6:50 In the mid 70's, I drove from Lawrence, KS (University of Kansas) to see Herbie Hancock play at the Landmark Inn in Union Station in Kansas City. This would be the second time I had seen the band play at this location. After the first set had ended, Mr. Maupin walked out into the crowd and stopped at my table. He told me I looked familiar and he was sure he'd met before. I told him he might have noticed me from my previous attendance the year before. I offered for him to sit at the table and chat. To my surprise, he accepted and spent the entire break talking with me. I can't begin to tell you what this meant to me. The people in this band were my heros. It was such a kind and generous thing for Mr. Maupin to do. I have such respect for this man. Thank you Mr. Maupin for this memory that I've held in my heart all these years. I'm 73 now.
I play the same horns as Bennie. he is only a few years older than me. His " Jewel in the Lotus" was encouraging to me æsthetically. I have enjoyed everything from him, from Horace Silver through his whole career. A real artist producing his voice through composition and a constant originality in his playing. Thank you Benny!
This is a couple of tunes from a concert at the Amazonas Jazz Festival from several years ago. The Bennie Maupin Ensemble is the most unusual and unique band I've ever played with. We've been hitting for a long time and it's always a fresh, surreal experience.
I Think good was my time with Him meeting in Zakopane Kasprowy Hotel on massage room too four time on the Koncert ( Zyta, Baranski, Tokay) Thanks for this nice time....💖🌻🌸🆓️🆒️🆗️🌲🌲🌲🌼🌷☀️👍👍☀️🌺🎷😎🎷😎🎷😎🌺✌👍✌🌺✌👍👌🌷👍✌✌✌
