The 7 speed gearbox has really made a difference to this car 100-200km/h as the 6 speed in the pfl had really long gears which made it a lot slower than it actually was.
@@ravenheart369 yep, facelifted Polo GTI has dual injection. Direct and port injection. This engine is masterpiece, hope every engine tsi from now will be dual injection, because single injection have problem with carbon buildup in intake manifold. 🤝
The 7 speed DSG is probably a lot better than the 6 speed DSG but it's disappointing to see that gears 4 and 5 are still waaaaaaay too long. Honestly I don't get the purpose of this car. If you want a small car with lots of power, you'd also probably want fun, right? So you then go for the Hyundai i20N or Ford Fiesta ST. They also at least have a proper front axle differential which the Polo doesn't have (XDS is just ESC/ABS, not a differential). If you want a small car for commuting, you need efficiency and not that much power. So the 1.0 TSI with 110 hp would be the better option. Maybe the 1.5 TSI with 150 hp. It looks good tho (from the outside).
it's bigger than the cars that you mentioned, roomier and more comfortable. it's still fun, though not as fun as those two. brings the golf qualities to the lower class and for lower price.. basically, i can imagine this as my only car and a daily, can't say the same for fiesta and the incredibly ugly hyundai
Like other guy said. Its a daily driver thats comfortable, not too expensive, a bit of luxury, a bit of fun, and more than enough power for most people. I drive on the road, not a race car track. i20N & Fiesta are much rougher rides, and not as nice inside. EVERYONE who has commented on my car has said how nice it is. From old to young (regular people, not car heads). Also, the car is efficient. Better than the Kia it replaced! Efficient if you drive normally. Of course it guzzles, like anything, if you constantly floor it. (note im not comparing to more expensive cars, i could afford this, not an Audi or BMW or Merc , WAY WAY more expensive)
I drove one, it was funny pulling up in my golf r7.5 to drive this. Because my golf r has been nothing but a pain in the arse. Problems since buying at 31 thousand. I drove the gti polo and could not believe how quick it was. It has a nettle throttle response than both golf r and mk8 I tested and very quick instant and nice noise. Shame it doesn’t have any little pops like the golf and shake it doesn’t have comfort.
VW clearly targets the Polo GTI as a more grown up everyday car. The Fiesta is super fun throwing around corners but is is really harsh in town due to its sporty suspension, and has nowhere near this relaxed low revving nature the polo has on the autobahn. the i20n is even more extreme than the fiesta. also i clearly prefer the 2.0 tsi in terms of refinement - it has almost no turbo lag at low revs and runs smoothly where the ecoboost always needs a second to come to live and vibrates and rattles down low, doesnt really want to live below 2000rpm - this also adds to the more refined character of the polo. its for people that do not need a bigger car but want a quick, fun and also refined experience with the polo. you are right the 1.5 tsi is also quite enough for that, however the price difference to the gti (depending on how you finance etc.) can be quite marginal so why not pick the GTI in the first place.
I drove previous Polo GTI with 200 hp. It felt pretty nice, Nm was ok but I thought at the time that 200 is a little bit to low and should have like 230 hp to really enjoy it.
They have the same 2 litre turbo from the GTI and R. It probably be cheaper to buy a Polo GTI than with money tune the engine and put better tyres on and probably brakes. You could have a much quicker car than the Golf GTI.
I’ve got a golf R which is the biggest piece of shit I’ve ever owned. 31 grand for 8,000 miles and it has nothing but problems. Jumped into the polo and felt the throttle response was more urgent than the golf R and the polo is very quick little beast. The golf R most overrated junk ever. The polo in my view was better in every way. Better petrol, less look at me, more refine and that engine felt quite close to the mk8 gti I drove few weeks back. The gti was amazing little car. But the gti is just as good but very different way. Feels urgent throttle, and handling is out of this world. If had to recommend a car it would be the polo gti over the Golf. My reason is it’s cheaper and 0-60 there’s hardly any difference, the polo sounds lovely dsg and has way more than enough poke. It felt the same power as my old focus st3. Exactly the same, the gti is slightly quicker but the polo smokes the golf on the bends. Don’t get me started on the useless lazy golf R. One of the worst cars I’ve ever had. Heavy, dull, fast in straight line, but that is irrelevant because speed wears off, and the litre polo would give a golf r a run for its money on bends. Polo every day over the overrated 7.5 golf. There’s one reason I don’t like the polo, just didn’t have comfort mode. And that was what stop me buying over my crap golf r. Someone said something about DCC but not sure if that effect softness of the car. Polo is a real winner. More so that golf R and more than golf gti. I was shocked how quick and throttle response was.
@Lidový vůz na cestách if someone was to buy the golf gti mk8 can anything be done about carbonization that you mentioned with the golf gtl engine? What does this carbonization do to the engine? Can it damage the golf gti? Is there a way of releasing the carbonization? Sorry I am but novice when it comes to this stuff. So I’ve read your comments, would you say the polo gti os a better engine than the golf gti? I did drive. A polo gti and was amazed how fast it was. It was the same as my focus st3 to be honest. I currently own a golf r it I’ve had nothing but problems with it. I did think about the polo as it was so good. My only issue was lack of comfort mode, which the golf gti has lack of pops on the overrun. Which isn’t so important but nice little add. But the car overall was better than my golf R by a lot. Handles brilliant fast etc best looking as well. I was going to buy a golf gti mk8 over my golf R but I am bit worried about this carbonization you mentioned. And what can be done to clear this out etc
