- There are some things we can do (and some things we cannot) to control our Apple TV by voice using our HomePod. Today we will discuss all the ways we can control the Apple TV with our HomePod, as well as the current limitations. I'll show you some native commands that work "out of the box" as well as some custom shortcuts that can help take this to the next level.

Really appreciate the muted “hey Siri” 😂
This is a really well made video, AND an amazing thumbnail! These are also some really cool shortcuts too. HomePod + Apple TV is a killer combo. Did I mention...great video!!
Thanks Eric! I appreciate the feedback. Trying something new with the thumbnail this week. I often just hang out with my HomePod and talk to Siri like an old friend. Figured I'd record it and make a video from it. 😜
You’re starting to hit your stride dude. This is some good stuff. It illuminates features and shortfalls some people don’t know about. While teaching how to do some nice customization with your provided shortcuts. Which by the way, I’ve borrowed and customized. All my sports channels have Apple TV apps with service provider login. I’ve customized your shortcuts to launch each of these. Never would have even thought to do so without seeing this.
Thanks Michael! I’m trying to find a good balance between product reviews and practical tips and tricks that I’m learning along the way. I enjoy all of it and I love hearing about the cool and creative things you all are doing too! I’m glad you found this useful. Thanks for watching!
Thank you😊 let’s hope Apple steps up the game.
Thanks for the shortcuts Shane. Very useful! Let’s hope for more HomePod functionality in future iOS software updates.
Your welcome! Yea I’m hoping too. It’ll get there, just a matter of “when.” The HomePod is a great device but it definitely has some catching up to do in order to have the kind of functionality you already see with some of the other smart speakers.
Impressive! Those Homekit surveillance video feel like you fully control home
You can actually play specific tv shows and movies if they are purchased from iTunes....GREAT VIDEO as always!
Thanks Collin! Someone else mentioned that. Maybe it's just me, but even that doesn't work for me. When I try, it always plays music on the Apple TV instead of the movie.
Good stuff!
I’m anxious to see what Apple does this year with both the AppleTV & HomePod platforms. They have SO much more potential, and those of us who have committed to the Apple Ecosystem would love to see some progression. It’s getting increasingly difficult to justify the commitment & additional costs involved, when the competition (Amazon & Google Home) is doing it better(?) and cheaper...
Without trying getting too far from the topic of your video, it sometimes feels like my decision to follow the HomeKit path is somewhat akin to grabbing a BetaMax vs VHS, or HD-DVD vs BlueRay. Not sure how well that analogy works, but I think it’s directionally correct. 🙄
Dunno. Maybe I’m just crabby this morning.
Thanks for the video. Good stuff as always.
Haha thanks Brad. Don’t be crabby. I know the feeling. I think us avid HomeKit users come to terms with certain trade-offs. For example, the things that work usually work REALLY well and all the privacy stuff, etc. is what we like about the Apple ecosystem, but often it takes a bit longer than the others for them to release features. But when they do it’s usually amazing and better than the others.
With that said, I agree, there is so much potential with these products and I do expect it will only get better. 🤞🏼 That’s my 2 cents anyways. 😜 Thanks for watching and have a great day!
Ironically, we have google home throughout our house and I’m very tempted to snag some homepods (discounted to 200$ at bestbuy) cause I don’t trust google with privacy. We only use google to control lights and tv and seems like HomePod can do that quite effectively too.
Please teach us about how to make shortcuts, thanks Shane channel!
Ok...BIG POINTS to you for silencing your Hey Siri command in the video. Why doesn't everyone do that?
@Shane, I use the Movie Night shortcut every night, thanks a lot!
Awesome, thanks!
Quick tip. Siri actually knows what room she’s in so you don’t have to say the Apple TV living room. If the HomePod and both the Apple TV are both set in the living room in the HomeKit app, you should be fine.
Great tip. Thanks!
