I went out there in 1972 with 3 horses for my Dad, and spent about 6 weeks. It was the greatest place to race ever for harness racing. I had the best time.
great, worthy tribute to the only track at which I've won more than lost (live and via simulcast) - to the sport and all the people involved, and especially to the Thoroughbred horse. Thanks for posting!
I saw Affirmed win the 1979 Gold Cup Pincay up.I still have my Gold Cup button. What great memories at the track of the Lakes and Flowers.Harry Henson what a great race caller.Bob Baedecker,Profesor ,Gordon Jones and Jerry Anronucii.Horse and Jockey with Jay Richards a Powerful Source for Winners with race calls after the races on the Mighty 1090 radio station Baja California. The pick six started at HP in 1980.Caliente race track in Mexico had the 5/10.So many great memories
Great job, Vic on my favorite place in the world . . . Hollywood Park. To this day, I still shed a tear when i watch these nostalgic videos on the Grand Old Lady. Markinsac.
WoW P.M! Where do you get these amazing videos?? Wonderful video! Thx for the upload! Had blast watching over an hours worth of racing history! Real shame such an iconic track was demolished..
Hollywood Park--under Marj Everett's management---put out the best product in California racing...those 1970's and 1980's were second to none, in the sport.
Bug boys back in the day sure knew how to ride their horses better. Did you see Swaps winning The Gold Cup at 19:57? His jockey showed him the stick several times, but never even once touched him.
PM you done it again! Thx for upload! Incredible video! where u find these awesome videos?? Real shame that such an iconic track had to be demolished..
Yes, HP, such memories. Followed a racehorse on the 405 and every time we all went around a curve, he neighed, where I left my friend's wedding reception to see The Bid's last race in Calif, (sorry DC), where I had my very first encounter with a nasty Secretariat fan and finally last but not least, my mother and I submitted some great names for their infield board naming, but lost to some stupid name that had a lot of entries. Stupid way to pick a name. Yes, memories.

52:18 52:22 & 52:24 the 3 main horses in the 1st ever breeders cup classic
Hollywood park means swaps and shoemaker to me.
Hollywood Park Harry HENSON Shoemaker Pincay Lambert Pierce
Eddie D and Toro on the grass
That's not Alan Ladd at 8:00, it's Randolph Scott!
38:32 that's Bethenny Frankel's dad.
All demolished history thanks to the NFL and other tracks such as Santa Anita.
Why Santa Anita?
Byu
I am sorry but Laffit in my opinion was not as good as Bill, Laffit destroyed many a horse including Sham, denying Sham a place in the history books.
How did he destroy them?
