Justin, as filipino I'm not quite sure how filipinos have fantastic, captivating vocalists.....I have a brother thats a member of a world renowned filipino choir, Ive known some famous vocalists from the 80s and 90s and Ive been around karaoke singing...meaning, I didnt have to go to karaoke bars because karaoke singing is prevalent in my neighborhood.....all I can say is that filipinos can easily connect emotionally with songs which I'd say is very uncanny....you just cant simply say it's with the genes that you're born with it but having a multitude in a race having such talent is hard to grasp.....it is easier to believe that most happen to have passion with music and it would take you effort to craft yourself by keep doing practice, practice, practice.
True. Everybody loves singing and it’s part of the culture here. Every house has a videoke. It’s the best family and friends favorite past time and is always present in any occasion. Karaoke is everywhere.😍
Justin, bro! Gotta say it. Your reactions are the most enjoyable of all reaction channels! Genuine, passionate and from a place of deep knowledge! I live in the Philippines as an expat. The kids pick up karaoke mics before they can walk! And they listen to a ton of music! ❤
The thing with Darrell is that his voice has an old school love music sound to it like back in the 80's and the 90's and the words that he sings, they are just so crisp and its crystal clear. Team that up with a voice that anyone who listens, can tell its a male voice that isnt too high but yet too low either. This, in my opinion, is the perfect blend and the recipe to being the best male singer in the Phillipines today, here on UA-cam.
Justin, a filipina singer once said, that's why they are so good in singing, is because it is the only way they can help their family improve their lives. There are tons of singing contests all over the Philippines, in big cities, and small villages. Competition is tough, you really have to give your all to stand out and win, plus every home in the Philippines have karaoke machines. It all starts when the baby is inside the mother's womb, their mom belting out these phenomenal songs like Whitney and Celine, the baby feeling the music vibrations, and the moment they get hold of a microphone, they start belting it out like their mom. They are vocal athletes in a tough competition to win the gold. Also, lots of TV contests, and when they win, they become celebrities, and becomes a rug to riches story. Inspirational. Lastly, genetics, one the greatest gift God gave to Filipinos because they are so devout to Him.
Filipinos live in a perpetual musical stage We are the embodiment of an animated Disney movie (there is bound to be a scene when people sing) We like to listen to songs or sing when we do stuff We sing lullaby to our kids more than read them stories We sing when we cook, when we wash the dishes, when we do laundry We even sing when we're stuck in a traffic jam (Some of our public buses has videoke/karaoke installed in them) and if we can't sing, we listen to music sometimes we even dance to what we sing or listen to even in public We rarely chide someone who is out of tune, we just tell them, practice more In the Philippines singing is like a kid's game of dodgeball that turns into an extreme sport when you become an adult it just grows with you And that is how you cultivate the greatest of singers, this world has known (or not at all)
Filipino culture has a deep connection to music and performance. At each family gathering, kids especially are encouraged to sing, dance, play a musical instrument to entertain parents and elders. The karaoke machine is invented by a Filipino (no surprise there).
Justin, just normal in the Philippines, we used to hear like that everyday on Television shows live performances, specially at TAWAG NG TANGHALAN ON SHOWTIME, every Mondays to Saturdays and ASAP every Sundays, Powerhouse singers and belters on Television for free viewing. Thanks and God bless
Most of us owned a videoke. Its actually common every celebration. From there we build our confidence to sing. Practice makes perfect. And its fun, to sing with your family and friends.
This is how the classic songs are immortalized and never gets old in the Philippines as great covers are produced in the country played in the radio/YT/spotify/karaokes kids pick them up learn them. We never get tired listening to these great songs and learning them becomes a cycle forever becoming part of the culture
Justin, I love to see falling in love listening to the voices. Your passion to the art of perfect sound. You look so sweet and delightful to watch also listen to. I felt the same when they were singing.
Thank you, Justin , for your support to our Filipinos singers. You are also gorgeous with a voice to die for. Have you thought of going there and perhaps maybe do a collab with your Filipino singers? We love you and your support
I lived for a long time outside the Philippines and a friend of mine once said that it baffles him how me and other filipino colleagues just burst out singing. Or humming a melody. All that to say, music is ingrained in us. In as much as we speak, we sing.
We have hundreds of dialects. I think it is the intonation in our languages that makes the tonality when singing in English easy for some Filipinos. Also we are exposed to English songs on radios which plays in every household in the background all day long, stores, businesses, malls, passengers bus, jeepneys, etc.
Karaoke is like a national sport in the Philippines. I'm from the Philippines and I grew up hearing karaoke all the time. While not all Filipinos are good singers, we sing our heart out and we try to be better at it every single time. There are so many great talent in the Philippines. That's for sure. ❤
Justin, I could say that music( specially karaoke singing) is stress reliever, it erases boredom, homesickness is lessened. l could say that I survived living here in the US. because of music. I play the piano, invite Filipino friends to sing karaoke ( sorry to say very few Americans wants to do it). Base on experience Americans are shy and are not passionate for music. I am not a good singer but I have the guts to do it. Now I am retired and finding ways to pass the time, the more I am inclined to music. More power to you and Thanks for appreciating Filipino talents. Your fan from Chicago Illinois 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Pilipino singers can play vocal voice by blending definitely different thinking to express what the hearts of a singer thanks dudes love it nice content it's me again from ILOILO city 🇵🇭🤞🇵🇭