False. Doesn’t work at all
@@monkeydtron it works for me and many others. It's not "false"
Thanks for the tip on the CEC settings in TV. It was a breeze to connect. Tomorrow two brand new original HomePods arrive and I start setting everything up. I can’t wait to setup my cocoon for the Winter months. Subscribe and Liked.
Nice! Thanks for watching and subscribing! Enjoy that cocoon!
Also the commands for video are new to me and awesome! Another great video bro!
Thanks Jason!
I do not have an Apple TV yet. Future purchase. Nice video.
Thanks for watching!
Wow I learned a few things. Apple knows how to impress
couldn't all of these commands be also given with Hey Siri on apple tv or iphone?
Hello. I wonder if there are any new interesting commands for HomePod & Apple TV
What are the prompts to turn the TV on and OFF
I currently control my Apple TV with URC automation. But I can’t throw voice to type command at Apple TV when I’m on UA-cam and stuff. Can HomePod voice type in to Apple TV?
Hi Shane! Thanks for the video! I have an apple TV 4k with a stereo pair of homepods mini and the experience is really awesome, the only annoying thing, for example, is if I'm watching a movie and I put the volume to 40% and I ask Siri for something, Siri answers me in that volume and sometimes I don't even hear it, I would like to know if there is a way that responds to me in high volume whatever it is that I am watching on apple tv at another volume
Great video Shane!
HomeKit Authority thank you!!
Hi! Great video! Would you say that today it has been improved the usability of homepod with Apple TV 4k? I want to know if you can ask Siri to open streaming applications or commands like "play Toy Story in Disney Channel"
Does someone know if the shortcuts work on HomePod mini? I can’t get Siri to say the apps out loud, I can only get it to work on my phone..
Hi Shane, I don’t know why I can’t use my shortcut “movie time” from HomePod mini. Only works from my iPhone without HomePod mini. I can turn on, turn of, play music or movie on my Apple TV with the HomePod mini. Can you help me please?
This is so freaking cool! I love this.
Thanks Arinze!
Great video as always! 💪🏼
Thanks Josh!
Shane that cam view app is amazing!! Thanks for sharing that. Always wondered how to get my cams on Apple TV
You're welcome! Glad it was helpful.
If you are AirPlaying audio from the Apple TV to a HomePod, you can tell the HomePod to “set a sleep timer for 30 minutes”. It’s great for when you want to fall asleep to something but don’t want it to keep playing for the next few hours.
Great tip. Thanks Kyle!
The play and pause doesn’t work for me ever. It just starts playing random shit on Apple Music.
Thanks for the vid. At 4:00 you talked about why you include “living room” in the command. Question: if you have the Apple TV and the HomePod in the same room within the home app, wouldn’t the HomePod then know to route any commands it’s receiving to the Apple TV within the same room? I have been meaning to test this out because I have multiple Apple TV’s and multiple homepods and it would be nice to NOT have to include which room in the command if you’re trying to control the same room. Same would go for lights-I have lots of smart switches, but if the room that the HomePod is in only has the one switch in the same room within the home app, shouldn’t we just be able to say “hey Siri, dim the light to 50%” and it knows to do it only in that room? It obviously wouldn’t work this way if using Siri on the iPhone, but maybe for HomePod it could?
Hey Josh, thanks for watching! That does seem to work with lights but it doesn’t work with speakers or Apple TV’s. The HomePod still wants you to specify the room.
Thank you 4 mute hey Siri ❤️❤️
Great video! Can you turn off the apple tv by saying "hey siri turn off tv" instead of "hey siri turn off apple tv" ?
You can if they are in the same HomeKit “room.” This might get a little weird if you also have a HomeKit TV and an Apple TV..not sure about that. But with just the Apple TV and HomePod, yes it works like that.
@@ShaneCreates Awesome! Thanks Shane. I’ve just started my HomeKit journey with the release of the HomePod Mini’s and I’m loving your videos. Keep up the great work!
