The way Johnny and Daniel both look disappointed when Cobra Kai wins is such a crazy thing to see! Also, Johnny owns the new Cobra Kai. I feel like this will come full circle and Johnny regains control of his dojo, but trains the new Cobra Kai to fight with honor similar to Miyagi-Do.
Neither of these kids has had it easy, but neither one understands the other. Miguel looks at Robby and sees a pretty boy who has never been bullied or has any idea what it's like to be him. Robby looks at Miguel and sees someone who is a bully just like his father was.

Man the breathing before Robby enters back into the fight is so good. I know we've had four seasons since then, but I really feel like Robby peaked right there. He's centered, focused only on winning. There's no hatred, or anger, or consideration of his opponent as an enemy. He's only trying to use the best karate he can. Incredible.
But why can’t Miyagi do work in a street fight? It consists of fighting defensively where you dodge and block until you find an opening and hit, and also vice versa, Cobra Kai works in a tournament by fighting offensively using skill and even aggression to win a point.

One of the things I really liked about this fight (and the first two seasons of Kobra Kai) that kinda got lost as the series went on, was that there wasnt really a bad guy. It was a fantastic character-driven show where everyone had flaws and you could root for anyone. In later seasons Kobra Kai just got more and more evil until it was eventually a pretty straightforward light vs dark show. Not sure if the final season will bring that around but short of "ah ha ha everyone hates each other again and jonny/daniel split up for a 4th time" I dont see that happening

Johnny and Daniel both realized they spread their rivalry into their own students and knew they could not continue their rivalry after the school fight. While they certainly still had their differences in later seasons, it was never at the level it was before the school fight.

I'm really enjoy that we were finally able to see again this balanced and focused Robby in his fight against Miguel in season 6. We hadn't seen him like that since season 1.
Actually, the opposite is true. Cobra Kai makes a Nervous guy more Aggressive and Miyagi Do does the opposite. Miguel needed to be more aggressive and Robby needed to be more soft in their approach

I agree. Robby is way overhated by the fanbase, and underestimated by them as well. He’s a damn good fighter. S5 SPOILER even after the rivalry between Miguel and Robby is done and they are practically good friends now, the fanbase is still hating on Robby trying to compare him to Miguel. Miguel will have been the winner of this tournament, but Robby was the best fighter, even with his injured arm, he managed to put up a very good fight and although he lost, he bowed to Miguel, maintaining respect and honor for their fight, which Miguel did not do at the time. being completely blinded by anger and wanting to hurt Robby just because he misunderstood things between Robby and Sam when they arrived at the party. After seeing Miguel and Hawk win in a tournament, I feel that for the Sekai Taikai tournament the fairest thing is for Robby to finally win it after the effort and hard things he had to go through throughout the series, even so putting the last name Lawrence at the top.
I mean, Robby, in season 1, is kind of a dick I mean, sure, he has his nice moments, but everybody does he isn't like usually nice. I mean, sure, he showed sportsmanship, but he also insulted Hawk, which caused him to hurt his arm, so he kinda got what was coming for him.
This fight is one major reason to why Robby showed Miguel no mercy later when Miguel did the same here, Miguel was deliberately hurting him here and other stuff through season 1-2.
Ik miguel is the fan favorite and is like more than Robby but let’s remember Miguel started the rivalry when they met at the party and tried to hit him when he was defending Sam and then in the tournament he fought with honor and after he knocked him down he tried to help him up only for Miguel to hurt his arm even worse Robby didn’t get bad until the episode where Miguel turned in the necklace and Robby didn’t tell Sam I’m glad they are friends and like brothers and season 5 but they could’ve been from the start no matter how jealous Robby was of Miguel’s relationship with his dad he didn’t start this long rivalry

I really hope robby wins the sekkai taikai and isn’t pushed off to the side with some bs injury or distracted by Tory. When he was fighting Miguel with one hand is the most hyped I’ve been in all 5 and a third seasons
I know the latest seasons are fun to watch but to me nothing comes close to the first 2 seasons of this series. The characters were so much better written and the series had a grounded realness to it. Just my 2 cents.
Johnny was most likely thinking back to when Kreese made him fight dirty against Daniel in 1984 and so he didn't want Miguel to fight dirty against his son.
Only fight, to date, where Robby walked away seeming like he was honestly better than Miguel (and probably the last time, now that they had their "once and for all" in season 5), keeping up and gaining an edge with one arm, until Miguel took advantage of his sportsmanship. Still not sure if the moral is going to be that "Zen" Robby is strongest Robby, or if the creators just plain ended up favoring Miguel.
This was the moment when Miguel began to feel the negative effects of being a Cobra Kai. Just like its creator, John Kreese, that is not the art of self-defense, but of hurting people. And Johnny Lawrence was in charge of reviving those forbidden techniques of the well-known "No Mercy."