Hi Justin, thanks for your content. I’m not a singer myself but what I know of Filipinos is that we grow up hearing ballads from powerhouses and learn to love the songs, which ties into karaoke. That doesn’t mean much but a lot get inspired to sing daily and train their voices, and mind you not professionally but having an ear for it. Could also be the bottled water in the Philippines 😊😅
To us Filipino's it's just normal way, what made me so happy is your reaction to the Philippines, how you love the way Filipino's sing and giving justice to all the song that we sing
We appreciate you and sharing your professional feedback. As a Filipino American decent I can tell you Filipino singers started as great vocal imitators and evolved into talented musicians /artist. It also helps the band and musicians are also just as talented. They can arrange a song like no other. Keep up the great work you are doing. Bless you and continued success to you channel.
Thanks for loving and praising the Filipino's gift of amazing voice. Truly, this gift comes from God ,and very few of us do not possess it. Videos like this could bring to the international stage our hone-grown talents. Praise be to God for giving you to us❤️💐
Noice analysis. Didn't realize all these vocal elements and techniques that were being deployed had names. Singing is truly an epic art just like painting, sculpting, etc and I always learn something from your analysis. Thanks Justin! One last request, can you react to Oyus - One Last Cry next?
IT'S THE COCKTAIL OF GENES IN FILIPINOS' BLOOD. THEY HAVE THE SPANISH FIERY SENSUALITY, THE CHINESE ELEMENT OF SURPRISES, THE MALAY COMMUNAL FRIENDLINESS AND A BIT OF INDIAN FESTIVE MOODS. ALL THESE ASPECTS ARE REFLECTED IN THEIR VOCALS.
the fact is that the way they deliovered the song was amazing ... probabvly better than the original one ...(in my opinion) BRAVO to Daryl Ong and Gigi De Lana
They also sang I FINALLY FOUND SOMEONE. Justin, ive been trying to request this performance of Gigi at a recent concert (her best yet), but YT bot keeps on deleting my comments. Ill write more below, lets see if it will show up....
I'm not gonna type the title but its the song from The Greatest Showman (initials are N.E.). Pls don't use the fancams, clear vid is on channel called YNO GARCI A
Filipinos are naturally emotional..we put all that feelings in a songs...and started in a very young age..I can't sing the way they do ..ha ha ha..so many singers..we have hararaba telling man intentions through songs outside the window to a woman ...
I recently came across Mark Michael Garcia (MMG),a Filipino singing talent that needs to be reacted by you as well. Mark's duet with Daryl Ong of James Ingram's songs would be a good introduction to be blown away by his talent (no disrespect to Daryl, we all know he's dope). ...LOL
It's because Filipinos love to sing. It doesnt matter whether you are good or not, we sing. Yes, there are shy ones, some out of tune but singing is such a part of society that most do not mind or feel as vulnerable because singing is viewed positively. Good singers get to practice a lot, kids learn early, even gets competitive or maybe even genetics passed down from a singing and generally jolly culture. I hope other places get to experience and share the joy we feel especially singing with others (be it family, friends or even strangers)
Because, once they woke up in the morning they switch on the radio and that would be all day long , unless if they’re out of the house radio is off. You should visit Philippines and be a hearthrob Justin.
Filipinos are good singers...it comes from being family oriented where everyone supports one another and most are poor so music serves as an inspiration for them to come out of poverty..and for their pain, adversities that come out of their emotions fr their heart when singing.
yah ... i don't know why we love classic music especially ballad music ...we just love to sing and have fun on karaoke since birth our moms keeps singing to us maybe we are immune to music hehehe even some can't sing we are not ashamed to showcase our voices 😆✌
Singing and dancing is embedded in our culture. We have different dances and songs that represent the day to day events in our lives, like the planting and harvest of crops. Also, we have the celebration of fiestas all year round. But most of all, Filipino babies get to soak in the sound of lullabies. We love to put our babies to sleep with a song. ❤
@Justin Burke- It's because Filipinos have an innate PASSION and SPIRIT to connect to music. It's part of their culture! Hence, the reason they can easily be on pitch without having so much practice. Say if one happens to be at random place with a mic they can just easily pick it up and sing without anyone being phased - its just part of normalcy. Not only you'll notice many karaoke machines in households or on the streets, but there are many acoustic guy/girl combo on the acoustic guitar singing at almost every other local eatery (small restaurants) places too. You'll just have to visit and experience it your self along with enjoying the food! ;) 👊🌴😎🎤
many Filipinos start singing as young as 3 or 4 yrs. old n sadly aren't able to do it in the world stage.... except in the American Idol contest not only in the US but also in Europe n Australia
It’s part of the Filipino culture, singing, listening to music so I think Filipinos who have good voices discover they have talent at a very young age and hones it. Lots of singing competition, karaoke is very common too. I think a big part is the exposure to American culture- Filipinos look up to the west (Americans).
as a filipina, all I can answered you it's because we are a loving country, we sing from the heart 😊
It was simply because music is our life our passion .Its in our blood our soul .. happy or sad moments MUSIC AND FILIPINOS are really true frends❤
True. Everybody loves singing and it’s part of the culture here. Every house has a videoke. It’s the best family and friends favorite past time and is always present in any occasion. Karaoke is everywhere.😍

