Traditional Chinese voice training and singing has a heavy emphasis on a very forward placement and nasal resonance. It’s different than western training. That’s what you can hear. From a voice perspective, you should react to his song Child from Singer 2018.

Oh yes, as many Dears of Dimash I continued to watch Singer 2018 and found Hua Hua. Such incredible musical talent. I have since especially enjoyed going back to watch his performances at TV-shows when he had to rearrange a song in 24 h like Dad I'm home (be sure to have english subs and tissues!). I love both Dimash and Hua Hua for being humble human beings and singers with a lot of integrity. Amazing talents!

Hello Master Andy ... I'm a big fan of Dimash's voice, but I admit I also like Hua Chenyu, he has a very beautiful voice, very creative on stage and interesting lyrics. No wonder it is a success in your country. I met Hua watching Singer 2018 and was impressed, but I also really enjoyed singer Tengri, another Mongolian gem. I found very talented Asian singers of beautiful voice. Westerners are unaware of Asian talent. Hua has a lot of beautiful songs. My favorite is ORDINARY PATH ... Congratulations! You just discovered the most versatile young singer/composer in Asia! In fact, I haven't found a similar artist who is as versatile as him in western yet... "Wukong/Qi Tian" is his original song, a theme song wrote for movie "Wukong", which uses a unique chord progression, half western and half Chinese style. As you may already know，this song is about the fictional character The Monkey King. If you listen closely，the rapping part has a overlapping track of what sounded like some low humming sounds，that's the Six Syllable Mantra （Oṃ Maṇi Padme Hūṃ, sung by the monk in the background）. In the story，this is what the Buddha used to keep the Monkey King under imprisonment for 500 years. There is actually a 'battle' going on in the song......

He participated in "The Next" show for two seasons because it challenged his ability to compose. For Hua's performances, its good to get the Eng Subs as it helps to understand his interpretations. But even if you can't find it, it's still great. He's well recognized for his composing ability, vocal and dramatic stage performance.

this song is about Sun Wukong. He's both intellectual and warrior. So the singing part is him wondering things about life, rap part is about domination and taking over. check out Nunchucks by Hua Chenyu at singer 2018. He is just fantastic. in 2013 i think he won a competition in china that started his career. Like Dimash he's versatile, but in different ways of course. Also like Dimash he got 2nd place in singer. Dimash comes from a very supportive and loving family, Hua Chenyu not so much and I think thats part of why he's more edgy. Love em both! HuaHua composes all his songs, but he does not write lyrics. He says its music that fills his head, not words :)
I know this is a very old video post, but I just saw your comment today! I've thought quite a bit about Dimash and Hua Chenyu because they are similar in many ways but also very different. I do agree that a lot of their difference probably comes from the differences in their family lives. Dimash is very creative, but he is also very reserved and controlled in his approach. Hua Hua lets all his feeling fly freely it seems. I think Dimash is like a domesticated tiger while Hua Chenyu is like a wild one! Both are amazing artists and I'm very glad they weren't on the Singer competition at the same time!

Lol, Thank you for Chenyu. He is a surprise with every song. You will find he has his own style like Dimash. They do their own thing and they do it amazingly. If you want to see incredible acting while doing music, watch his " Dad, I'm Home", and "Fake Monk" with English subtitles so you can understand what he is saying.
The lyrics and the story behind them were so inspiring and meaningful. ‘Equal to Heaven’ was related to the epic story of Monkey King (Sun Wukong as his name) fighting against evil forces , seeking truth and Buddhist scriptures in a classical novel called Journey to the West. At the beginning of the story, he called himself ‘Great Sage Equal to Heaven’ leading a group of monkeys located in Flower and Fruit Mountain and dared to challenge the authority of Jade emperor of heaven. Then he got defeated and trapped under Five-Finger Mountain transforming from fingers of Buddha. After 500 years, Tang Monk of Tang Dynasty came to save him, so Monkey King and other 2 guys helped Tang Monk fight against evil forces , seek truth and finally obtained the Buddhist scriptures. It was a really moving and inspiring story.

After so many years fed by the US/UK music machine its refreshing to hear something out of China. Like Russia there is so much talent we usually never hear of. He has his own style and I enjoy very much the Beethovenesque piano style. As a composer I end up listening more to the composition and production, which is just excellent.

'hoo-wAH chen-YOU', when you google him, emerged on the Chinese stage through a Chinese reality show as a gawky, nerdy teenager who chose to play his own rather strange/unique music before a panel of profesional judges. One of the coaches connected artistically with him and the rest is history. Check out his 'Fake Monk' that he also sang on 'The Singer.' It's a slow, very artistic piece that absolutely commands one to add closed captions in order for you to feel its full effect. Will happily add my two cents to yours should you choose to react. Like Dimash, he likes to keep you guessing on what you'll hear next. He loves to mix genres. He also plays several instruments. He does a lot of duets, including "Perhaps Love" that's styled like a Broadway song.
If you'd like to react to one of his songs that doesn't have a rap section, then I would recommend "I am what I am". It's a very special song for him, he said it's the only song he won't ever rearrange, and also it's the last song in all of his concerts. The history of the song itself is sad, and the lyrics beautiful.