@@JackLeeUK Thanks Jack, I appreciate the support!
Nice video! 👍🏻👌🏻
Thanks Julian!
For example Siri can now play specific tv series & films
Can you explain how? I want to play the latest episode of the NewsHour on UA-cam
@@drjinsb hi Steve. UA-cam doesn’t support that but it works with anything that’s liked to Apple TV + just say “resume this film”
@@andreistoica2994 UA-cam does need to provide the support. The HomePod just needs to have a smarter interaction with the ATV: “TV on”, “UA-cam NewsHour August 26”, “swipe down”, “swipe down”, “click”. I can do that now with the ATV remote. I just need the commands spoken to the HomePod directed to the ATV. And then a macro/shortcut to deliver the package of commands.
Thanks for sharing Shane. Great video.
Thanks Chris!
Strangely enough, you can ask Siri to turn on/off TV, and it has the ability to know what Apple TV is closest to the HomePod and only turns on that TV (or doesn't require you to specify the location of the Apple TV), but when it comes to controlling the Apple TV (Play, Pause, etc), it requires to specify which Apple TV. I'm hoping in the future with AirTags (either built-in to Apple TV, or placed near), it will be able to determine what Apple TV you're closest to, and will allow you to do commands without having to specify which one. Furthermore, it will be cool that when you pull up the remote app, it will auto-select the Apple TV you're closest to, not sure how many times I've turned on a different TV before realizing it wasn't selected to the TV I wanted.
Kevin Weel good catch! And yes, I’ve done the same thing with the remote app! I’m really hoping for deeper integration between these devices in the future. Ideally, one day we should simply be able to control everything we need to do on the tv by voice with the HomePod. I am hopeful we’ll get there...if you’ve seen the accessibility things they have done with the Mac, it seems like it could be possible.
What's the best solution for this? Basically my issue is if I want to play my xbox, when I sleep the Apple TV, I have to turn my TV back on to switch sources to play the xbox.
Do I have to add my Apple TV to home to get the HomePod to work with it? Can it power on an Apple TV?
Yes, you should have both the HomePod and the Apple TV setup in the Home app using the same Apple ID. And then yes, you can use the HomePod to power on and off the Apple TV.
Hi shane. Great video i want to ask if you can control the gen 4 of 2015 apple tv that way. Thanks
Yes, you can, I’m using it with Apple TV 4, not 4K.
Danka Shane!
hey shane! while watching tv using a pair of home pods, can you make/receive a phone call?
Any way to have your tv light strip behind your tv turn on and off with the Apple TV ? I want it to turn on when I use the Apple TV is on and off when my Apple TV is off.
Unfortunately you can’t use the Apple TV state as a trigger for HomeKit automations. If you have a homeKit TV, then that can be used, but not the Apple TV, which is unfortunate.
@@ShaneCreates thank u
Unfortunately I have Samsung m7 smart monitors that have airplay2 but not apple HomeKit supported tv
Hopefully apple HomeKit team will see ur channel and comments and maybe make an update soon
Shane, do you ever have issues with these shortcuts not being able to wake the Apple TV? I have a couple shortcuts that often doesn’t work because it can’t wake it. It’s interesting because the Apple TV App on my phone will wake it.
I usually don’t have many issues with this. Occasionally the tv itself might not come on like it’s supposed to but I think that’s a tv issue. Usually it work fine though.
Hi Shane, great very informative videos. Question: In this video you explain how to see your cameras on your TV. I downloaded and installed the HomeCam app on my AppleTV where it works fine. Then I downloaded the shortcut and it asked during the "installation" process to select my AppleTV ( so far o.k. ) and then in the third step it asked to select the "HomeCam" app but in the drop down list of all the available other apps ( like Disney eyc. ) the HomeCam app does in my case not appear. Any idea ?
