- Some FAQs have been added to ABSNM webpage and some explanations have been expanded. The FAQs will continue to evolve as additional clarifications are needed as a result of questions from applicants. Applicants can always contact Dr. Greg Beavers (Executive Director) with questions.
- Now, candidates with foreign credentials can pick from a wide variety credential evaluation organizations - it does not have to be WES.

- The ABSNM now only offers two specialty exams for certification:
Nuclear Medicine Physics and Instrumentation
Radiation Protection
- Also the pass rate statistics are now posted on the ABSNM web site. Hopefully this will be helpful for applicants:

Thanks. It is entirely possible for a person to take this exam with a masters degree (and not PhD). Specific requirements are here: www.absnm.org/examinations-and-certification.html
Details depend on which of the 3 specialty exams you are taking, so look carefully in the link above at how much practical training and/or supervised experience you will need (pay attention to 'and' / 'or' statements).

Thank you. Since I was not trained "under the supervision of a medical physicist who is certified in medical physics", I went with the option you mention; i.e. having experience "in clinical nuclear medicine facilities providing diagnostic and/or therapeutic services under the direction of physicians who meet the requirements for authorized users in 10CFR35.290 and 10CFR35.390, and who will provide a letter of reference attesting to the candidate’s experience and competency." I picked our nuclear medicine division director for this, and asked him to support me, which he did, and I drafted a letter by him making the exact needed statements, and it was just fine.
