  • We drove the new Hurricane engine in the 4cyl Wrangler. This additional option on the Wrangler that does not necessarily provide any additional benefits other than driving dynamic. What is the right call 4cyl or V6? Lets hash it out! eco torque, mild hybrid?

I work for Jeep and own a few 4.0 XJs but anyways honestly when they first came out I was never able to upsale it because Jeep fans know the 3.6 is a long proven motor but after 3 years of being around them I needed buying myself one ! Such a fun motor

Just got the 2022 2.0 I4, Rubicon. More power than any prior V6 Jeep owned. Very pleased with it and its towing capability as well.

Love the Turbo 4. I was VERY apprehensive but it was loaded with Leather and the right color. I guarantee this thing is traded before the warranty is up though.

Had my 2019 2.0L JLU Rubicon for almost 2 years now. 61k miles on her. She's been an absolute pleasure!!! I'm in Colorado Springs and go skiing every year and explore the abandoned gold mines every summer. There isn't anything this Jeep hasn't been able to overcome. 2" MOPAR lift with 35" tires on factory wheels. Only used the winch for other Jeeps and Fords. Absolutely love her but there have been times I have wondered if I went with the right engine (particularly when looking at aftermarket add-ons). The supreme fuel is more expensive but I'm okay with it.

Great video. The 4 feels great to drive. I was ready to buy one then I watched this video. This is the first and only video with the mention of this engine requiring 91 octane. I spent 15 years with an Acura with those requirements paying $.30-.50 more at the pump per gallon to get the stated mpg. NO WAY am I doing that again! That's like $300 more per year in fuel plus turbo maintenance. I know "recommended ", which means poor fuel economy and more maintenance if you don't.

I was very skeptical about the 2.0 turbo. I decided to go with it simply because the rest of the unlimited had everything we wanted. I am impressed. The power and the feeling of being pressed into the seat on acceleration is a hoot. We will be trading to a 2022 and I will chose the 2.0 Turbo

My jeep is the gladiator rubicon with the 3.6 automatic - a good rig!

I’m enjoying my 2.0L Wrangler. You can use 87/89 octane, but you’ll definitely experience pinging under heavy acceleration. I use 93 octane in mine and avg 25 mpg on my back road commute to work. On the hwy it gets about 23 ish. I’ll probably grab a piggy back tuner at some point, adds around 40-50 HP for around $500. It’s already pretty quick, as I was able to hang with a Ford Raptor for awhile, but he eventually started pulling away. With a tune I’m sure I would of hung in there a lot longer. Anyway, thanks for the video.

We run 87 octane gas in our 4 banger turbo rubicon. We typically get about 21 mpg around town. We haven't taken it on any long road trips, so don't know mpg on long runs. It works very well in our Alaskan snow.

The guy says this doesn't get good mileage! Wow! I have a 2020 2.0L turbo and it gets 27-28 consistently. And dont step on it unless you want to get pushed back in your seat.

I just purchased a 2022 Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon. Jeep decreased the price by $500 on an ordered Wrangler for the 4 cyl and the 8.5 inch screen is now standard. Compared to a friend's 2020 Rubicon with a 3.6L V-6, I am getting 2 miles per gallon better mileage on regular gas. I get better highway mileage (23MPG v. 20 MPG) also on regular gas. He has not modded his Wrangler and my mods are sitting in the back waiting for the weather to warm up so that I can install them. And I like the push off the line. I get much better acceleration with the I-4 than he does with the V-6. I am very happy with the 4 cyl Wrangler!

Thanks for this video. Its the only one I saw that mentioned the 91 octane recommendation for the 4cyl.

Love my 2020 2.0. Running 38s on factory 4.10 gears and this thing screams up the mountains and I have ample power at elevation unlike my V6 buddies.

Rented a Jeep this week for vacation. First thing I noticed was the engine was the best engine I have ever driven with. It’s the turbo. We are going to buy a Rubicon now. Coming from Mercedes we always said we would never own a Jeep but driving one changed our mind for sure.
