It seriously warms my heart that right before she died she got the chance to have that whole bit where Dave walked off and she got to do a joke and tell the audience “we’ll be right back after this” like she did on the Tonight Show. Joan ALWAYS showed up with 120%. She’s the best
I always have loved Joan! I saw her the day she got on the plane and said the stuff about BHO. And his spouse. I cringed. Then I heard she died. I was like that was a hit. Omg!
this was a HUGE deal. thank you David. Joan was shut out from late night sadly for years and you re-opened the door for her. Her appearance tonight and the many others after on your show made me smile and happy for her that she was BACK
Hey David really didn’t do her a favor. David did not invite her in her hard days ( Carson mess) because he was loyal to Carson. To me letterman is a kiss ass like Jay Leno. After Carson retired, letterman started to invite Joan again.
Thank you so very much for posting this. What an excellent video! I've been a fan of Joan ever since I was a kid and was fortunate to have seen her live twice as well as be in the audience for her Fox show. A page took my "Enter Talking " book backstage to Joan and she autographed it - that was in 1986 and it still thrills me. Thank you again and take care.
I ABSOLUTELY LOVED HER. I had just watched her the night before she passed. She was reassuring Melissa and her staff that she would be fine. I genuinely was shocked and saddened by her passing. It took me a few months to get passed my disbelief. 💫💯
My best friend from high school reminded me of Joan so much. She died in 2008. We laughed all the time. Mary had that same cute little hair do. Now I have dreams about her and we’re always laughing. So I wake myself up laughing out loud.
At Melissa’s house Joan’s bedroom was to the left of the front door. They made her room and bathroom out of the big garage. It was a darling room. And a huge closet. lol
I just came across this and two of the best hours in a very long time on youtube. I saw Joan ages ago in Hamilton Ontario shortly after my father killed himself. This was a gift from my sister as she knew I loved Joan. My Nana and I would watch her on late night and laugh and laugh. Joan may be gone a few years now but never never never forgotten..... Miss the comedy genius of Joan Rivers.
She was also the voice of the announcer on the 70's Letterman cartoon via The Electric Company. Coincidence that she appears on the legendary Letterman?
As a non American, it's interesting how these shows have such a formula. The man behind a desk sitting to the right of the guests; the band; the backdrop
Carson was still alive in 2002 when Letterman had Joan on for the first time since the Fox breakaway. That took courage. I wonder if Dave called Johnny to ask him if it was okay.
Hey but Carson was retired from the show business in 2002. I don’t know why people think David had courage when he invited Joan in 2002. Why didn’t he invite Joan in 1988 ( the time she needed the most)
Absolutely loved watching all these, there were some I hadn’t seen. I love so much how she laughed so much at her own jokes, especially the Adele jokes and the one about the Australian kid. The best out of them all was when she said “Why twelve toes?!”
TV Hosts and crew dislike children and kids. They are not allowed to be there. I was once a kid and was not allowed to be in the audience on a show where my father was going to be interviewed. So I was set backstage. They couldn't care less about me. They just wanted me to sit down in a chair in a small narrow room for hours. I didn't. I would wonder off. One time I was behind the stage curtains and I almost burst in there witch could have ruin the live program. I didn't because I was a child but I had sense. From this small experience I could immediately sense reality is opposite to what you see and feel wile watching at home. It is all fake. Even the nicest host can be abnóxios rude and not nice when its off camera.
Lot of tension in getting something right. I could imagine. Hosting looks apparently easy but it's a lot of multi-tasking. Narcissists are great at acting btw.
It took Letterman many, many, many years to invite Joan on his show after her Fox show failed. Joan was banned from NBC because of Johnny Carson and Letterman did NOT invite her on his show in the 1980s or 1990s.
Yes, I was lucky to get in at the beginning after hearing about him from some friends who were night owls. I had to tape him on my VCR since I had a day job but loved it all the same.
Here's some background: Goldie Hawn had much respect for Joan Rivers as you can see on her Tweet tribute. Goldie Hawn even said PC is ruining comedy. We need to have humility and "laugh at ourselves" as Don Rickles once put it. Rivers and Rickles made fun of themselves a lot, especially Rivers.
Everyone or the smart ones, For a strict catholic to listen to her is taboo but who can not listen to her raw rustic humor is off limits but I must watch it. The entire together is a job & pre-fabrbicated to get our money & she's worth every penny for the real real dark hidden side of life. Much is true. It's just all a joke to make up the misery. Respectfully, frank A.Collette lll
If Don Rickles and Rodney Dangerfield had a baby...she reminds of both but is always distinctly herself. For me, she's as annoying as she is funny, which is very. I really like her in small doses which this video is perfect for. Thanks for another winner in this series.
My age allows me to remember watching Joan Rivers through the years and certain jokes that she often told. But after watching her justify her stinging remark about Lindsey Lohan and her substance struggles, and because someone responded to it she comes on Letterman telling the story as if she was victimized. Well no more watching or listening to her recorded noise anymore.
Joan was always good in short bursts. Like one day a week subbing for Johnny. But she didn’t wear well every night for late night. That’s what did her show in. Not everybody is a lead.
It seriously warms my heart that right before she died she got the chance to have that whole bit where Dave walked off and she got to do a joke and tell the audience “we’ll be right back after this” like she did on the Tonight Show. Joan ALWAYS showed up with 120%. She’s the best
And the audience was loving towards her

