I have never been to Africa, I have always wanted to visit Africa (South Africa, to be specific) but after watching one of Tayo Aina's videos about Namibia, that's now my new destination of choice. I really admire Tayo Aina for his concerted effort in showing the ignorant world that Africa isn't a country (it's a CONTINENT), that it's not just wildlife and poverty and that It's not the best country in the world but it's also not the worst. I am STILL wondering why we are bombarded with Western media all the time, no African musicals like High School Musical about romance, they're always about the "Struggle". The only difference is, crime rates in e.g., The Netherlands are not on display as it is for countries in Africa. There are a few 'rules' I am following (also adviced by friends that I met there): (1) stash it, don't flash it, (2) money withdrawal only from atm's inside, (3) not walking back roads or streets, (4) not roaming the streets by foot in the evenings. Many thanks to you, Tayo Aina, for giving Africa a spotlight in this format. I'll highly recommend you also interview the youth who are born and/or raised in the West, and whose ancestral heritage is African. My husband and I have been in Tanzania and Mafia Island, South Afrika, Botswana and two times in Namibia. We even got married in Namibia ;-) In Kalahari Desert at Bagatelle Kalahari Game Ranch. We love Africa, the nature and the animals... It's so special. When we are in Africa we can feel the energy and we can feel that we all come from this continent. Our next trip goes to the Seychelles... Not typical african I think, but we need some island vibes after 3 years of not travelling.
