my situation. Too big to pack in the truck or trailer along with the kid's and wife's bikes and other junk. If I lived within short riding distance from trails or the beach, I would have kept it, but I exchanged it for a Mini 4 for $700 less and could not be happier. I'm using some of the savings to upgrade things to be even better than the RR6. I absolutely love the RR6 and a piece of me wants one, but it's not practical for us. On my Mini 4 I added all the extra cushion and suspension after market options including the Tannus foam to soften my ride for my injury and it works great.
Just got a Radrover 5. Going up hills can be more challenging as the motor slows drastically down on pas 5 and even full throttle. I just downshift the gears accordingly when trekking up hills. I’m definitely going to do the Bolton upgrades eventually. I love the weight and size of the Rover. Very stable yet agile. As far as security, I put a bike alarm on mine and it’s freaking loud. . Extra peace of mind on top of bike locks. Also will probably put a gps tracker on it eventually. For extra suspension and a smoother ride, get a Suntour Ncx seat post. Awesome.
You are correct. These bikes are heavy but, they are pretty solid. I have a 2018 juiced bike RipCurrent S which is kinda similar to this bike. i love the bike. Its got the 52v 19ah battery and the thing hauls. The range is about 65-70 miles pedal assist. i did upgrade the tires and the pedals. I got the maxis minion tires and i converted them to tubeless. I have ridden the thing in cold snowy blizzard condition in South Dakota and now i ride it in Colorado where i moved 6 months ago. No issues riding the bike on high elevation dirt bike trails at all.
A quick question, are you able to derestrict that bike to go over 20 25 MPH with the throttle. Or are you stuck at a lower speed until you start pedaling.
@@marcs4091 I don't own a Radrover but I think you can. I was able to in my Ripcurrent S. I was able to enable the "R" for race mode. Sorry i don't remember how i did it but there are tutorials on UA-cam.
@@mardan1974 yeah I'm talking about the rip current I had heard somewhere that you can't get them above 20 with just the throttle but with pedal-assist will do over 30
@@marcs4091 I think i got up to 33 one time. It was a perfect weather with no wind. I normally leave it in eco to preserve battery life and it works great.
I’ve done 120 miles in my first 2 weeks. Lovin every mile. Agree that it’s too heavy to put on the roof of your car. Great for cruising, no way anyone can keep up. I love my Rad like you and get all the same questions. Zero regrets.
A very honest and candid review of the bike. I own a Rad Rover and Rad Mini and love them both but surprisingly for some of the very reasons you suggest the bike may not be for you. Since I'm 65, I appreciate the extra help on the hills. Second, I enjoy the attention because I love meeting new people and the bike is a great conversation starter. Third, speed is not a factor. I almost never take it beyond 13 miles an hour. If you want to drive a bike 30+ miles an hour you need to drive it on the road in the bicycle lane and never on the side walks. I ride on side walks and never go over 12-13 miles an hour. With people walking dogs and mothers pushing babies in carts it's too dangerous. However, I can appreciate your need for speed if you're just riding on the street. Different strokes and just my opinion. 🙂
Huge is an understatement. We got one, and the first thing we agreed upon after putting it together was that it was like standing next to a horse. 😄 However, it is awesome riding our faithful steed. 💖
I got 200 miles first few weeks! 😕 Ive had it almost 6 months now I love my rover ♥, my hsb has one too. We spend time together every weekend riding our bikes. We ride all the rail trails in MI - I love it ♥ upgrade to a squish seat.
First of all - I love this bike. It's great for getting outdoors and getting a good workout and I have owned mine now for over 1 year and have put 1,400 miles on it. So with that length of time and number of miles here is what I would definitely add: If you are "not technical or mechanically inclined" or have "that background" be aware that the brakes get really loose really fast and have to be manually adjusted (by yourself - if you can figure that out and you may need new brake pads after just 1 year). A lot of bike shops will not touch the bike or be helpful because they have their own $6,000 lightweight ebikes "they want to sell" with a $1,000 Thule rack so just be aware of that. The rack you will need for this 70lb bike is the Hollywood rack which is sent to you in a box with instructions to assemble "but not a user manual" and there are a lot of things you will have to learn "on your own" like how to figure out the key switch to lower of raise the middle bar (which is not easy to use). You will also have to go to Uhaul and get a hitch put on the back of your car. Again, these are great fun bikes (once you get everything figured out and completed with your bike and your rack (which you will probably have to learn on your own).
I am laughing at his "honesty". Thanks for the review. Short people: you can still ride it! Just need to learn to lean to the side when stopping. Both my wife and I are 5'4 and we are having fun with it. But...we would never take it off road. It would take a different set of skills.
