Just a couple notes for anyone performing this repair: - This system uses iPhone 7/8 screws. You'll need a ph0000 phillips head and Pentalobe p2 head, which are so small the screws can still be difficult to remove. But it'll work. - If you replaced the keyboard and are experiencing unresponsive keys / double strikes, this is most likely due to shorting from the keyboard cover. The black sheet you take off is not the backlight, but a cover, and it's made of metal. Sometimes when you remove this from the original keyboard, it will peel off some of the black (plastic) material, exposing the metal. You can see this happening at 10:03, where it sticks to the keyboard. You'll want to put a few strips of electrical tape over the exposed metal on the cover to avoid shorting keys on the new keyboard.
Hi There, thanks for the video. Can you tell me whats the type of screw driver do I need to open this? I have a huge set but none fits, looks like pentagonon. Can you point out which size / type? Thanks!
This screw looks like it needs a philips (cross) head screwdriver ? I tried the smallest I had #0000 but it was too soft and just gave way. Any suggestions for a cr-v one maybe ?
AliExpress. Model 2015, 16 an 17 have different keyboard. Check it twice before buying. m.aliexpress.com/wholesale/a1534-keyboard.html?categoryId=100005067

1) Sound communicates how much *force* your apply to components. 2) More people are casting to their home SmartTVs and other devices like an Xbox. Like most humans, we share space with other humans, thus casting this to a device from a video queue would blasted the hell out of my roommate and neighbors. That said, I will look for another video that doesn't sound like a chase scene from 'Running Man'. Thanks.

i kept getting issues with a new keyboard, it was very intermittent. Thanks to your post I found the problem. Thanks
Would it not be better to heat the Black backing and Keyboard up with a Hair dryer to make the adhesive come off easier?
Thanks to your video I got mine all fixed up. Well other than the screen not turning off when the lid closes now.
Thank you! This is a great video.
Next time use heat to remove the black layer and then the keyboard from frame
good advice, thx
"Black layer" == backlight?
This video convinced me not to replace my keyboard 😂
hey can i use 2017 keyboard in my 2016 macbook?
2016/17 it’s basically the same. 2015 is different.
@@fixstudioTV What if i use a 2016 on a 2015 laptop?
What is the size of the screw driver at 6:16? Pentalobe P1?. Pentalobe P2 doesn't fit.

You will need to get a P2 Precision Pentalobe Screwdriver to get those world tiniest keyboard screws out.
where can I buy the first ribbon cable you disconnected?
Look on eBay: 821-1935-07
Does anybody know if the 2017 keyboard for the MacBook 12 is it more reliable? I know it has the second generation keyboard
Technically, but not a huge difference.
Nice video, but the soundtrack is very distracting.
Thx... what is your advice to next one?
There is a mute button next to the volume keys on most laptops. Also the youtube player itself has a volume slider as well
Just turn the Volume down! LOL
What screw size should I use? 4:46
Did you ever figure this out? I’ve run into the same issue after trying the smallest screwdriver in my set unfortunately
@@zacharycrosby8626 Dude, absolutely. You will need to get a P2 Precision Pentalobe Screwdriver.
@@GabrielRodriguez-um8fi Amazing - greatly appreciate the response!