Hey Michael. That's strange if you are seeing all your other Apple TV apps. Have you tried just skipping the configuration questions and changing the actual shortcut (step 2)? See if that that works for you.
@@ShaneCreates Thanks for the tip, but no it did not do the trick but after a complete re-boot of the AppleTV I was able to select the HomeCam app.
Michael ok glad it’s working! 👍🏻
Hi Shane! I know this is and old video but I Just finally got a Apple TV and I’m learning from your great shortcuts :).
But, I can’t find a way to Control my Apple TV within and Automation/Scene. I now can control my tv with a shortcut and even with and NFC tag and get tv on and ask for a Streaming service and all that, but what I want is to do the same thing but by pressing a smart switch or a button (like Aqara’s). Is there a way to do it?
When I try to get my Apple TV into a scene within HomeKit, it appears only an option for playing music, not for turn it on as a TV and all that like in shortcuts … (don’t know why). Any workarounds?
Thanks 🙏🏻
Hey Emanuel, thanks for the support. I'm glad the videos have been helpful.
Unfortunately, that is not something we can currently do. The reason is: standard shortcuts and NFC automations are "personal" automations... meaning they run on your personal device (iPhone, iPad, etc). So when you set that up to control your Apple TV, technically it is using the Apple TV remote app on your iPhone to control the TV.
Alternatively, scenes and homekit buttons are "Home" automations that run on your homekit hub. That's why there is a limitation there. Hope that makes sense.
@@ShaneCreates thanks you so much for your explanation. It makes sense and indeed it’s unfortunately. Nowadays you can integrate “playing music In a HomePod” as automation and by triggering a button, but can’t do the same with the Apple TV to play a movie. It’s too bad, but I least we can do it with other ways.
As always, Thanks for your knowledge. Much appreciated 👍🏻
For some reason no matter what settings I switch to, this Homepod would still CUT OFF in the middle of playing Apple Music Wifi or streaming from my computer. It is now on iOS 13.4 and it STILL cuts off. I changed the bit-rate down to 192kbps and 44.1kbps (which it is rated up to 320kbps). That is my main issue, a speaker playing and STOPPING. *Sigh*
Sounds great while playing Apple Music (natively), Spotify, and any other streaming service via Airplay.
Does anyone know if I can control my linked HomePod speakers to adjust the volume when I’m using my Apple TV via a harmony elite remote?
How do you get HomePod to say your name after request ?
It just does it automatically often when making "personal requests."
Shane, can I use HomePod when searching in ATV? Like when I click the search button in UA-cam in ATV, can I just speak and have HomePod pick it up and search what I want?
No not the HomePod unfortunately. I use the Apple TV Siri remote for that all the time tho.
@@ShaneCreates Ah, bummer, thanks though, appreciate the input.
How do you turn the Apple TV on with the HomePod for the love of Jesus
"Hey Siri, turn on the Apple TV."
If the HomePod is in the same HomeKit room, that's all you need to say.
Hey, I need some advice. Aqara's automation doesn't work. I have set 7 and 21 hours color and brightness of light. Do you know what to do with it? Thanks for the reply
I want to add 2 home pod Minis to my living room (1 L and 1 R) to act as stereo system. I don’t want to use it permanently as the TV speakers though. Think we could create a shortcut so that when you say “movie time,” your audio will switch from the TV speakers to the home pod minis for audio output?
At the moment, I can't think of a way to do that. Apple has added some nice, new shortcut actions in iOS 14 for the Apple TV (remote), but no way to switch the audio output yet. Maybe in a future update?
Hey Shane at the end of the shortcut where you have Siri say “don’t forget the popcorn”, that’s pretty funny. When I set up a similar shortcut, rather than Siri just saying what I have it typed in it says “your shortcut says“ and then the Siri says what I have typed in. Any idea how to get rid of the part where Siri says “your shortcut says”? Thanks
No I think that’s one of those weird bugs. I’ve noticed some of my shortcuts do that for certain actions and it seems to have gotten worse on the HomePod. Hopefully that will get fixed eventually.