I love the question that one of your viewers asked about being able to switch batteries from a Himiway to Magicycle, I have a 2018 Surface 604 Rook model 48v 10.4amp and I will be needing a new battery very soon, My question is will a Himiway or Magicyle 48 v 14ah battery fit my surface 604 surface, Surface 604 wants to charge me $600 for a 48v 14ah Thanks
I've had a radrover 6 plus for about 6 months. Loved it until it turned off while I was riding today. Now it won't turn back on. Battery is full. When I attach the battery now the headlight and tail light just flash on and off repeatedly but that's it. Any advice?
Hmmm, I have not heard of that issue before. My first suggestion would be to check all wiring connections down by the controller and also up at the handlebars. If nothing is loose then I would contact rad, You would surely still be under warranty and they should cover any replacements needed.
Have a RR5 2021 with about 231 miles, in AZ herded cattle across pastures, put miles on back roads, rode in a few inches of snow and a first, road over a rattle snake and yes it was passed, went back and sent him to snake heaven with just a .22 lr. Upgrades were 900 lumina light, handlebar Extender, speedo to keep track of trip miles, GoPro handlebar holder, tire inserts, rear rack and bag, larger seat and 65" tv [joke ok). Bottom line would I buy again, hell yes. Life is great for 78 y/o
I agree the Juggernaut tires that come on the bike are crap. No exaggeration at all ... I literally had about as many flats in the first 4 months of owning this bike than I have had in the entire rest of my life combined ... and I've been biking for about 38 years now. Once I bought thicker more durable tires with more square inches of tread, the repeated flats issue went away. RadPower bikes must have become aware these tires are an issue because the bikes now come with a polymer puncture resistant liner that goes between the tire and tube. Other than tire and tube difficulties, have 2,000 miles on mine and absolutely love this bike.
Ive had mine for commuting. For the last 18 months. And done 2500 miles. Crashed it 3 times and its very strong and reliable. And it still looks cool. Lots of people stop and ask qeustions about. Love it. But i wish it was just a bit faster
I'm wishing I would have seen this video before I bought my bike. I bought the RadRover 5 and wish I would have got the RadRover Step-Through. I'm shorter than I though. It's a bit of a stretch at 5'4" and 73 years old. I had to take off my rear pack and rack to be able to mount it.
@@CitizenCycle925 I have no personal experience with the Lectric. I'm a DIY e-biker & a mid-drive devotee. The Lectric looks to have great specs & features for the price.
Great review. Hasn't changed my mind for me and I suspect (yep, checked comments below) it will be what older folks like me want. Slow, doesn't really go off road, slow down for bumps, made for people over 5'4", don't try and put it on the roofrack - these are all "my people." I'm only 67, but have been in some wrecks over my lifetime and have some limitations now. I hike in wilderness (4 miles from my house) and can't take a bike there, anyway. I want an ebike to ride to my best friend's house six miles away where we share a big market garden. I want to haul a travois to the grocery store eight blocks away in my small (very, very small) rural town. BTW, I will put goo in the tires. It makes the bike heavier, but I learned this by "four-wheeling" in my pony cart (an actual equine pulling a two-wheeled cart over rough ground). I got no patience for flat tires.
Roof rack with this bike? No way! Rear carrier or truck is the way to go. I'll have to look for your bike size comparison video after this, but it looks pretty huge. I went for the Radmini 4, so I'll have to see how that goes, size-wise.
The rad rover is not for everyone I agree. I have purchased 3 so far and I have almost 4500 non-commuter miles. I think the number one reason is the height, the step through is much more suitable for most people. And they even have it where than can collapse and be placed in a vehicle, but note it’s too heavy to pick up unless you’re very , very strong. I do most of my commuting of the bike with the cargo carrier on the rear of my Honda, so I just hold the back brakes lift up the front wheel and then the back and tie it down like a motorcycle, and lock it to the Honda with all the batteries lights and attachments removed just protect everyone on the highway and case any thing happens I am looking to buying or bringing one over to Amsterdam and keep one over there in storage for when I visit.
Im 6'1 as well, I wish I had Known that its not your height that is the issue but the size of your instep. I have a 30" inseam and this bike is too high for me. Everytime I have ridden it I have fallen over either getting on or off. Thinking of getting a step thru and selling my Rad Rover5
@@laptop597 not sure. Had to order my bike from Vancouver sight unseen. took a chance and well what can i say. Screwed that one up. Just buyer beware and don't count on your height to be the measure and check the stand over height and your instep. Other than that problem I totally love the bike. It's a monster of a bike.
@@crashbearsteve8274 like the Hemingway cruiser and at moment it's 100 Euros cheaper bigger battery and back rack is included in price rad bike carrier is extra
