I think that’s the most useful knife design ever. If it had a full tang with a flat butt it could be used for pounding on to drive knife through material to split wood and things. Saved and will use this later 👍👍
Now THATS a dang good looking blade. Great finish and blade design. Make an awesome camp kitchen knife. I’m betting it will hold an edge very very well. 👍👍
Complimenti bel coltello e ottimo lavoro
I always thought about making a knife from a old file. Watching your video, i am now going to make an attempt. I dont have all the proper sansers but i have a palm sander a dremmil and a multpurpurpius hand held has a sanding attachment. Thanks for the start to finish video because of your video i am going to attempt a build of the perfect survival knife. Yours not mine lol. Cheers ..
Done correctly, stick tang knives are very strong. Historically, most knives in most cultures around the world were/are made stick tangs. Even the powerful khukuri of Nepal and India is made with stick tangs. And they're designed for heavy chopping. There are full tang versions too but stick tang is more common and traditional. Stick tangs only started being a problem for the modern UA-cam survival/bushcraft/prepper scene when folks suddenly wanted to use their knives like axes and smash them through massive hardwood logs without breaking. 🙄 Yes, they are "weak" if you beat on it like a Neanderthal all day long. If you need to process seriously large pieces of wood...bring an axe. Like we've done since Otzi. Or get a full tang monstrosity to beat on but it's only a matter of time before they'll eventually break too.
@simontilbey Depends on the style of fighting. Khukuris are designed to be blade heavy for the chop and cut. But a properly made one will still balance well in hand because of the distal taper.... something not often seen in American made knives
hoping to make my own soon, genuinely curious if you made a rat tail tang anyway, why not use the existing one on the file? just wondering if it's just design and function or some other reason. looks amazing.
Nice knife and all, but I really feel like you could have salvaged the tang by cutting it a little thinner and then using that longer tang to peen on the handle. Obviously just personal preference on my end, for some reason a lot of people seem to dislike the peened handles.
Would have been both better and stronger if it had a full tang and not just glue the handle on, surely will be the first thing to go bye bye. Love the blade design though and keeping the original file hatching on it just makes it more unique :)
Personally I don't like my survival knife to have full Tang, nor rat tail either, I prefer a totally covered three quarter tang. As sometimes in an emergency you have to pry something electrical open. Not ideal, but happens.
May i ask why you didn't incorporate the file tange into the desing, was it two thin? Your patern would have worked if you spun it around, i just basically drew it cut it out and put against similar file and it was more practical
So I have to know, how often did you accidentally hit your fingertips and nails with that wire wheel setup? Only asking because I used to do the same thing myself and would only notice the wheel grinding off nails when the heat built up and I would flinch from the pain. Eventually I wised up and began to wear gloves. Initially any gloves that I could find even knit ones and cloth until one day I was using an angle grinder for an extended period and stopped once I noticed my bench catch fire from the mixture of sawdust and hot metal filings. I then noticed that both the tops to my knit work gloves had melted down to bare skin and I had a huge melted slightly smoking hole in my hoodie too. I only wear leather ones now and check my clothing often.
For anyone hoping to make a knife from a file…. Be sure it’s not a case hardened file before you start. If it is case hardened, it is useless as a knife
WONDERFUL, I have no words, always super perfect and unique precise product, wonderful work and video, well done and good luck, respect from old BG. p.s. It is a great pleasure for me to see that there are such precise people in the world, and that of the White race!!!
Amazing job well done but I can't understand why you would cut the tang of at one end just to make another one at the other end mmmm but a good job on the nife
No anvil or hitting something just and old rusty file that’s a pretty cool way to get into a hobby
What a beautiful piece..! a VERY good knifesmith....!!!

Its a knife, not a prybar, chisel, or hammar.
That’s a beautiful knife, man. How fortunate you are to have your talent!

Beautiful
Really nice 👌
Why not keep the tang as large as possible? Seems like that would be the weakest point.

Show cara é um artista
Amazing
Awesome!! 👏👏👏👏👏
Just seen this video can't understand why you did the tang like that it's the same as the handle part why not use that instead?????
"Arquivo antigo???" Eu pensei que fosse uma lima velha... Ahh bão, cada uma heim???
Very good
hoping to make my own soon, genuinely curious if you made a rat tail tang anyway, why not use the existing one on the file? just wondering if it's just design and function or some other reason. looks amazing.
Might fine blade my man. Cheers.

Linda, linda maravilhosa , parabéns. Abraços
Tres beau travail ! Merci.
Mashin oil
Lovely work

@@renviluan2842 Great point.
I was thinking that as well. The handle would be stronger if pins would have been added in addition to the adhesive.
a file files to file a file and then files it down so the file becomes a knife made from a file
good job
love it
Verygood perfece
Pisau yang indah , slice tysu please...😍🇮🇩
Muito linda
May i ask why you didn't incorporate the file tange into the desing, was it two thin? Your patern would have worked if you spun it around, i just basically drew it cut it out and put against similar file and it was more practical
What paste did you use
Ficou simplesmente linda
I like it
Porque desperdiciar tanto material

Pergunto: que cola seria essa?
e qual o produto que passa no cabo?
Nice

What kind of glue is this one? And how does it works?
Very good warq
O calor gerado não altera a dureza?
What specific file did you use?
Amazing job well done but I can't understand why you would cut the tang of at one end just to make another one at the other end mmmm but a good job on the nife
longer tang . longer handel
I don't either. Doesn't make sense not to use tang end that's already on the file.
Maby it had structural issues and he wanted one full rectangle to work with
I think he doesn't have specific reasons either 😅
Why bother to cut a new tang when you already had one ?
Why did you make the tang and not use the tang that was already on the file?
a nice knife but it is not made from an old "Datei"(file or data) but from an old "Feile"(file or rasp)
Que presio,,me gusta ría comprar uno
Hi.can I ask you pls what tipe of glue you use for wood handle?
Thanks
I want that one
how much would you charge for that knife?
His arm colour is more white than the knife.😂😂
