Thank you very much! I'm currently in Indonesia and making a second documentary. If you want to see some footage before it's ready you can follow my instagram account - justindagostino
Thank you for the questions! It was a small district within Samarinda and I do have the full raw footage. However, I helped organize for a conservation organization to come pick up the orangutan and take it to a rehabilitation facility. In doing so, there were some tense moments and some of the people did not want to be filmed. I respected their wishes and edited the footage so they were not included. In my next documentary, I will make sure to always have release forms and talk with as many people in advance to let them know the intentions of filming. I will be going back to Indonesia this summer for more research and will be doing another documentary to come out in 2018. Please check in for more updates!
Justin D'Agostino I'm so happy you arranged to have it rescued! Thank you. Why don't you just blur their faces? That way you can avoid any legal action against you and people like me can see the behind the scenes stuff. If you would do that if really appreciate it. Cheers
As a primatologist that works with conservation groups, it's my responsibility to do everything in my power to get/keep/help primates in their natural habitats. I currently don't have the editing resources or time to go through the footage. However, I will be able to when editing the next documentary and will make a note to go back and re-edit that scene. It will take a while and you might need to remind me, but I will get it done when it comes time to edit video footage again.
I like the transition at around 15:40. You say you hope you’ll get there in one piece and then the next scene is the door being stuck.
Thank you very much Zach! I had to be very flexible and try my best to stay optimistic in some tough situations.
What an amazing video about a culture I know virtually nothing about. The food looks lovely though I'd never stroke a porcupine with anything !

Video should be called “break downs in Indonesia” 😋
Haha perhaps break downs and get back ups. There were a lot of struggles but we always tried to get things working again.
Where's the footage of the pet Orangutan in the beginning of the video? Do you have some full length footage you can upload?? Thanks and cool video
