You look great, Jill, if a little tired. Doing even this short vlog is quite an accomplishment 2 weeks post-partum, thank you for putting in this effort. And give Ziggy an extra kiss and hug from all of your subscribers.
I tried a fall garden last year and was very discouraged because nothing lived. Everything died . Tried broccoli, cauliflower and snow peas nothing grew. Plant came up and died. So I felt like I wasted my time. You look great Jill after your sweet boy is here. Only 2 weeks and you are already posting. Thank you for all you do.
I have never grown a fall garden, because this is my first year with a garden at all and it is super small (currently 1 6ft X 3ft raised bed). I am excited to expand my garden in the years to come and grow a bigger variety of crops.
Jillie Girl, youre ALWAYS a SUPER MOMMY!!! Thank you for this Fall garden suggestion vid. Give Little Man Ziggy, and the Big Sisters, all big hugs from Grandma Suzu in Missouri!! Sending Love, Hugs, Prayers!! 🥰🤗🙏🙏
I am contemplating starting a fall garden this year. I haven't in the past because I'm so busy with the summer garden and preservation I don't make time for planting fall crops. I might just throw some seeds in the dirt and see what happens 😉 Thank you for your education and motivation not only in gardening but every aspect of life; motherhood, sourdough, healthy/clean living, family and business. You are an inspiration! 💖
❤ Yes, get the carrots in and bought new seed to start more once the tomatoes/zucchini are done in some beds. I started a second round of parsley in greenstalk pockets that were empty, beans in a pot the puppy attacked and some peas. 😊
You look great girl!!! Hope Ziggy is doing well. I'm prepping my beds for the fall winter planting. In about two weeks, I'll be harvesting my Georgia Jet sweet potatoes. This morning, I started pulling tomato plants due to heat damage, and to make room for planting. I've already planted a bed of red beets, and asian greens. I'm going to plant more beets, various varieties of spinach, and broccoli (based on your suggestion).
This is the first year that I’m growing a fall garden. I’m planting garlic, onions, carrots, parsnips, celery, and lettuce. I live in north east Missouri.
I had probably the worst summer garden ever…I am praying my fall will at least produce a veggie or two or three! Heat hit fast and hard, first time in two years I planted (I am 73 this month) short story had to rebuild beds took me forever..very excited to plant had beautiful plants near zero fruits of my labor 😩 zero zucchini, two butternut with a third came in late, nearly 20 cherry tomatoes, 3 varieties! Tomatoes about 6 survivors from 6 plants 😔 I am still praying over bell peppers….thank you for your happy positive encouragement! Oh yes, no pests either! Just pretty plants…..
I have never had a fall garden. I tried last year with a bunch of brassicas but started them in pots outside and the cabbage moths decimated them. We ended up moving that fall anyway, so I wouldn't have been able to harvest. This year I plan to try again, but we've moved to a short growing season. Zone 5a and first frost is end of September. I'm sure I'm behind starting fall crops indoors! I also don't have much space in the garden because I got a late start to my summer garden and haven't even harvested anything yet. My spring cabbage is JUST ready to harvest the first head! I do have some small starts my sister gave me, but can't plant until I i harvest my potatoes and onions.
I planted Kale at the beginning of May, and I am still harvesting it. It lived through Spring rains, moths and their babies in the summer and I'm quite sure that if I covered it, it would live well into Winter. I'm putting it into my greenhouse, so I'm looking for good results with Kale.
That’s great, you’ll love how organized it will make everything. Cultivating just means keeping your beds clean of weeds and grasses that will absorb any water/nutrients that your plants need.
I live in South Alabama close to the Florida line. It won't get cooler here until November. Can I plant those cool weather crops now when it's 100° outside if I don't have a high tunnel or shade cloth?
What can I plant with sunflowers that are almost dome. Should I just cut down? I know from my experience that they stunted my Tomatoes/Peppers. Lettuce, squash, carrots, radish, cukes?

I highly recommend growing in GreenStalks with their frost covers. You’ll have mini greenhouses.

Thanks! A struggle is knowing when/if cover is needed and how in a small simple garden. We live in SE Arkansas

Awesome content as usual and SUPER HUGZ to Ziggy! Question: Are you using your own seeds for your fall plantings?
You look great. Super mom. ❤
Oh thank you!

LOVE TO KNOW WHICH VARIETIES U ENJOY FOR FALL GARDEN.
Jill I have just signed up for free Seedtime and looks like it will be great, what does cultivating mean, is that weeding around the plant?

Sweet Jill and family ❤. Hello from Cabot your sweet girls are beautiful. Atwoods hello.
While Jill talks a big game, Nate is the real succession planting master here. Making sure he has cheap labour for at least the next twenty years.
Do you soak yr spinach? I've had issue that they spout. How do u do that?
