Thanks for doing this review. It's not just my favourite Fjallraven jacket, but probably my favourite jacket of any I own! So much so I bought the winter padded version. Keep up the good work mate.
I got the Skogso padded jacket and was surprised how it fitted me so well and very comfortable. I used the chest pockets and inner pockets quit a bit. I love it. Thanks for your reviews.
You wear the Skogsö padded in 40°C? I would die.@@AddyKapur @mjbucheeri i use it as temperatures drop below 10°C. Warmth is highly personal, but i think short stays outside under 1 hour just wearing a t-shirt underneath is comfortable.
As others have said, I wear mine during Spring, Fall, cool summer, Winter as well as a shell on top of my Arc'teryx Atom LT jacket or similar. Love the longer sleeve as well. One thing to note is that jacket does have a slimmer cut style to it than other. So I personally wear size large where as other shirts and such, I wear medium.
@@TedWeirum Would be great if fjallraven would indicate cut/fit style of each product. Also, can you please do a new review for the pants like Vidda Pro's? Look like they have been updated with "new improved fit" and seems sizing will vary compare to previous models.
Love this jacket, in late fall/winter I combined it with a Mountain Hardware Ghostwhisper! Good 11 months a year but maybe not on the coldest days! Perfect for hiking, fishing, job cycling jackets, it’s just very versatile 🤷♂️
Good review and as always a good laugh, I've bought this jacket recently and decided to buy this in the indigo blue and I love it. Wasn't sure about it at first as it seems very thin, see through, but I'll more than likely also wear it with a fleece or my expedition latt hoodie during dry weather in Autumn and Winter 😊 If it gets really cold then the Nuuk will come out of the wardrobe.
Have this jacket too and love it! Though as you say, when it rains and i’m on the bike the rain especially goes through on the forearms. In my opinion definitely not a rain jacket but an absolut lovely everyday jacket for windy weather!
Interesting. Because of the Side Zippers and the Velcro on the sleeves I went with the Abisko Lite Trekking Jacket this week. But this one was in my top 3 as well. 😉
Hey there. I am 1,85cm and close to 90kg. Usually wear Large but been wondering if this jacket would also be comfortable with wearing a slim fleece jacket beneath or a hoodie.
My experience with the Skogso jacket is that it´s a very good design but made with the wrong materials. It´s mostly made of G1000 lite with reinforcements (shoulders) of G1000 original. If you hold up the jacket to the sun you can see thru the thin G1000 lite material. If Fjallraven made this jacket out of G1000 original with reinforcements of G1000 heavy duty it would be the perfect jacket!
The padded version of the skogsö features a mix of G1000 and G1000 lite! It’s a different model but it looks the same :) the shoulders have the stronger G1000 and the body features the lite version
I've had my Skogso for a few years now. I love it. My pronounciation was way off, haha. I look no where as stylish. I've worn it in about every season. I have it waxed pretty good. The rain protection is not bad. I've been caught in some heavy rain for a short time and was dry. The double zipper is money on this jacket. A down vest, sweater and sweatshirt fits well underneath.
It's okay for a brief rain shower but anything more (even with a triple application of Gwax ) It'll let water in. It's also not great when it gets proper windy. Same for temperatures that dip below 10C. The sleeves are longer than my other jackets. In short it's good for a cool dryish day. I like mine (in Blue). I'm sure it'll last me many many years.
Hearing the proper pronunciations for these items is worth the price of admission! I definitely pronounced this "Skogg Zo" until today. The jacket looks a bit like a mix between Raven and Abisko Lite Trekking. Maybe even a bit of Yupik/Nuuk with that chest pocket layout. How does this compare weight and thickness wise to the Greenland jacket? (I just looked, Greenland is 140g heavier in size M). I've got my eye on one of those, and it looks like the Skogso comes in a couple additional colors. Black and Green is so boring on the Greenland. Skogso looks like a slightly less military-inspired version of the same Greenland style design, mildly more appropriate for the city, but certainly at home in the woods. I think I would spend the extra $40 and pick up a Greenland.
@@TedWeirum I think Keb Agile Winter trousers may've just jumped up to the "buying next" top spot. Have you had a chance to check them out? It looks like they might be the classic Keb Agiles made instead with the heavier, standard Keb weight stretch material. It looks like they've redesigned their entire pants lineup now. So glad I own $2,000 of the "Lousy old fit" editions, lol.
Thanks for another great review! I'm looking for a jacket with high breathability for bike commuting in the fall and spring, would you recommend this jacket, or is there another more suited for the task? I could of course buy a dedicated cycling jacket, but I'm more interested in a jacket that can also be used for everyday use.
Hello Ted, great review! I just bought this jacket in green colour. The orange shirt you are wearing in this video, is Fjallraven too? If so, which model is?
@@TedWeirum I'm about 1.83 cm, weight around 83-90 kg. Chest around 116cm, waist around 112 cm, seat around 120 cm. But your 3 xl is Chest is 124 cm waist 108 cm seat is 124. Only right is your hand length. I'd like to buy 2-3 size bigger so I could wear underneath 2-3 layers in the winter period and I could wear that jacket in the spring and the fall. Also I don't have belly. That's confusing man
@@TedWeirum No. But it's pointless to buy because it won't fit me. Could you pass this issue to Fjallraven guys maybe they will make more 4 -5-6 xl sizes in the future.
