@KatherineOfSky Do note that some cars' lengths are such that you cannot work on them together on the same line unless they have a little space between the stations. For example, the red sports car on the bottom will never have both stations active at once, because the car size infringes on the space.
Regarding the popularity: you can hype it up before release, growing popularity. When you press 'release' you get a +100% bonus to popularity growth that slowly goes down to 1%. You can have a car in the show room without even building the car, just growing its popularity so when you DO decide to release there is already an established demand for the car. Edit: Also brand goes up by +1% for every 100 points of popularity gained. Also also might want to check your storages' contents, they might be full of unused parts from changing productions.
@@KatherineOfSky I haven't had a need either. I felt it was more important to get a new line of cars on the salesfloor to attract the additional customers than it was to make sure the car was 'popular', since you'll typically start getting customers faster than you can produce.
Purchased this yesterday - It's fun. Things I've noticed. You do NOT need to assign mechanics to the lines, they'll go wherever they're needed - I have 1 or 2 assigned to each line, the rest I just leave to do whatever they like. Level 10 sales peeps are pretty good, and I think the higher level builders and logistics peeps are better too - it's really easy to spam out training as soon as you research it. Higher wages = better motivation = energy goes down much slower = less breaks = more work... There's probably a balance in there somewhere, but I've no idea where it is. I don't think you'll get more than about 5-6 episodes at most out of this at the moment... But it's a fun little game (I'm 6 hours in and I'm about finished)
You do not need to, but I like to assign them because they are wont to go and work on a random car and produce 10, and the other car doesn't get done at all. Assigning them ensures that each car gets some production
@@Vacuusimago you can visually see the increases in training researchers to see if its worth it or not to you. the higher skill the higher the blue point bubble is when they are working. im sur eits similar to other classes but we just cant see like that
11:07 Don't customer sometimes leave saying "car is bad quality"? Maybe by fixing the quality of cars for sale that will happen less often, or be prevented, so you get more sales.
I think they might expect you to build one long line. At least the painting, quality control and door could be the same one for all lines. Could save some space. And I dont think the quality control is a laser. Might just be a big lamp that allows the controller to check welds and stuff. But I can have misunderstood how it works since Im not the one playing.
It would make sense to have longer lines, but I'm not sure there's a huge incentive right now. Any one mechanic can easily assemble a complete car, garage doors are cheap, you can store all parts in one mixed pile, QA/painting stuff seems manageable too...
Yeah, I just recorded the episode where I build a 20-long line of assemblers. Its good with the (expensive) build bots, but that costs a fortune to set up
I feel like you need more mechanics if you pay attention they are only working on one car at a time each station can have 3 mechanics but you have 2 total per line.
Meditation Pillow name and the animation has me LOL! Also, sounds like those workers need a Union!! Glad you're paying them a more fair wage as they get their collective bargaining agreement in place. Did the door near the train get blocked by the assembly line station? The animation looks like some of them open the door then walk around the outside to garage door? The old style of cars is pretty fun, I agree. Hopefully that bug won't be too bad. Really fun game & series, thanks!
20:52 pause there, I think trained people do require more money - Robert Wilson is level 2 now and his motivation is low, looks like he wants more money
I think you’re going to need more space between platforms for the longer cars, they won’t be able to move to the next station forward enough to start another car.
Hello.. how did you get teh robot worked. I setup mine ( 1 order all parts are green ) but it never get refilled.. :( By the way I love your content, its relaxing to watch :D
I don't know if this is already implemented in the game or not, but in my opinion, when changing cars on the assembly line, it's worth paying attention to their target niche. For example, in this video you've taken all the sports cars off the production line and replaced them with family cars. Theoretically, this means that you stopped covering the sports car market segment, and oversaturated the family car market, which should have a negative impact on sales.
I have not seen any negatives at all... I keep selling cars about as fast as I make them. maybe later in the development process that will work differently. I had noticed that they are different types.
Things I have noticed, whilst you have low supply and high demand you can sell at 300% and reduce as you have stock. I have done fully automated lines, you need to set different robots to have different parts and they can work together. Quickest I have made a car is 10/12 days. It does put a strain on transport workers but I have to be honest and say I hadn’t noticed about motivation until watching your video. I like this game, sunk around 8 hours into it. Thank you for your videos, they are great. I need to find a start of a set of videos for Factorio as I want to adapt my gameplay as I normally quit out when it starts to get big and I have never used trains. :-)

Yep, Im aware, I think I mentioned that in the episode.
I *think* you can tell the quality of a car by how crooked they park it

I havent had any need to build popularity before selling a model, and dont have the space to do it anyway, but good to know

Pay increases Motivation which affects how much energy they spend doing things, higher motivation means less energy used which means fewer breaks.
The unfortunate part is that I've never found their productivity after levelling up to be worth paying them more.

There are limits on the number of employees you can hire.

Yep, that will happen when we buy more land.
Is it possible to merge conveyors from 2 production lines, so you can maybe only have one laser inspection per two lines? And also 1 door.
Interesting idea!
Katherine one can most certainly have high happiness and low motivation. Especially after a little herb.
HAHAHAHA
you need to pay them more as motivation drops
Yep!
You need another door for the transporters by the train side.
there is only one entrace from the train platform...

Thanks so much! You need to set up the ORders on the bots. Just like the storage zones.
In the 1890's would not your robots be driven by either clockworks or steam ?
Probably!

Yes, which is pretty funny when you have an automated factory in the late 19th century. :D

Nothing in random in my factory. Everything is very well organized, and turned to the movement of the staff.
