I was gifted around 200 of those fancy colorful binder clips and never knew what to do with the majority, but thanks to you, now I do!. I am about to receive 20 pocket squares, but I plan to double that in the next year or 2, seeing this is perfect timing. Thanks!
+Patrick Novotny (The Tie Guy) You really should add an annotation to this video or a note to others to let them know it is much easier to open the binder clip. Literally takes about 5 seconds to take the binder clip apart and add to the hanger than to pull the hanger apart and risk breaking it. Also, I haven't looked to see if you have done it yet, but I would also like to see what ideas you have for tie organization in the same DIY type idea.
Exactly!!!.........I was just about to reply!!...His doing that the hard way!!...But it's a good ideal, But I have both lot of ties and pocket squares, hankies, pocket puffs!, What ever you want to call them so I would need more than one hanger!!............Now I seen a few good ideals for the ties, like many roll them up! in a drawer type deal!! But I would need the whole dresser!!!.... lol!! SMH!!!
As a man known as The Pocket Square Guy in the Insurance Business, I have accumulated a lot of pocket squares. I like this idea EXCEPT for the fact that you have to be very careful to open the binder clip to remove the square, otherwise just pulling out the square can cause serious damage as the binder clips are not padded.
Patrick, your square organizing hanger is a GREAT idea!!! Thanks. I have over 40 squares laid out flat in a dresser drawer, one on top of another and it's a hassle finding the one I want, but not anymore thanks to you!!! Below, Koohyar az wrote about a problem I once had of the squares falling down into the suit pocket until I stumbled onto a simple fix. Using plain cardboard (like from a shipping box) I cut 3 rectangle pieces that will all fit into my suit pockets and hidden just below the top of the pocket. One has a dome shape at the top, another has a 45 degree slanted top edge, a third one has a 1" wide dome that sticks out of the top of the pocket, and 2 more that are square in shape. Depending on the depth of the pocket, and how much cardboard I want above the top of the pocket, I can use one of the cardboard squares as an extension, and with rubber-bands, hold the two pieces of cardboard together (making the rectangle taller). I attach the fabric square to the top of the cardboard, and any excess material from the square that normally just gets folded behind, now wraps around the cardboard. The folded fabric square is then held in place using 1 or 2 more rubber-bands around the cardboard. Any cardboard that is needed above the top of the pocket, is hidden by the fabric square being wrapped over it. Now they never loose their shape or disappear into the pocket!!!
+Doug McLean That's amazing and a constant problem with man pocket square wearers. I can kind of picture what you are describing, but if you had a video or pictures of what you made I would love to see it. Ofcourse if it is helpful to others I would make a video so more people will not suffer with our falling pocket squares.. Thank you again Doug.
+Patrick Novotny (The Tie Guy) I will take a few pictures in the next few days from start to finish for you. I think it would be a really good idea for you to make a video (you have the followers). I can be reached at: mcleandj8@yahoo.com How can I get the pictures to you?
Your threee videos are a wonderful help , and just to throw this out there... I know you probably get alot of people saying you should make videos about this and about that. But your the real deal and I believe you would let us know what looks presentable and what looks silly. I truly believe you should make a video about suits (tuxedo suits and regular dress suits. How you can wear them and how you should't wear them. I mean i have my ideas but still I would like to see someone else perspective. Like what color shirts go good with certain color ties. Do we always need pocket squares for both tuxedo suits and regular dress suits. See what I'm getting at? I know your pretty legit in what you know about this kind of attire. For example I was wearing a suit jacket one day and I had both of my two buttons (theres only two on it) buttoned and another guy told me to unbutton the bottom one. He said the top one "Always" button (except when you go to sit and the bottom one you "Never" button. Is this a dress code rule? Please enlighten me about this sir.
Yes, definitely and I always appreciate suggestions. Especially when it comes to classic rules of style which if you are not following them can make one appear sloppy. I have many social engagements coming up and I will do videos on how I will dress up and include rules for the occasion and most definitely cover the basics such as which buttons are to be done up or never done. To answer your question the guy was correct. The top button always done up and unless you are sitting then you will undo the button on your jacket. While standing your jacket will always be done up with the bottom button undone. Thank you for the great suggestion, comment, and for watching.
My clients who have pockets sqaures would not want to use binder clips on their Hermes or similar brand luxury items. Those binderclips would need to be dipped in something that couldn't scratch or tear silk. I'll keep looking for ideas.
+Patrick Novotny (The Tie Guy) Thanks Patrick for showing this way of organizing the pocket square. I already made mine. I got one more question and that's about pocket square holder.my pocket square always slips and goes inside pocket after wearing. I recently spent 30 dollars for it. Do you have any other cheap alternative for it so I could return that?:)
+koohyar az I've tried many methods to try and fix this problem and the best thing that works is not to buy small pocket squares. Having a card in the pocket doesn't seem to work. Double sided poster tape has worked in the past, but it's a pain in the butt to get right. I have seen products out there that attempt to fix this and if I can get my hands on one I will do a video review on it to see if it works.
Patrick, great idea, but those binder clips come apart easier than the hanger does. You just press the one side of the clip together and it comes off.

You can open the binder clips a lot easier than than the hanger.
+jarheadkb yes.

you can also use clothespins
This. lols. +

Curtain rings with clips would work well here too. You can get a pack of them at Home Depot or Lowe’s in different finishes.
LOL! "I don't know where you buy these. " That is so true. Where the hell do those generic hangers come from?! Lol. Classic!
+RED LEGG I know eh?
I usually just throw a few garments in the dry cleaners.
I wonder if the metal clips would snag the silk on a pocket square, I’ll try to find plastic clips
Good idea
Thanks so much Patrick! Works like a charm.
Thank you Sir. Glad I could help.
You should do a review of this product. I have one and I like it. www.bestpocketsquareholder.com/

I even had problem with big one too. I just bought leather made holder. Im just Waiting to arrive. I hope it works
+koohyar az Let me know how it works out. I might have to buy one as well.
Nice hack
😊
Having only ever seen you tie ties and scarves and cravats and fold pocket squares, it looked odd to see you use a pair of pliers. I don't know why.
+Symon Fobbester Lol. I never thought about that, but your right :)
Genius
Hey Patrick, time to go bald-shave, youre having a comb-over. Noooot nice.