Hi Shane , I’ve setup my shortcuts and it works on my phone but I’m not able to get it to work on my HomePod. It just says “ I can’t do that here.” Is there a setting that I’m supposed to adjust or change? Thanks
You need to activate “personal petitions” on the HomePod settings (home app, HomePod)
Why does Apple deliberately hold Siri back? Why are they sabotaging themselves?
Is there something I’m doing wrong..I downloaded the shortcut from the website but it won’t pause..etc..only thing it will do is turn off and on the TV
Which shortcut?
@@ShaneCreates sorry, I thought I had included that missing piece... it’s Movie night.
@@tiggerlove12 not sure. It works for me still. It’s not supposed to pause anything. Just set scene, turn on Apple TV, and ask which app you want to open on the TV.
@@ShaneCreates ok..Thanks for your quick reply’s..I’ll try again.
Hi Shane - I had a pair of HomePods in my Living Room which I placed beside the TV. The sound was quite good as some movies had ATMOS and as such much better sound than just the TV. I moved the HomePods to beside the lounge where I watch movies and the sound seemed to improve. This must be because of the wall behind the lounge. I next moved a pair of HomePod Minis into my Living Room and set them up as the front speakers. Overall the sound seemed not to be as good. I got sound from all four speakers but the volume seemed to have dropped. I suspect I also have lost the richness of the HomePods. I only have two HomePods and two HomePod Minis so I was unable to try 4 HomePods to test the sound. AirPlay 2 does allow multiple speakers to be used but suspect it does not support ATMOS. Have you tried multiple speakers?
Hey Tony. HomePod minis don't support Atmos/Theater mode. I'm pretty sure you can only use a 2 HomePod max for Atmos support. For example, none of them are able to be setup and configured as rear speakers.
@@ShaneCreates - Thanks Shane - I got ATMOS support when the HomePods were placed beside the Lounge (effectively rear speakers) but as soon as I added the two HomePod Minis into the room the four speakers started to behave like 4 Minis ! I suspect AirPlay 2 does not support ATMOS and as you said Minis don’t either. I thought about defining two “Living Rooms” in Home but the Apple TV would have to be one “room” and this is where the sound would go. Unless Apple does some changes to AirPlay I suspect we are limited to two ATMOS support speakers. I thought about buying two more HomePods to see if all 4 speakers would then be ATMOS capable. An expensive option if it didn’t work.
Can you tun the tv off like a remote if want to go to sleep without getting up ?
If using an apple tv and a HomePod, yes you can ask siri to turn off your apple tv. If using HDMI-CEC, it should cut the tv off as well.
I have the problem that when I tell my apple TV to turn off he turns off but the white status light don‘t. The when I tell my apple Tv to turn it it doesn‘t turn off. Instead i need to tell my apple tv to turn off twice everytime and then I can turn the apple tv on again. Does someone know this issue or am I to fast?
Hey Shane, please is there a way to configure the shortcuts so that my Apple TV connects to HomePod without me me having to always go into the settings and ticking the box for HomePod and unchecking the one for HDMI.
Do you want to make the HomePod the default speaker for your Apple TV? If so, you should be able to configure the Audio Output in the Apple TV settings and change it to your HomePod.
Shane Whatley I have but once I turn on the Apple TV, I have to do all that in the settings again. I was hoping some configuration in shortcuts could help me with all that especially on days when I misplace the remote😂.
Arinze Gerald oh I see. I’d assume it would stay as you configure it, but I’m not sure since I don’t typically use my HomePod as speakers for my tv.
Shane Whatley no worries, thanks anyway. And those links you shared 👌👌👌👌.
Hello, forgive my English translated hehe, I have a xiaomi security camera, would that be worth to put it in the shortcuts? or does it have to be specific to homekit?