I live in the Philippines as an expat. The kids pick up karaoke mics before they can walk! And they listen to a ton of music! ❤
Facts haha
Exactly
I know you also noticed most of the songs are the classic ones hahaha so old westen music never die in our country
@@SatiricalCircus yes, love it!
Yes agree 👍
I love watching your reaction, Justin. You truly are amazed.
We love classic music...
It's our training ground in singing.

Let me heart it ,, the training ground u talking about
The soul of the song made me cry❤❤❤its so good and so full of soul and emotions❤❤❤❤

You nailed it!
Filipinos live in a perpetual musical stage
We are the embodiment of an animated Disney movie (there is bound to be a scene when people sing)
We like to listen to songs or sing when we do stuff
We sing lullaby to our kids more than read them stories
We sing when we cook, when we wash the dishes, when we do laundry
We even sing when we're stuck in a traffic jam
(Some of our public buses has videoke/karaoke installed in them)
and if we can't sing, we listen to music
sometimes we even dance to what we sing or listen to
even in public
We rarely chide someone who is out of tune, we just tell them, practice more
In the Philippines singing is like a kid's game of dodgeball that turns into an extreme sport when you become an adult
it just grows with you
And that is how you cultivate the greatest of singers, this world has known (or not at all)
This is scenario is very true with me too until I moved to another country, sadly.

Filipino culture has a deep connection to music and performance. At each family gathering, kids especially are encouraged to sing, dance, play a musical instrument to entertain parents and elders. The karaoke machine is invented by a Filipino (no surprise there).

Its in the genes that's why Phils have so many world champions in singing from solo, to choir to kids to adults.😊
Filipino singers sing with emotions. We sing from our hearts. Thats the secret recipe.
Thank you so much justin❤

It's like I heard a Tesla music that heals loneliness, broken hearts & empitiness!!