I have the 2020 and only disagree with a couple things you are saying.... it is a solid, broad review overall! I’ve have been exclusively riding mine off road on some nasty hilly rocky terrain and everything seems A okay. Watch this weekend the front wheel flies off lol. It is heavy but I literally chuck it in the back of my Ford Escape with the seats folded down. Open the side door and slide it forward. Loads in about a min for me. I live on the second floor in an apartment complex and carry the bike up one flight of stairs without the wheels touching (battery off the bike). No bragging here but these are things I worried I couldn’t do when I was ordering the bike. If you are older or just don’t want to do this I understand but it is possible.
good review.. good points for some users. I am 5, 6" with short legs and I kinda thought that bike would be too big. So I got the RadCity Step thru. Funny.. I was 4 minutes into the video before I noticed the cop sitting there. lol. Must be time for donuts.
As a bicycle mechanic that has worked on many many types of ebikes, the quailty and design of rad rovers are pretty bad. Wal Mart bikes with motors on them. that being said, for light use in fair weather condition, they're still a lot of fun. As a person that doesn't have a car and only uses a bike i need a bicycle that will handle any condition, I live on the oregon coast, that I throw at it. I get a call at the shop at least once a week from a person wanting me to trouble shoot electrical problems on a rad rover. I've had one bosch powered bike come back in for service because the motor was being loud. and a year and a half past warranty bosch still sent me a new motor. For casual fun Rad is fine, but for dependability Ill stick with bosch. Ive seen too many bafang motors burn themselves out.
The Fat Tire mountain bike guys are in complete agreement with me, the e-bike guys think I'm full of s***. I have two fat tire bikes one electric one non-electric. Combined over the last 4 years easily over 3000 miles. With a lot of heavy Trail use. Never had a flat never seen the inside of the tire, I really didn't even know those tires could get flats. But I run them at low pressure 12 back 10 front on the electric bike, 10 back 8 front non-electric. And snow I'll go as low as 8 in the back and 6 in the front. I think all these ebike guys are shooting themselves in the foot because they're running way too much pressure, I guess they're worried about rolling resistance. And they actually have less rolling resistance at a lower pressure because of the smoother ride.
@@CitizenCycle925 ahh thats what I thought, its a huge deal when offroading, it also helps prevent tire punctures! Also did you go tubeless with the tires? That also helps with tire punctures and handling performance is increased as well. These tips come from standard aggresaive mountainbiking but apply equally to ebikes. One more ?, hows that matte black paintjob holding up? And have you changed airpressure in airshocks at all? That also would be big for offroading. I guess it all really depends on which road type is the majority of your ride time. But fat tire bikes are just super awesome generally! It kind of seems you maybe would have enjoyed crossurrent style bike more?
Hi, I’ve been trying to decide which bike is better between rad rover of trek. Trek is so much more expensive. Not sure why. Is there that big of a difference. What’s your opinion. Thanks
Thank you for the videos I actually am thinking about buying that exact bike that you have we just test rode some bikes this weekend and it is awesome it’s like you said it’s just fun I’m fairly athletic and if you want to pedal you can and if you get tired you don’t have to so that’s what makes it nice do you think for the money that that brand that you have the rad rover is the best bike..? Thank you let me know
I had one and got around 3,400 miles on it in around a years time. Unfortunately when legally going on a crosswalk one day in May 2019 a pickup truck went through a red light and hit my ebike destroying it. Fortunately I missed getting hit by about a foots distance so I was uninjured. I couldn't even see the driver in the cab of the truck either so the driver went through the intersection probably picking up some object at his/her feet not paying attention to the signal or what was in front of him/her. After the collision the driver stopped some 90 feet ahead and then sped off doing a hit and run and he or she was never apprehended for that crime.
That’s absolutely Heynis I’m sorry you had to go through that I got my bike stolen off the first floor in my apartment complex in the media room where it was locked up and there was cameras so I can understand your pain
I ride the rad wagon around here in Austin with my kids on the back. I happened to be in Seattle so I stopped by the rad power bikes headquarters and test drove the rad rover. It felt very strange I didn’t like the ride that much yet now I’m finding myself wanting one LOL.
Me to. I rode my friends for a little bit and it was very strange and I felt I was fighting the bike. I assume one would get used to it and I want one as well.
Tried my buddy's Rad Rover and found I was too short at 5'6"...it makes it difficult to get on and off the bike and also when you stop and jump off the seat...OUCH. So I would go with a step-thru model for sure. Not for people under 5'8" tall for sure.
Excellent real review. Great attempt to put the "categorize" what kind of bike this is. I need to commute 4 miles to work. Up a loooonnnng hill, and I am not very athletic. Thinking this will be best for the price point. A good non-electric is avg 300 bucks, so this is just 5 times more expensive. Will I get 5 times the enjoyment?
