Got an A7Siii when it first came out and then upgraded to an FX3 and really found out I only loved it because it looked cooler and and felt it gave off a professional vibe. The A7Siii is really the move for anybody trying to choose.
If your motivation to spend $400 more was that the FX-3 looked cooler, more power to you. I make my purchasing decisions based on how this investment will better serve me and enable me to make more money. I bought the FX-3 over the A7SIII because for my professional workflow (corporate video) I MUST have professional XLR audio inputs. I have to back up my audio using both XLR inputs and a wireless mic input using the 3.5 mm jack. The A7SIII would fall short of my needs as a useful tool for my professional workflow unless I upgraded to the K3M-XLR adapter that would cost me an additional $600 ($200 more than the FX-3 with the included audio). I can always remove the audio input for gimbal work/b-roll or use my B-Cam (A7IV).
I love my sony a7siii, I was a little jealous with the menu on the fx3 on the recent firmware update. But I probably won't sell and buy the fx3. It's my first camera where I am extremely happy with the results of the camera, my first camera was a Canon T6i rebel all throughout high-school and college. Now I am actually proud to show off my videos bc of the quality and the clarity
Great video I love ur content bro. In my case Fx3’s menu its a breaking point for me. I used to have s3 but now I can’t go back. Both cameras are great but now the fx3 makes my work flow faster.
FX3 is 4699 in germany and the sony a7siii is 4200 euro in germany. I bought mine as a grey import for 3200 euro. Honestly all western customers get really ripped of from sony. I still love my sony a7siii it ist the best investment i did in years
Terry, I’m asking you because you are a any user. I got an FX30 and went to town setting up my settings and storing them into memory 1, 2 and 3. HOW am I supposed to white balance off a grey/white card when I am using my saved settings? What do you do?
Using the dials memory setting ( 1, 2, or 3) only LOADS the settings you have saved. You can modify your white balance, ISO, aperture, etc to your hearts content. But keep in mind once you turn your dial away from the memory and then back it will revert to what you initially saved.
It depends on what you do. Everyone’s needs are different. If you are a hybrid shooter that flies your camera on a gimbal and take photos and video, then yes get the A7SIII. As a filmmaker that shoots corporate content, I need the professional XLR inputs. If you buy the A7SIII and need professional audio you pay 30 percent more for the Sony XLR K3M module is $598. That’s $200 more for professional audio on the A7SIII. I understand what your trying to do Terry…but everyone’s needs are different. The A7SIII is an excellent camera but it’s not designed with professional audio in mind.
@@HuwRees I would be absolutely terrified to even attempt that. Charging a client several thousand dollars and then getting back to the editing table with poor/clipped/missing audio? How do you explain that to a client? The first thing you learn in the corporate video(“talking heads”) niche is audio is more important than video. You can always use B-Roll to cover camera shack, poor focus, etc. but once the audio is compromised, you will be in trouble and could ruin your reputation and chances at more business.. Redundancy is key. I run one channel of XLR setting the levels manually into the camera. I run a second channel of XLR setting the levels to auto into the camera. For my third audio source, I run a Lav mic into my e2 bit float zoom field recorder to recover audio no matter if it’s clipped or too low. That gives me three audio sources to ensure that I capture clean, useable audio and deliver quality content as a professional.
Wait, you can custom assign the exposure wheel on the s3? I though that was just the a74? I just sent my s3 in as I hurt the sensor on it and probably needs to be replaced, otherwise I’d check myself.

Imagine if the a7siii came out after the fx3? Omg a EVF I want it!
Thank God. The best review I've seen so far. Iv'e been said the Sony A 7 s 3 over the Fx3.

Thank you for the video, it was very helpful and informative.
Love all your vids my man. Think you flipped the titles bro. Should be 5 reasons to pick the A7Siii I guess.
Fixed it!! Thank you!!
Great content like always my man!
Love the break down! I’m buying soon so this is helpful.
FX3 doesn't have an ND filter built in. Is a cinema camera if you look at the other cinema cameras they have it.

Wish I had the fx3
The A7SIII viewfinder is insane. It took one look through it to know I had made the right decision buying that camera.

I just think the fx3 is levels head in movie cinematic looks
My dream camera. Simply can't afford it though. Maybe get lumix S5 one day which is 85% of the way there.
“It’s like looking into a window into heaven” 😂😂👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I think that sold me...
😂😅😊🎉
What is it you set your exposure compensation dial to? Cool trick I didn't know that dial was customizable!

FX3 has a softer image closer to FX6 and A7S3 has an image closer to the Alpha series
Hi MrVh78. That's a thing I've heard here and there, but never saw any examples. Can you give us some sample footage links?
All I want is that global shutter man and true 24 🥲
