    *No man can have everything he wants. If this land could be bent to my will, then it would not be worth fighting for. No, this land is shaped by the conflicting ambitions of many great men. Therein lies its beauty. If I die here and if you fall, will all be lost? No. In every act lies its own purpose and meaning. Feel it. The world is moving again. But it is no longer mine. Mitsuhide, I forgive you.*

    Who's here after watching SW5 ending?
    I dunno, i love SW4's Nobunaga's final scene much more. He just looks so awesome, so unvawering. He's like... he's ABOVE everything. Mitsuhide betrayed him and set his castle at fire, yet Nobunaga feels no fear nor sadness. He's like "It was a fun game, and you won. Goodbye" and then just wanishes in the fire... It makes him look so awesome and badass...
    SW5 ending makes him look... well... like a dramatic hero, who accepts his death... While SW4's Nobunaga's final scene makes him look like a God who descended to play with mortals, and once his time here is over, he just gives a thumbs up and logs out, like Terminator in T2. I prefer Gods over normal humans, so... yeah.

    • @DarkAdonisVyers
      @DarkAdonisVyers 10 років тому +5

      Well, you could say the same about Cao Cao or Vlad III. Also, does this game "branch" like DW8, or is it just depressingly streamlined, like DW7?

    • @9pmInTokyo
      @9pmInTokyo 10 років тому +3

      DarkAdonisVyers I haven't played it yet but from the walkthroughs, this one doesn't have hypothetical routes like DW8. Instead, there is a story for each major clan (some having 8 missions and some having 3-4). Then there are two major ones which is the end of the Sengoku period I believe and another for the battle between Tokugawa and Mitsunari.

      I think he did.
      But what he did not expect was for Mitsuhide to take such drastic yet foolish measure so soon, when only "half, not all," of Japan were his.
      I mean: the reason why he kept Mitsuhide relatively closer all the time while he let the likes of Hideyoshi (who were even more clear had ambition beyond servantship) kept an active army and an active house all the time was probably bcs Mitsuhide can see as far as Hideyoshi can yet, unlike Hideyoshi, the Akechi had a nobility background and a powerful house history and lots of family lines with the other factions. The Oda were originally just a countryside noblemen family, too, thus if one day the Akechi betrays them, there's no assurance that the Oda would survive in power. Thus he needed to make sure Mitsuhide's de facto power were limited.
      But, at the same time, he knew the man was very talented and it would be a waste not using his talent, so ofc the right move was to keep him as seemingly-very-trusted retainer, giving him space to achieve glory and fame while putting an invincible chain on him.
      The more right question should be: what would have happened if only the Akechi had taken more of their time?
      The one who waits for the best moment to deal the most significant damage wins, as Ieyasu had proven within his life.

    Huh, it's sorta coincidental that Nobunaga walked into the flames and "vanished" similar to Wu's hypothetical ending in DW8 where Cao Cao also did the same in a nearly identical manner

    • @wafflerofl891

      They were both very similar in methodology. They defied the norms of their respective eras and hired people of merit and skill, regardless of rank. They were also known to be quite ruthless, leading to their officers coming to fear or lose their faith in them.

    • @Quackily
      @Quackily 5 років тому +6

      Because Nobunaga's corpse wasn't found in Honnoji, so we don't know if he actually died there or not, that's why Koei made it so that Nobunaga vanished into the flames for more "mysterious".

    To me this showes that Mitsuhide was weak and incapable of taking control of japan. He already Oda's son, wife, and retainers and yet whens he's on the ferge of finishing the job he just suddenly regrets it all and then stops? Mitsuhide exactly what was the point of this betryal?

    • @DarkAdonisVyers

      SilentAssassin927 Yeah, remorse is overrated, huh?

    • @Headchrusherdeth
      @Headchrusherdeth 9 років тому +23

      SilentAssassin927 Usually, in SW incarnations the reason behind Mitsuhide's betrayal is because he thinks Nobunaga has gone too far, not only mistreating Mitsuhide himself at some points, but also being too cruel against his enemies and even friends alike. But through the battle at Honnoji he sees Nobunaga's point, the point he failed to see before. That's what hesitates him, and that's also what drives him try to rule Japan afterwards. That's usually the SW take anyway, i like it.

    • @SilentAssassin927
      @SilentAssassin927 9 років тому +7

      It makes sense. At least this version of him is better than his Sengoku Basara counterpart.

    • @Headchrusherdeth
      @Headchrusherdeth 9 років тому +5

      SilentAssassin927 Oh yea, i agree his SB counterpart is more shallow compared to this, but you know. It's because the historical reason for Mitsuhide's rebellion is unknown, there are speculations but no actual facts. Mitsuhide is still my favorite character in the franchaise but, really they should have done at least a gaiden stage to show what he was trying to do, and, that's another thing about SW4 that bothers me, there are no takes on what if scenerios, even in Legend of Kinki Nagamasa dies, i hope they did those what if scenerios in 4-II, because they were lovely back in SW2, regardless this game is amazing, too bad nobody is online.

    I didn't know in real life history that akechi betrayed him and killed him.
    I hope to enjoy this seeing as how playing Dynasty Warriors (even the Legends or 9 whatever it's called has bored me with how advanced the system is from its roots)
