trained with him in the mid 90s one of the best schools in the area, truly the one of the best at the time, 3% body fat. Looks like he still has it.

    Smooth is fast...fast is smooth...I
I’d like to see the that at real combat speed though. Mistakes and everything

It can only be done thru sparring. We should always know the difference between a demo/actual lesson and what is fighting. This video clearly emphasize a demo/lesson.

You can't see it in real cause it'll be so quick opponents are slashed dead in seconds for 2 or 3 strikes.

The montra is slow is smooth smooth is fast. It's to remind warriors (shooters) to move smooth is more important than moving at speed. Focusing on speed causes imbalance and can lead to a fall this is deadly in combat. Smooth implication of shooting principles ensures stable firing and forward motion. You will get to the objective with a smooth movement faster than if you attempt fast movements.
This was started to offset the panic and feeling of rushing warriors tend to feel in a fire fight.
Translating it to this. Practice techniques slowly, focusing on the smoothness of the technique. This builds muscle memory, in a test then attempt at "combat speed" the smoothness of your motion will cary forward into speed.
Most people on here are correct this is a demo lesson or at least part of one. The real things one should be learning is the simple individualized blocks strikes and manipulations. The building blocks of these demos.
Did some cqc cqb training in my time. Shit dont look this pretty when you fight. But just like the prone kneeling and standing shooting positions they translate over well to give a base that can be adapted.

I'm sick of this show-off. I don't even want to comment on or take apart this useless technique.
Suffice it to say that there is a complete lack of causality and the opponent is taken for a complete moron. For one movement of the opponent the "instructor" makes three - this never happens in life