@gracieg7601 oh politicians are dirty people, especially the O and now the B one!
I'm sure God will always recognize you Joan. You had the greatest spirit and will 'live forever'.
this was a HUGE deal. thank you David. Joan was shut out from late night sadly for years and you re-opened the door for her. Her appearance tonight and the many others after on your show made me smile and happy for her that she was BACK
Dave went nuts after leaving NBC
Hey David really didn’t do her a favor. David did not invite her in her hard days ( Carson mess) because he was loyal to Carson. To me letterman is a kiss ass like Jay Leno.
After Carson retired, letterman started to invite Joan again.
Don't rewrite history. Letterman was no hero regarding Joan.
@@florinest exactly! I agree with you
@@omarhalimi1685Leno didn't invite her because he was kissing NBC's ass not Carson's lol.
Thank you for providing all of her interviews on her show all together! So great to have access to this. Miss her so much lately
Same here 😔
Yeah I used to watch QVC when she was on there just to see what Joan would do or say!
I hardly ever bought anything.
Thank you, nice compilation, she is missed every day!

Joan was absolute FIRE her entire life. She had me rolling every time I saw her. Every. Single. Time. She went way too soon.
I ABSOLUTELY LOVED HER. I had just watched her the night before she passed. She was reassuring Melissa and her staff that she would be fine. I genuinely was shocked and saddened by her passing. It took me a few months to get passed my disbelief. 💫💯
It was nice that this was put together. I've seen them all separately but it is so great to see them all at once.
Yes what an icon.
My best friend from high school reminded me of Joan so much. She died in 2008. We laughed all the time. Mary had that same cute little hair do. Now I have dreams about her and we’re always laughing. So I wake myself up laughing out loud.
Continental air is out of business. Lol

Thank you so much for this. She is a comedy legend! I love these interviews

Everything she has said, came through a love filter. That was her talent
She was also the voice of the announcer on the 70's Letterman cartoon via The Electric Company. Coincidence that she appears on the legendary Letterman?
The funniest woman to ever live! ❤️👑
This is brilliant 👏 I love her This is my first time seeing her. I will look for all Joan live performances Thanks
Joan never missed a beat 💯
Thanks so much for this compilation
This is the best, thanks so much for putting this together :)

Ok 😵💫
Your videos are powering me through a long and strict lockdown here. Many thanks 🙏
I hope you are doing okay?
I feel like I'm living in an alternate timeline.
Christmas blessings to you. 🤝
wonderful stuff. thank you.

Another interesting dynamic is Peter Lassally also maintained hard feelings about Joan Rivers: ua-cam.com/video/6ZZBJ7DawYw/v-deo.html

Joan was on contract to come on Carson every so often. After they didn’t renew her contract was when Fox offered her a job as a talk show host.
This is just perfect. U made my friday. We dont need fancy or expensive friday anything. Just a good JR video
THATS SO TRUE... THATS WHAT I DO ON MY WEEKENDS ! I LOVE JR
wow this is cannon. brilliant Joan, thanks Joan.
This is some of the funniest stuff I’ve ever seen. Incredible.

Love her to bits already ❤️❤️❤️❤️
I’m repeating myself but who cares??

That woman have style,, all her outfits. Funny and glam

Thank you so much........
1:14:09 'bendy over betty' 🤣
When Joan got to Heaven Sam Kinison screamed 😱
Did Joan rivers write a book called always leave them laughing?
Google is your friend.
Women you are awesome...REST IN PEACE! You will always be in my heart ❤️
The funniest female comedian
Great to see her again! And I love her hair.
@1:42:35 so eerie, 2 months later she was gone
"gone." (you misspelled "Murdered.")
@@ihavefallenandicantreachmy2113 Are you sure about that?
@@ashashraa6579 I am sure, but, only because "Evidence."
And 35 years later, that baby is still in therapy.
Mike Tyson ate it.

Hey what was that song at 31.00..thanks in advance😇
All explained here - ua-cam.com/video/0wEGnTatGgQ/v-deo.html
Tragic how she died considering how open she is about plastic surgery
"died" (You misspelled "was Murdered")
What was the name of the song they play when Joan comes out?
At different entrances, two selections from Ohio Players’ “Skin Tight.” Original recording here - ua-cam.com/video/oBG3qpYj5DU/v-deo.html

I don't get the joke at 8:50 where she says she was rooting for Kathy Bates in Misery?
Have you seen the film?
Call 912 😂😂😂🤣🤣
YES DON! YOU WON!

The baby thing was very strange. Aside from being in a large strange place, maybe he was cold since he wasn't wearing any clothes.

The night of her surprise walk-on, she had been scheduled to appear but cancelled.
Brilliant. I'm always amazed by the amount of idiots who don't 'get' Dave and this show. It's embarrassing.
Yes, I was lucky to get in at the beginning after hearing about him from some friends who were night owls. I had to tape him on my VCR since I had a day job but loved it all the same.
I think some still didnt get him till the end. Anyway, they’re idiots or what we call now, “triggered”.
Too funny 😂 ‘ RIP
What does she have against Goldie Hawn?!
It's just Jokes.

Martin Mull was never Martin Dull.
He is the only one who would have had the. Yes.
More people upvoted Joan Rivers' part than either of Carson's. This is what has happened to the world.
"Six million light years from Mars", eh?

What happened to late night talk shows, we’re left now with Jimmy fallons, Jimmy kimmels, Stephen Colberts, Seth Meyers, the shit-list is long.

Well, Joan did die in her sleep