Agreed, I've got a fake knee and gave up mountain biking cuz it hurt too much. I've got over 1400 miles on my rad that wouldn't have been on two shells otherwise. I use it for a 18 mi roundt6 grocery hauler, with a stop at the local brewery to offset the exercise. I'm also pulling 65.
Here is the link to the fenders I purchased www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B07HP3VGBG?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title They are a little flimsy but they work. I mounted the front fender bracket to the front fork where the headlight attaches. Did not use the piece that goes inside the steering column. For the rear fender I also zip tied it to the rear rack for support. You'll figure it out.
I thought this was a great review.. must people will think u putting the bike down. No , ur talking real in this video . I like .. these are the kind of reviews we need . Not all wayz we want the good .. thanks again ...
no suspension ??? front forks work well enough... you just have to spend the time to adjust them to your weight/riding style....and spending less than ten per cent more for a suspension seat post (from RadPower web site) will make a BIG difference....best money I ever spent! I have two 2019 Rad bikes...the "Cadillac" and the "Jeep" ...one RadCity step-thru and one RadMini (both with suspension seat post option)...one gearless motor, one geared motor. Identical batteries...so if I wanted to go REALLY FAR, on either bike, I could pack a second battery with me. Of the two bikes, I like the RadCity more...it "floats" down the road and at higher speed (if that's what you're into)....but sometimes you want to travel on trails/dirt. I have both options covered. On both bikes I swapped the shifter/brake clamp position so I don't have to move my hand off the grip to shift anymore. There is a little grinding/filing of the brake clamp to make that happen but that's easy and now the shifter is right tight to the throttle body. Pedal assist pad: I crazy glued two little furniture "bumpers" to the up/down buttons so they protrude up more...makes moving up/down PAS levels way quicker/more deliberate. If you want to get the most of these bikes your have to shift gears AND play with PAS levels together....think of it as a vehicle with TWO transmissions.
CitizensCycles Rock! I own a RadRover 5 and dug the video on "Why the RadRover is Not for You." It's right for me! Your video production values are good on all your films. WelI done, you. I noticed the oversized black saddle you had on your RadRover 5 in the ...'not for you' video and was wondering if you would let me know how to get the same thing? Keep up the good work.
Best Rad Rover review comment is about just how big these bikes actually are and not suitable for shorter riders! Nice to see a low seat as well, I am 5'9' and I have to have the seat almost all the way down! how do people have their seat up so high on these bikes? These tyres puncture really easily so I suppose your flat was a front flat else you would have mentioned the hassle of changing a rear, you cant really push it home the tyre falls off the rim because of the rear weight and they are too heavy to lift the rear and push on front tyre only . The new bikes have the puncture resistant tyres I just use slime and hope for the best each ride.
Good review and I agree with you that it is a heavy bike. If you need to travel to different places and need to transport your bike it will cost you some money. I had to spend $800 on a hitch and bike rack. The rack I bought has a ramp but still takes an effort to load. I do some off-road and mountain trails and it is difficult for some switchbacks. I can't believe you only have 223 miles on it in a little over a year. I have had mine for about 4 months and have over 1100 miles logged. I am 76 and retired so I have time to get out and ride. Some trails only allow class 1 bikes and this bike looks like a motorcycle, so it is hard to hide. I have been stopped a couple of times, but they still let me ride as long as I peddled. I love the Radrover and do not regret the purchase. However, If I had to do it again I would opt for the Rad mini or Rad city just for the size and weight in combination with my age. Enjoyed your honest review and ride rad.
Yes 223 miles is not a lot, wish I could ride more but I work full-time and I have several other motorcycles occupying my time. Thanks for the comment, ride safe!
You know, I came to the exact same conclusion as you. I wanted a fun, safe and comfortable bike that looked awesome. Town is bumpy, roads have got holes and sometimes you've got to swerve over slippery grass or multi-inch cracks. Need some big tires for those conditions or you go down. Going down isn't fun - I mean, road is hard. Hard hurts. Hard as heck seats aren't fun either. Pedalling non-stop up hills until you're Mr Wheezy isn't fun either. Exercise is fun though - the breeze going through your hair as you cruise along with the sun shining down - and when your legs start to burn, you can just twist the throttle until you feel like pedalling again. Definitely the bike for me. And you. Good choice.
Great review, going to head over to the Rad site. I am 5 feet 5 inches and interested, but will get the step thru and see if they have smaller wheels. I though Radrovers were 24 inch wheels.
It's the RadRover 5 for to denote fifth generation of this model. RadRover 5 is the 2020 year model and I can't wait for mine to get here in July. If you order now, the earliest you can get is in August. This is as of today 6/19/2020.