Anything that supports Siri Shortcuts can be used in a shortcut. Doesn't necessarily have to support homekit.
@@ShaneCreates thanks!
Would Apple TV be ideal for digital signage?
Honestly I'm not sure, I don't know that much about digital signage. I would imagine there are some apps or products available designed specifically for that use.
Great video, thanks again. I have downloaded the Show Cameras. How do I have Siri run a short cut? It does not wake up the Apple TV. Both are labeled to be in the Living Room. I have created a scene that labeled Show Camera. I cannot add a (s) to the end. It seems like the title is too long in characters with the (s).
Thanks Steve. I'm not sure I understand the question. If you use the "Wake Apple TV" action and choose your apple tv, it should wake Apple TV when you run the shortcut.
Shane Whatley Thanks for the quick reply. Let me see if I can explain my question better. I created in the Short Cut App “Show Camera” short cut. I can run the short cut in the “Short Cut App”. It works like you have described. However, when I ask my HomePod to “Show Camera”. She says that “I cannot Show Cameras from this device.” How do I run short cuts created in the Short Cuts App on a HomePod? Or particular, what am I missing in the short cut “Show Camera” in order to have Siri on the HomePod to run the “Show Camera” short cut created in the Short Cuts App? When I ask Siri to run a particular Short Cut. Overall, how do I create a short cut in the app, and have the ability to have Siri run that new short cut created in the app? Thanks again for all your help and support.
It’s probably just an issue with the name. Any shortcut you create should be able to trigger using the title of the shortcut with Siri on the HomePod. Try renaming the shortcut to something else and see if it works.
Shane Whatley I will give it a try, thanks for your help.
I have it open Netflix with a shortcut I made for movie night
Nice!
Hey, Shane! Do you know if there’s a way to make HomePod (preferably stereo paired) the default audio for AppleTV? It seems to default to the TV audio anytime I turn the TV off. The AppleTV is my primary set top box for watching TV
Hey Lee, I don't believe it is currently possible, but there are rumors that tvOS 14 may include a new feature allowing you to permanently set your airplay 2 speakers as audio output.
Shane Whatley Okay thanks for responding!
@@thinblueirish78 Go into Settings /Video and Audio/ Audio Output, choose the HomePod.
How is the sound quality thru appleTv 4k? Also, do you get any delays audio vs video?
Are you referring to using HomePods as TV speakers?
@@ShaneCreates yes
I haven't been using mine as tv speakers (already had surrond sound), but I've heard from a lot of people that they sound great and it's pretty common to do it. Also there is a new update that should make this experience even better: 9to5mac.com/2020/10/13/apple-tv-homepod-speaker-settings/
Is there a way to run the show cameras shortcut if motion is detected it would be cool to see who is at my front door without getting up
nick34377 no I don’t think you can natively with HomeKit and shortcuts. Plus, imo, it might get a little annoying if you are watching tv and your show abruptly changes every time Motion is detected outside.
Shane Whatley dang if you can find out that would be great and the way I have my camera pointed is towards my door so it would only pop open when someone is actaully there or I could do it so when the doorbell is pressed
@@nick34377 well I have found a way, but it's not the easiest solution. I was able to create similar automations using an app called PushCuts. It has a feature that allows you to turn a dedicated, always-on iOS device into an automation server and execute shortcuts and HomeKit scenes from anywhere. It's pretty cool.
Shane Whatley could you maybe right out steps or something
@@nick34377 here is more information on how to to do it. www.pushcut.io/support_automation_server.html
Has it improved since this vid was made?
What specifically are you referring to?
@@ShaneCreates being able to tell it to play a tv show for example
No can’t do that from the HomePod still. Of course you can with the Apple TV Siri remote, but not HomePod.
Another cool thing is you can say what did she say or similar if u didn’t hear something from movie or show the first time.*EDIT* only works with Apple TV remote Siri
Does that work on the HomePod too or just the Apple TV remote?
