Great video, my son and I are working on a similar project. I wish I had watched your video first but now I know an easier way of doing it. Once again, great video.

Nice job Ian
Nice talking with you the other day Ian, great video I will keep up with all your latest ones.
Aaron
The steel gets very hot in the Prozess you should keep it cool
That looks like a nice knife. The cross guard and the handle seemed very loose fitting before gluing together but I'm guessing it's all nice and solid now. When Iv'e watched smiths make the cross guard for a sword they always seem to make it really tight fitting. If the knife is all solid with no movement then great. I would be proud to have made a knife like that one.
You are great. Good video. Thank you for showing.
nice knife ! good grinding stuff like guards is such a pain, right :)
ian's forge I meant that it heats up so fast when grinding
I had heard that lawnmower blades were low in carbon and somewhat soft. Did this one harden?
yes. i always like to do some hardening tests on a little bit of the material.
Hello, a beautiful peace of art! Can someone please tell me what kind of wood was used?
@@iansforge thank you allot for your reply. Appreciate it allot 👍👍👍
what type of wood did you use for the stock (handle / grip)
I've got some off cuts of cedar, any thoughts on using it for a handle?
What tool did you use at 6:06?
thats a file or the yellow diamond file used in the draw file method
how is the edge holding up on this steel
heyy you got that steel right!
hey man , you should really use that forge instead of your blowtorch to do those heat treatments , it will heat the blade to a higher temperature , and it will heat it more evenly , u want this steel to be an orangy yellow before u dip it into your oil or water for heat treatment (sorry for the repetions) ;p
thank you for the comment. using the blow torch was a phase i went through lol. I'm using the forge again.
'basic tools'.... -has a production shop, great craftsmanship but basic tools means they all fit in your tool pouch
dont grind brass on bench grinder, clogs it up
Dressing tool cleans it up
how i can make san mai pattern knife?
Quenching makes it brittle