Soooooo a lot of people use these bikes as their commuter bike, and so it's not a toy to them. Red bikes are also one of the most affordable e-bikes you can get. A lot of e-bikes are around $4,000 - $10,000.

I see them on the trails, too, and I agree that they are not competent to ride any sort of bicycle, let alone a powered bike. That's not the Rover's fault, but it's also not something that can be fixed by the manufacturer.
I'm in Seattle too... does it handle the rain ok?
@@nickferro6627 it has 4 inch wide fat tires and is a heavy bike. It hugs the road.
I am going on 1,000 miles I love my Rad Rover its the best bike for the money hands down!
Looks pretty bad ass. This is what the sons of anarchy will be riding when they're 80.
Angelina,
Your bio says you’re from Chicago, I’ve never been there.
Is it pretty flat for commuting in Chicago or is it hilly like Seattle.
232 miles in a little over a year, wow, I've got three hundred miles on my Lectric xp in about four weeks.
I'm a fat old lady and I did 200 miles in 2wks on Sanibel Island- regular bike.

I'm far far from a spandex type, but the helmet and cloves, those just makes sense.
Remember you never really have the right of way. be careful.
Thanks for the awesome review. I just purchased a Rad Rover 5. Can't wait to get out and ride it!
If you’re poor, thats the right bike for you. Saves a lot of gasoline, injurence costs etc.

