True! I remember seeing Rush and having never heard Olivia Wilde speak before, her British accent was so convincing I actually thought she was British. So I totally get you
It was my moms idea to watch this movie. I thought it was going to be boring. But the first few words into the movie caught my attention. At times I was like: "Mom...you wanted to see this?..."
I agree with you, a very faithful adaptation from book to movie. When I saw the opening scene when Nick strokes Amy's hair slowly that pretty much summed up the movie for me in a nutshell since I read the book.
JoefromNJ1 So true, she has that lower register in her voice, a massive vocabulary, & trained diction. Her quick mind was a gift of birth, her gentleness was the result of kind, but not indulgent parenting. Indulgent parenting gives us Honey Boo Boo.
Feels a bit weird that she looks at the audience so much, usually guests look at the host and eeeevery now and then at the audience, but she keeps looking at the audience and talking to them rather than mostly to Seth. I liked that.
It's an unconscious thing for a lot of people, at least for me. I usually very rarely look at the person I talk to, not because I don't want to but because I'm mentally focusing on what I say.
I actually LOVE that she looks at the audience a lot more than what we're used to. It acknowledges their presence and shows respect. I get sooo irritated when the guest focuses solely on the host, as if no one else mattered. But it's also true that UK talk shows are more interactive (check out Graham Norton) so maybe she is just used to doing it the British way.
She was masterful in Gone Girl. The film might not have been everybody's cup of tea, BUT she played the part of the psychopathic wife incredibly well! Very beautiful, talented actress!
The movie is fantastic... and Rosamund Pike, you are a queen!!! She was pitch-perfect of the two versions of Amy, the first half of Amy from her diary and then the “real” Amy. Her presence on screen is breathtaking. I don't recall watching a villain this delicious on screen since Hannibal Lecter...She absolutely dominates the film! She totally deserves a Oscar nomination for her incredibly performance!
Am I the only one that remembers watching Die Another Day in the theaters and walking out with Rosamund Pike being the most memorable thing of that whole film?
haha i honestly dont remember the plotline for that film just how beautiful, seductive yet sinister Rosamund Pike was in it and how I expected to see her in a lot of films after that breakout role
I agree about "An Education." Rosamund was that one actress that got my attention with a "hey, there's that actress again who is so beautiful, sexy and stunning, you can't take your eyes off her." She was also the one who really stood out for me in this Bruce Willis film called "Surrogates." Go see it for Rosamund alone. I love this woman. And if since she didn't win the Oscar this year (Julianne Moore was a shoo-in, and rightfully so), just imagine what she'll bring to her next role.
she deserves to win Oscars for this movie.. that scene Ben Affleck was talking on the daily show and she was obsessively watching him was one of her best acts in the movie.
@@aquablushgirl If i have one dimensional view of the world by just hating a psychopath who eventually gets away then i'm 100% in it. You in the opposite, like her which tells me a lot to justify my comment and i don't need to continue this
I agree! Because they have to learn how to. Americans don't have to learn how to play Americans so they almost get complacent sometimes (in my opinion)
Every time I see her first thought is always she's the most beautiful woman I've ever seen since Grace Kelly (& my Mom's on that list, too...she was movie-star beautiful in that vein, w/blonde hair, blue eyes & won a little miss pageant - her cousin had entered her! 💚💚 I don't think I saw the movie, but oh..no, not Nicole Kidman, not when there's Rosamund! 😃
After seeing Rosamund Pike in the James Bond film "Die Another Day" opposite Pierce Brosnan in 2002, I thought that she was stunning and classy, and I couldn't fathom why the Studios didn't cast her as the lead in another major production. Now, more than twelve years later, she has been cast in a pivotal role in "Gone Girl" and Pike was nominated for a Best Actress Oscar.Hopefully, this will be the beginning of better roles to come.
That movie could have ended three or four different times and I would have said, "that was a damn good movie"... but then it bent and twisted... best movie I've seen in five years....
What in the world are you talking about? It was honestly the worst and most unsatisfying ending in all of cinematic history. Basically the end destroyed the whole movie. In a nutshell, *Great movie < Worst ending ever*
What a talented and gorgeous woman. Her performance in Gone Girl was astounding, I almost feel bad for Affleck who has about 1/10th the acting ability of Ms. Pike. She's just mesmerizing even if you don't enjoy the film which was good but had some issues. She deserves an Oscar and her range as an actress is beyond impressive, hopefully she will get the good roles now and we will see her far more on the big screen. Truthfully while the story was engaging, I felt that only the female cop and the sister also had strong performances. Affleck is not a good actor and neither is Tyler Perry. Neil Patrick Harris was also miscast. Rosamund Pike is the reason to see this film, amazing job.
Yes and yes to all you said. Of course she's better actor than Ben, although he's very smart not only good looking. But in Hollyweird you need a good PR game to become famous talent alone won't cut it. Plus Rosamund is classy, smart, talented, is not starving for fame with a cultural and classic arts British upbringing. So she won't be playing cheap tricks to get attention.
Tripti Thakur oh come on... i always read miscast when it comes to harris in Gone Girl. bullshit, i dont get it at all. pitt, or craig... are just too big, in every sense of the word. also, they dont have that slight creepiness that harris has. and the role needed that, above all. the character is a non-threatening looking fucking weirdo. and on the other hand: brad pitt simply has too much natural starpower, he would have practically overshadowed that role. too fucking big. or what would you say if all of a sudden 007 turns up at the end... this is the reason why i think you're all wrong on that. or you simply hate harris, then, i cant help you anyway. peace out.
ok, you found him unconvincing, i thought he did fit. .. and by the way, no, i'm not a particular harris fan and i dont watch HIMYM, so, you guessed wrong. just want to clarify that. peace out from austria.
This woman is superb in Gone Girl. The Academy should be ashamed for not awarding this woman the Best Actress award because no one can match her performance in this movie.

What the f? This interviewer seems to say very inappropriate things. Also, imagine how scary would that be for the actress, having to be alone with four men in order to shoot a sex scene for 2 hours?
I lost it when she said "With a man who's not your husband... who's also got a husband." XD
