If the judges think as you did, it'll be wonderful.
So happy that you point these 3 points out. Hate the hissing sounds too and my sensei always talk about not banging.
Oss
As a beginner I'm finding those videos so useful, thank you so much for sharing!
Agree on all 3 points....👏👏👏
Omg thank you!! I've been thinking and saying this for years but even on the tournament scene I mostly come across people thinking this is all a good thing and it drives me crazy lol.
Awesome Sensei
Thank you for this vid!
Yes ✌️ Good keep it up. Very absolutely and truly said I agree 💯% with you. Arigato
Please please please Sensi do tutorials on higher katas like those you made on heian kata!!!!!! They are really helpful
I often see the fist supinating at the very end of the punch, so that it snaps around at the point the arm has reached full extension. It looks powerful to the untrained eye and feels strong because it snaps hard. BUT, I believe the fist should be completely overturned a short distance before full extension so that the snap/thrust/kime is moving in the direction of the target.
잘 배워갑니다. 감사합니다.
시청 해 주셔서 감사합니다!
awsome video
🔥Nice bro. I need more japenese karate techniques on kata .
They're coming up!
Thanks for the videos Yusuke Sensei. I'm also a karateka. Oows 🥋🥊
Please react and comment on Rika Usami’s gold medal winning performance at World Championships. She makes me want to do katas.
That’s a legendary performance. Great idea!
Yes! No amount of words can describe her kata. You can only watch in amazement!
She is inspiring. I feel lucky to have a Sensei who trained under Sensei Inoue with her in Japan.
She's obviously a world class karateka. HOWEVER, she is probably the WORST offender of slapping the dogii during kata performances. If you do a review of her championship match, slow the speed to 0.25 and you'll see just how often she open hand slaps herself to produce sound. Which should be considered a foul in WKF rules.
Thanks to this vid i finally realize I've been doing kata in a wrong way
Lol my Sensei used to say to me whenever I did excessive noise, "if you wanna make noise your in the wrong class the Drumming lessons are down the hall".
Sheeeeesh
Seems we have similar sensei-s lol
I have a series of kata in Shorin Ryu and Shotokan
but they are for exercise only. Helps me to stay more limber at 71
Hi bro. Can you do a video about Heian Godan. Love your kata videos so much
Have watched you in a bit
welcome back!
I’m happy your posting again!! You should react to kpop girl group dancing in a karate perspective haha 🤣. Also, how are you and Natsu doing?
I’ll do ITZY then haha. We’re both doing fine :) thanks for asking
Kata Unsu tutorial next? I like that kata but can't perform it right
I'd recommend you to see a sensei for that, Unsu is a riskful kata, when you do it wrongly you may risk get injured because of the nature and force of the movements, specially the jump, which is hard af if you try to do it as senseis like Nakayama or Nishiyama used to ask it.
Master I am waiting for heian Godan tutorial oss 🙏
The 3 things you said is quiiiite frequent in competition katas, specially the last one, competitors like Luca valdessi use to smack their bodies, specially in shuto uke with kokutsu dachi in order to make it sound and look powerful. The sound made from a karate-gi shouldn't come from the gi but as a result from the kime
I totally agree with you
@@KarateDojowaKu oss!
Thanks for these,
Now I've a question what should I must need to learn shotokan Karate at the beginning..???
it would be nice to see you talk to the karate nerd. any plans on doing so?
Another one is thinking just because your Karate gi makes a loud snapping sound doesn't mean that you're the doing the kata properly
You should react to Muy Thia
Thanks for the video Sensei. Do you have any tips on how to stay relax and not being tense in doing kata? My Sensei always ask me to stay relaxed even though I already felt relaxed. I even think of sad thoughts to stay relaxed :D Hope you can share your thoughts.
hi, how about some analysis OF heian shodan kata ,arrigato gozaimashta
2:43
Imagine how that would sound out of context hehehe
Great tips though. Thank you.
React on The Kata Queen Rika Usami
👍
Hmm like u pointed out in the video. Maybe it’s only in certain schools where loud breathing is not allowed. I’m from the Goju-Ryu style and especially when we do Sanchin kata, we actually are encouraged to breathe heavily. But yes, you can tell which part of the body they are breathing with just by listening.
Yep! Deep breathing is the key regardless of styles
What do you think about Hirokazu Kanazawa ? I think he was one of the best Shotokan Karate Shihan.....