I have trouble getting the Rover to climb hills. What settings are for uphill riding? Pedal assist 5?
The rad power bikes are kind of weak for hill climbing. you'll need to max out the pedal assist or look into getting the Bolton controller upgrade
Thanks
@@thebigskyguy check out the Eggrider controller

Just got a Radrover 5. Going up hills can be more challenging as the motor slows drastically down on pas 5 and even full throttle. I just downshift the gears accordingly
when trekking up hills.

Love the Bike
If You Don't Like Fun,This Is Not The Bike For You !
What about us tall folks? 6'5" here and it might be too small for me. Anyone know?
Hi Mike, Glad to hear you are enjoying the Rad, keep living life to the fullest :)
You can make it accelerate a lot quicker with the Bolton ebikes Rad Rover upgrade kit. Check out my video on it.

Love all three of our rads!
I do most of my commuting of the bike with the cargo carrier on the rear of my Honda, so I just hold the back brakes lift up the front wheel and then the back and tie it down like a motorcycle, and lock it to the Honda with all the batteries lights and attachments removed just protect everyone on the highway and case any thing happens
I am looking to buying or bringing one over to Amsterdam and keep one over there in storage for when I visit.
what is the name of your seat? Did you have to change the seat post or just the seat?

Is this bike suitable for person height of 6ft 1. Is it similar height to the Rad Rhino model?
Im 6'1 as well, I wish I had Known that its not your height that is the issue but the size of your instep. I have a 30" inseam and this bike is too high for me. Everytime I have ridden it I have fallen over either getting on or off. Thinking of getting a step thru and selling my Rad Rover5

1000 miles all off road no flats. Correct, it is not a mountain bike but trails and dirt roads are ok.
Seems a lot of similarity with the BAM EW-SUPREME and Himiway Cruiser. Any idea if they are the same manufacturer?
Did you lower tire pressure before offroading??
I did not
@@CitizenCycle925 ahh thats what I thought, its a huge deal when offroading, it also helps prevent tire punctures!
Oops im confusing juiced with rad lol!
I am not an off road rider at all. If I ever got into that I don't think I would do it on a rad Rover

Your review make the radrover sound like the perfect bike for me. 😎

Hows the cost of maintenance and how does it do on hills?
I have over 1300 miles and absolutely love my RadRover. Yes it’s heavy and yes it’s made for mostly street crushing.
I hate being short. The bike seems amazing. But at 5'4 it just won't be comfortable.
Yes I'd go with the mini, which is still a cool bike
Is this bike comfortable for someone 5'9 tall and weighs 175lbs?
i would say yes, that seems like a good size for this bike.

I need to commute 4 miles to work. Up a loooonnnng hill, and I am not very athletic. Thinking this will be best for the price point.
A good non-electric is avg 300 bucks, so this is just 5 times more expensive. Will I get 5 times the enjoyment?
In my opinion, yes, I would say I have 5 times the fun riding it.

Here is the link to the fenders I purchased www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B07HP3VGBG?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title
They are a little flimsy but they work. I mounted the front fender bracket to the front fork where the headlight attaches. Did not use the piece that goes inside the steering column. For the rear fender I also zip tied it to the rear rack for support. You'll figure it out.

Glad you enjoyed, yes the world needs more real reviews..
It is for you and it is for me.
no suspension ??? front forks work well enough... you just have to spend the time to adjust them to your weight/riding style....and spending less than ten per cent more for a suspension seat post (from RadPower web site) will make a BIG difference....best money I ever spent!

Can you ride this without using the battery?
I believe so most e bikes can
Good review and I agree with you that it is a heavy bike.
What's your opinion on the 2020 Radwagon 4?
Can you ride this bike without pedaling at all?
Yes you can, just twist the throttle and go.
Did Bill Burr just do a Rad bike review? But on the real, that was a good review. Thanks,
lol. I was thinking Denis Leary
Did you offroad with backrack and other accessories?
Great review, going to head over to the Rad site. I am 5 feet 5 inches and interested, but will get the step thru and see if they have smaller wheels. I though Radrovers were 24 inch wheels.
Would you say it’s good for Uber eats?
I wonder what that cop was thinking, or was it a park ranger. I have a 2018 black Rover too, I'm thinking about the white one now.
Just an empty cop car 😁
Nice review! No bs and to the point.👍
Which model is that one, i see they have different models like the rav 5
It's the RadRover 5 for to denote fifth generation of this model. RadRover 5 is the 2020 year model and I can't wait for mine to get here in July. If you order now, the earliest you can get is in August. This is as of today 6/19/2020.
@@kwangaroo it's not the 2020 model. The 2020 model has the new headlight with the heat sink on the top. I think his is just referred to as the Rad Rover.
Soooooo a lot of people use these bikes as their commuter bike, and so it's not a toy to them. Red bikes are also one of the most affordable e-bikes you can get. A lot of e-bikes are around $4,000 - $10,000.
223 miles in a year??? lol my buddy puts 5k on his pedal bike dude. blow the dust off that thing and actually use it
Well done.
haha really wish I washed this before I bought the bike
Great review! I have one as well. Absolutely love the bike! But you're exactly right for reasons not to purchase it. Its really the most fun I have had on a bike in a long time!
Is water resistent. I mean would you ride it after it had rained?
I ride mine after the rain, but I won't ride in the rain. I avoid puddles and getting it wet. Not sure how water resistant it is. I have not had any issues yet. I also dry it when I get home. (Leaf blower)
They’re designed in Seattle so I’m certain they take rain into consideration.
