This is great, thank you. Many of the best dog trainers in the positive reinforcement community teach the exact same lesson. Provided the dog also gets plenty of physical and mental stimulation and togetherness, a tethered settle can teach a dog to have some boundaries and an off switch. Self-regulation is key and it can reduce restlessness and FOMO anxiety once they learn it.
Teaching my dog “BED” (no exceptions or comprise) has been the best investment over 10 years +. Anytime I go round someones who has a dog with no impulse control I be on edge. Just dont tether a reactive dog to a radiator 😂

A good exercise in impulse control. We do the same thing with horses.

I wish this was my problem. Mine is just the opposite, she prefers to be on her own where she can do as she pleases.
That's actually the way this breed is built....smh
❤❤❤❤❤
I've never in my life had to do something like this. Try taking your dog for a couple of long walks everyday, or better still don't have a dog.
different needs for everyone, I agree this practice should be a part of a greater relationship with dogs
I can see your poor dogs hip and rib bone. Maybe your dog is begging you for food and water.