Sensai can u change your green screen picture its more like aikido dojo not karate dojo. Great vid
It's been changed now!
I remember an advertisement for karategi stating that these clothes were designed for extra loud snapping sounds.
Probably the most suspicious advertisement for a trained person
Just me but when I use to go to tournaments, many moons ago, stuff like that got higher scores because of the "appearance" . Now this was, of course, in America. I can only assume it is still being done with great results and many plastic trophies have been awarded.
I often catch myself stepping loudly or stomping. I don't do it on purpose and I hate it! Do you have any tricks to improve that?
I think it’ll help if you can practice getting the bottom of your foot parallel to the ground when you move!
A lot of people fakes. On the other side I have friends who has never ever trained karate (only watched it on TV) and you would be amazed how good they are at it. One time we were out with friends, and some smartasses attacked us and he could, in 10 secs, get them all to the ground. We asked him if he was a karateka and he said - no I have never trained officialy. I have learnt it watching on TV.
hay...i from indonesia..you cant riview matrial art from indonesia PENCAK SILAT tks
I know someone who performs kata with a smile, while his eyes keep looking around trying to make eye contact with whoever is watching to try to access if they are liking it.
It drives me mad... 😜
In your video that is titled "3 mintues ab workout" can I do that even I dont do karate??...even I'm not practicing or training karate,I hope I can learn soon..
Yeah of course! Please give it a try
@@KarateDojowaKu thanks!!also,do you have some tutorials about simple karate exercises and training to get good at karate, cuz I really want to train and learn martial arts including karate
You talk about 3 mistakes in kata for competition only. My kata would score very badly in a contest but I understand my kata and it’s application vert very well. My sensei taught me well and most “judges” would not be qualified to judge it.
I don't like seeing shortened arm movements made to make hand techniques look faster such as for shuto uke
I like your videos very much, b
ut what is the reason for this silly backround? I guess it is better to see you in a real room with original dimensions. In this fake room it is just confusing.
But nevertheless: I like your style of explaining very much!
But what is considered "too loud" when you "stomp" during movement. I understand that intentionally stomping for the sound is a horrible habit but what about unintentional "stomping" when trying to move quickly in a stance or if you are preforming on hard surface or a tatami (you can generally hear "stomping" when a kata is preformed on the floor more clearly than a tatami) so what is the rule of thumb to know that you need to work on stomping less or if it is fine?
Wish this doesn't sound like nonsensical rambling
Look up sarah calande
The snapping sound should come from your kime, not your dogi.
I would like to know how loud announcements (of the kata name) ever became popular with Japanese competitors. I notice these people are usually quite young, but even some in their 20's, still scream out the kata name. As a westerner, it is quite difficult to understand what they announced anyway.
You mean when they stretch the kata name and scream it out loud like
KANKUU DAIIGH
Because some people announce the kata name quickly and cleanly like this awesome gentleman: ua-cam.com/video/iYnwgPZie10/v-deo.html
@@Froge4291 Yes that sort of thing. Plus a bow (rei) which is so slow and ponderous that it looks as if they have shat their pants.
@@BelloBudo007 the slow and ponderous bow is usually among children
@@BelloBudo007 children usually like to stretch: announcements, bows and kiais
Here is a youtube link to the Ultimate in Fake Kata: ua-cam.com/video/FISIY9s9S6U/v-deo.html (I like calling it Menstrual No-kata)
These makes me cringy
Super loud and long Kihaps. I mean come on
These are all good points but if you look at all the WKF stuff and the All Japan Tournament everyone is doing at least one or two of the things you listed in this video.
As much as some people do not like it, the reality is that if the judges like it and the person who is doing it wins tournament, that becomes the standard.
The idea of doing proper kata died when the tournament system was implemented, everything went to showmanship. Just look at the team kata bunkai, it's a mess.
Excessive kiai.
I never though about that, but if it's extremely excessive, then yeah I guess so
@@KarateDojowaKu Thinking of the people that essentially scream through the entire kata. As an example: ua-cam.com/video/xbYMIqczxzw/v-deo.html
@@MarioBroZero OMG what is this...
Karate Dojo waKu I...I just don’t know, but it seems painful.
@@MarioBroZero oh dear gods of the NetherRealm, what was THAT?
Fake is not an element of dojo kun.
What's your point?
Too many/Xtra loud Kiai (& Saying "kiai")
The dogi slapping is really annoying, and really obvious.