His tongue placement at times is a bit odd and it looks strange but it never has a negative effect on his ability to deliver the notes perfectly. I noticed that there are quite a few requests for you to react to his performance of "Child" on the Singer 2018. I also highly recommend that song because it will give you a better feel for his talent. "Child" starts very low and slow and for that reason many listeners do not appreciate the complexity of the song. It is perhaps his most challenging song that he sang on the Singer and he delivered it to perfection. Literally every note of that performance is perfect and you can see how he made choices in his delivery. It also contains (IMO) the most breathtakingly clear head voice (from a man) about a quarter of the way into the song. You will know what part I am referring to when you hear it because it will send chills down your spine. I almost forgot, "Equal to Heaven" is one of Hua Chenyu's own creations and he wrote it for a very popular movie in China. I have seen the music video for this song and the music video uses scenes from the movie. It appears to be sort of a sci/fi fantasy movie wrapped in traditional Chinese undertones. If you watch the music video you will get a better understanding of why the rap sections are there.

this song is about Sun Wukong. He's both intellectual and warrior. So the singing part is him wondering things about life, rap part is about domination and taking over. check out Nunchucks by Hua Chenyu at singer 2018. He is just fantastic. in 2013 i think he won a competition in china that started his career. Like Dimash he's versatile, but in different ways of course. Also like Dimash he got 2nd place in singer. Dimash comes from a very supportive and loving family, Hua Chenyu not so much and I think thats part of why he's more edgy. Love em both! HuaHua composes all his songs, but he does not write lyrics. He says its music that fills his head, not words :)

I know this is a very old video post, but I just saw your comment today! I've thought quite a bit about Dimash and Hua Chenyu because they are similar in many ways but also very different. I do agree that a lot of their difference probably comes from the differences in their family lives. Dimash is very creative, but he is also very reserved and controlled in his approach. Hua Hua lets all his feeling fly freely it seems. I think Dimash is like a domesticated tiger while Hua Chenyu is like a wild one! Both are amazing artists and I'm very glad they weren't on the Singer competition at the same time!

Lol, Thank you for Chenyu. He is a surprise with every song. You will find he has his own style like Dimash. They do their own thing and they do it amazingly. If you want to see incredible acting while doing music, watch his " Dad, I'm Home", and "Fake Monk" with English subtitles so you can understand what he is saying.

The lyrics and the story behind them were so inspiring and meaningful. ‘Equal to Heaven’ was related to the epic story of Monkey King (Sun Wukong as his name) fighting against evil forces , seeking truth and Buddhist scriptures in a classical novel called Journey to the West. At the beginning of the story, he called himself ‘Great Sage Equal to Heaven’ leading a group of monkeys located in Flower and Fruit Mountain and dared to challenge the authority of Jade emperor of heaven. Then he got defeated and trapped under Five-Finger Mountain transforming from fingers of Buddha. After 500 years, Tang Monk of Tang Dynasty came to save him, so Monkey King and other 2 guys helped Tang Monk fight against evil forces , seek truth and finally obtained the Buddhist scriptures. It was a really moving and inspiring story.

After so many years fed by the US/UK music machine its refreshing to hear something out of China. Like Russia there is so much talent we usually never hear of. He has his own style and I enjoy very much the Beethovenesque piano style. As a composer I end up listening more to the composition and production, which is just excellent.

'hoo-wAH chen-YOU', when you google him, emerged on the Chinese stage through a Chinese reality show as a gawky, nerdy teenager who chose to play his own rather strange/unique music before a panel of profesional judges. One of the coaches connected artistically with him and the rest is history. Check out his 'Fake Monk' that he also sang on 'The Singer.' It's a slow, very artistic piece that absolutely commands one to add closed captions in order for you to feel its full effect. Will happily add my two cents to yours should you choose to react. Like Dimash, he likes to keep you guessing on what you'll hear next. He loves to mix genres. He also plays several instruments. He does a lot of duets, including "Perhaps Love" that's styled like a Broadway song.

His tongue placement at times is a bit odd and it looks strange but it never has a negative effect on his ability to deliver the notes perfectly. I noticed that there are quite a few requests for you to react to his performance of "Child" on the Singer 2018. I also highly recommend that song because it will give you a better feel for his talent. "Child" starts very low and slow and for that reason many listeners do not appreciate the complexity of the song. It is perhaps his most challenging song that he sang on the Singer and he delivered it to perfection. Literally every note of that performance is perfect and you can see how he made choices in his delivery. It also contains (IMO) the most breathtakingly clear head voice (from a man) about a quarter of the way into the song. You will know what part I am referring to when you hear it because it will send chills down your spine. I almost forgot, "Equal to Heaven" is one of Hua Chenyu's own creations and he wrote it for a very popular movie in China. I have seen the music video for this song and the music video uses scenes from the movie. It appears to be sort of a sci/fi fantasy movie wrapped in traditional Chinese undertones. If you watch the music video you will get a better understanding of why the rap sections are there.