The creators saw good potential in Robby and how Miguel was going down a darker side, they pulled an Uno Reverse card in S2. Really shows you who they favor 😮
Looking back at this scene and season 5 I actually think they never wanted Robby to be the bad guy. Robby always fights for what he believes in. He even stood up to silver. He is the real winner to miyagi standards because he doesn’t fight to win, he fights for what really matters just like Daniel.
This whole tournament was literally the same as the KK1 1. Daniel and Johnny are fighting over a girl just like Miguel and Robby 2. Miguel used the crane kick to defeat the opponent 3. Johnny and Miguel faced a real skilled opponent 4. Bobby injured Daniel, Hawk injured Robby 5. Daniel heals Robby like Mr. Miyagi did to him 6. Kreese told Johnny to fight dirty and no mercy, just like Johnny did to Miguel 7. Johnny cheats by sweeping the leg, Miguel cheats by pulling the arm

William Zabka is a much better actor than the scripts he's had in the past have let him be. You can see his concern as the fight evolves is two-fold: He is personally worried about Robbie, which is pretty normal for a parent, but he's also realizing that he's done to his students just what Kreese did to him. His "My God, what have I done?" look needs no dialog.
Season 1 Robby is stronger than season 1 Miguel in my opinion because he was able to withstand Miguel good with one arm and an injured arm. So if Robby had 2 arms he would beat him in the tournament. When it becomes season 2+ I think they both become equal except for seasons 3-4 because of Miguel’s spine injury

Plot, it makes zero sense other than the writers trying to build up suspense and is obvious after you watch the school fight where Miguel had Robby subdued and could of broke his arm if he really wanted to but let him go and we know what happened after that
Edit: actually the reason why Robby did better was because he had more composure and balance

I loved the Rivalry between Miguel and Robby because in some ways, Miguel is Goku who's proving to be the best, while Robby has Vegeta's hot-blooded Attitude and pride.
Except Miguel isn’t really like goku in this scene and Robby is the more calm and clear minded in this scene

Miguel will have been the winner of this tournament, but Robby was the best fighter, even with his injured arm, he managed to put up a very good fight and although he lost, he bowed to Miguel, maintaining respect and honor for their fight, which Miguel did not do at the time. being completely blinded by anger and wanting to hurt Robby just because he misunderstood things between Robby and Sam when they arrived at the party.
After seeing Miguel and Hawk win in a tournament, I feel that for the Sekai Taikai tournament the fairest thing is for Robby to finally win it after the effort and hard things he had to go through throughout the series, even so putting the last name Lawrence at the top.
I mean, Robby, in season 1, is kind of a dick I mean, sure, he has his nice moments, but everybody does he isn't like usually nice. I mean, sure, he showed sportsmanship, but he also insulted Hawk, which caused him to hurt his arm, so he kinda got what was coming for him.

Ik miguel is the fan favorite and is like more than Robby but let’s remember Miguel started the rivalry when they met at the party and tried to hit him when he was defending Sam and then in the tournament he fought with honor and after he knocked him down he tried to help him up only for Miguel to hurt his arm even worse Robby didn’t get bad until the episode where Miguel turned in the necklace and Robby didn’t tell Sam I’m glad they are friends and like brothers and season 5 but they could’ve been from the start no matter how jealous Robby was of Miguel’s relationship with his dad he didn’t start this long rivalry

Both finals Robbie has been in, he was either nerfed (shoulder injury) or distracted (wanting to show Kenny mercy makes you a winner even if you lose). I really hope robby wins the sekkai taikai and isn’t pushed off to the side with some bs injury or distracted by Tory. When he was fighting Miguel with one hand is the most hyped I’ve been in all 5 and a third seasons
I know the latest seasons are fun to watch but to me nothing comes close to the first 2 seasons of this series. The characters were so much better written and the series had a grounded realness to it. Just my 2 cents.

Only fight, to date, where Robby walked away seeming like he was honestly better than Miguel (and probably the last time, now that they had their "once and for all" in season 5), keeping up and gaining an edge with one arm, until Miguel took advantage of his sportsmanship.
Still not sure if the moral is going to be that "Zen" Robby is strongest Robby, or if the creators just plain ended up favoring Miguel.
S5 fight was so stupid, it's like they literally just wanted to humiliate Robby.

Yeah but it was still well written so it actually worked out pretty well.
Looking back at this scene and season 5 I actually think they never wanted Robby to be the bad guy. Robby always fights for what he believes in. He even stood up to silver. He is the real winner to miyagi standards because he doesn’t fight to win, he fights for what really matters just like Daniel.

5. Daniel heals Robby like Mr. Miyagi did to him
6. Kreese told Johnny to fight dirty and no mercy, just like Johnny did to Miguel
7. Johnny cheats by sweeping the leg, Miguel cheats by pulling the arm
Yeah basically story repeating itself, only difference is that cobra kai won the tournament this time.

William Zabka is a much better actor than the scripts he's had in the past have let him be. You can see his concern as the fight evolves is two-fold: He is personally worried about Robbie, which is pretty normal for a parent, but he's also realizing that he's done to his students just what Kreese did to him. His "My God, what have I done?" look needs no dialog.

Season 1 Robby is stronger than season 1 Miguel in my opinion because he was able to withstand Miguel good with one arm and an injured arm. So if Robby had 2 arms he would beat him in the tournament. When it becomes season 2+ I think they both become equal except for seasons 3-4 because of Miguel’s spine injury