Shane Whatley I tested that with my show tonight and turns out it only works when u use the the remote.... I had just assumed it would work either way.
nick castle gotcha. Yea the remote has some commands that don’t work yet on the HomePod (turn subtitles on/off is another one I’d love to see). Hopefully one day all these commands will be consistent across all the devices...hopefully.
Shane Whatley there’s a lot of new stuff found in code and leaks coming for HomeKit, Apple TV and HomePod I’m excited I switched over now and got the reach bridge for all my bulbs
nick castle yea I’m excited about it too. I think HomeKit is going to prove to be very strong in the long run.
How do you set up the shortcuts?
I didn't go step by step in this video, but some of my other videos do go step by step setting up shortcuts. Check out my "automations & shortcuts" playlist here: ua-cam.com/play/PLSyPtAY5VFr3fBwGMdvvVyRHuBllOfX9k.html
You’ve got a nice name!
Haha likewise!
did you improve the overall quality of your videos? like!
I'm always trying. Thanks!!
I have an issue with my shortcuts working on my HomePod. Have you had any issues with this? I’ve only had the HomePod for a month and they haven’t worked at all yet.
What kind of issues? Getting errors, etc? Do siri on your phone work to trigger the shortcuts? Mine seem to be working fine.
Shane Whatley the shortcuts work just fine on my phone, but on the HomePod it doesn’t. Example..I named a shortcut “work from home” and “start cases” and she just decides to play a song or says I can’t help with that.
Heather Daliege that’s odd I’m not sure. As long as your Apple ID is set up as a user in the HomePod and you are in the same network as it, it should work. Maybe Siri doesn’t like the shortcut names. I’ve experienced that before. You tried renaming them to see if that helps?
Shane Whatley I have tried changing the names thinking that was the issue too and still nothing. I think I’m just going to have to contact Apple. I thought I would check with you since you have more experience then me. Your videos are super helpful. Thank you for all of your help.
The HomePod will play movies from ITunes to your Apple TV.
What phrasing do you use? I’m not able to get that to work.
Shane Whatley so I know for a fact that I’ve done it to play a movie for my kids in the basement, but I can’t get it to work now for some reason.
@@rob8064 It wouldn't surprise me if that's one of those things that worked before and doesn't now after some update along the way.
Shane Whatley I figured it out. I was doing it from my iPhone, not the HomePod. Thanks for doing these videos. They are very helpful.
Oh gotcha, makes sense. Thanks Bobby!
Shane, the way Siri is talking to you, Ima suspect she has sumpin' going on for you. Call me crazy. :) :)
thanks Shane! oh and you need a bigger tv!!! lol
Personally, I wish Siri didn’t say anything to confirm just get the tasks done.
agreed.
There’s a setting for that.
@@cosmictyger where or how can we do that?
@@Tty85 in the Home app, look under the Homepod settings. However, if something goes wrong, I think it will still respond. Which is probably, for the best.
Typical apple screwup.
You forgot volume, say “Hey Siri Apple TV living room volume 45%” and it will happen.
Per Arild Friestad are you using your HomePod as your tv speaker? I think that might be the only way this works.
Shane Whatley actually no, I use an Apple TV 1 gen as the receiving end (through AirPlay over Ethernet) for the Apple TV 4K sound, so it might be similar. Have a stereo always ON and connected to the Apple TV 1 gen.
@@perarildfriestad4923 Ok, nice. Yea for me, I'm not able to control the TV volume with the HomePod unfortunately. I'll usually use the remote capability on my iPhone for the easiest access if I'm not near the apple tv remote.
I'm sorry but your video was quite useless to me. You showed what it can do but you didn't show the step by step process of setting any of it up anywhere in your video. I guess you forgot about that part lol...
So I guess including the shortcuts I made in the description so you could conveniently download them and use yourself wasn't good enough? Sorry man I tried...
