Celtic Mythology Sleep Stories: the Gods, Cú Chulainn, Táin Bó Cúailnge, Deirdre...

- This soft spoken ASMR video contains stories from Celtic Mythology, taken from Irish Mythology. I tell you about the expansion, decline and revival of ancient Celtic culture, that left its most important marks in the Northwest of Europe, especially in Scotland, Ireland, Wales, Cornwall, the Isle of Man and Britanny.
We will relive colourful stories from the Ulster Cycle: Deirdre and Naoise, the epic of Cú Chulainn including the Cattle Raid of Cooley (Táin Bó Cúailnge), or the appearance of the Morrigan. I will tell you about what we know of some Celtic deities: the Matres, Cernunnos, Taranis, Lugh, Epona...

,
The effort you put into these doesn’t go unrecognised. I hope you know how good your content is sir.
Irish mythology is so underrated. Thank you for taking such a keen interest in our stories!
Thank you for helping with some of the pronunciations! :D
Celtic not irish
@@Joe72399 these are irish stories
@@DemonSlayer_StarDragon to be fair. The stories are all Irish. The myths and cultural references are generally shared all over, but Ireland have luckily managed to hold onto the legends better than the rest, usually because of outside influence.
@@DemonSlayer_StarDragon yes but in this video there are only irish stories
As an Irishman I was concerned with how you'd handle the names. And then you went pronounced Conchobair perfectly, by far the weirdest one, very very well done sir.
French are celts to.
@@ugadugaga4972 the languages aren’t remotely similar
@@namedrop721 Ethnically we're quite similar.
@@staunchy7143 ethnicity doesn’t really mean anything when it comes to language though? also the french aren’t celtic, just the bretons
@@raspberrymuffins402 The sources of the Language are rooted in the Ethnicity, ergo Celtic is primarily an Ethnic identity.
How the HELL does this guy only have 211k subs? Here is one of the best male voices in ASMR, best video production values as innovated and/or co-op’ed, and the content has no parallel, bar none. Complete with time-stamps, c’mon, dammit!
Mister, you are gold. You are the definition of an NFT.
It’s because he took like a 4 year long break from the Chanel a couple years ago
I was a fan of his channel a couple months before he took the break, he had mutch mutch less subscribers than he does today and I remember everyone was always commenting on his videos for him to come back and everybody missed him. Somebody said that he got In touch with the French whisper through Twitter and he said he was thinking about coming back and everyone was super hyped and then he ironically released a video about ghost towns and he’s Ben uploaded every since I’m so glad he came back
As an Irishman, you did a fantastic job with both the research and the narration, the pronunciations were effortless and the way you depicted our tales was as magical as it was enchanting, amazing job and thank you 🙂
As a Irishman and a lover of mythology I thoroughly enjoyed this, thank you.

I kind of hoped one day you'd do a history of Civilisation. Starting from hunter gatherer, to the agricultural revolution, through to the industrial revolution and modern day. Some of my favourite books that dicuss human civilisation and its benefits vs. problems are so interesting and extremely relevant to today's modern problems. Thank you again!
Ohhh yes! 👍
I’d like to hear about the growth of civilisation read in his soft soothing voice too! 🙂
Hunter gatherer.... Is that actually what happened tho?
@@trainingwithlukey3308 yeah? For the best part of human history

Looking forward to hearing how you got on learning the Irish words. Brilliantly, I bet!
I don't know, the Irish lived up to their reputation and were really nice and helpful, and then I did the best I could 🙈
@@TheFrenchWhispererASMR I am Irish and I can say you did a good job at pronouncing Irish names.
Of course your accent was the same but that's what makes you so nice to listen to.

Never clicked so fast. I’m not too knowledgeable on the mythology of my homeland, but I’ve been looking forward to this since you put up that community post! Glad your covering it cus I know it’ll be high quality as always. Thanks again from Ireland my french friend :) ❤️🇮🇪🇫🇷
Are you proud of your history now? 😊
🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪🇫🇷🇫🇷🇫🇷!!!.
The Legend of Cu Chulainn was a childhood favourite of mine (still is), it's a grand inspiration for young Irish boys that make them proud of their homeland, as am I. Your channel, and these powerful mythologies are highly underrated, I think they certainly deserve a lot more attention. Thank you for retelling these stories.
It's 6am and Autumn dark here in the Australian bush. I'm going to enjoy this with a cuppa.
Purrfect. 💜
As an Irish woman struggling to sleep tonight, I am so happy I found this. Go raibh míle maith agat mo chara x
You should try exploring Welsh mythology! We don’t really get much media coverage 🤍 it’s difficult to find videos on Arawn, Rhiannon etc
Hell yes bro!
There is a reason for this

Who doesn't love a bedtime story! Bedtime stories for adults. I can feel the knots in my stomach relaxing. I love the little bit of music at the start and then his mesmerizing and soothing voice telling the most interesting story. I fell asleep so fast! I have to start to listen again the next night, where I fell asleep the previous night, in order to hear more of the story! He never makes mistakes. His hands move slowly and his accent is beautiful and easy to understand. He is brilliant!!! This is how an ASMR video should be! Thank you!
it’s how I keep falling asleep the first 5 minutes so I keep coming back to listen to the story lol
✨Brilliant how you capture the essence of your different topics in each of your videos within the asmr framework you created. They’re simultaneously inventive and comfortably familiar. ✨
My heritage is heavily Irish and i always love learning more about Irish mythology and folktales so this was an absolute joy!
I’m a magical faery 🧚♂️
You always post just in time for bed here in Scotland - one of two perfect locations (the other Ireland) in which to watch this particular video.
@Myth Tree I didn't see it! That sounds perfect
My ancestors came from Scotland and Ireland and I grew up hearing these stories! Thank you so much for making this! I love to see my ancestral culture appreciated ❤️
oh my goodness, this video made me tear up a little! hearing the stories my grandparents told me when i was little in ASMR format was so comforting, you put so much effort into setting the scene and getting the names right as well! thank you 💗
Can’t wait to finish this story in two months because I keep falling asleep so fast :)
I'm SO pumped for this! So pumped everytime you post! Could you consider doing some Native American Mythos?
absolute supreme quality as always.
Forever my favorite type of ASMR not only is it soothing to listen to but I’m learning history too.
Wait, so Epona is the Goddess of Horses. Epona is the name of Link’s horse in the Legend of Zelda. I see what you did there, Nintendo.
Your voice was born to narrate, share stories and/or tumble into tales by the campfire light.
Sooooo soothing, my friend.
But what sets you above most others is your decision to bring your hands into play whilst you speak. It is, as I’m sure you know, a very good decision. Watching the nearly-hypnotic movement of your strong hands with long fingers as they move in the rhythm of your speech. Brilliant and very effective and I believe..... eyes close and head drops....thud.
You choose the best subjects. Thanks for doing what you do.
I sincerely hope that you will do more Irish Mythology (and Celtic from other areas) recordings. I was pleasantly surprised with the pronunciations, and rather enjoyed how you chose to put everything together. I have listened to this recording many times, and would do so with any other similar ones.
As always, thank you for the work and time that you put into these.
Your voice never fails to relax. Thank you for all of the hard work you put into your videos
You have a calming voice, but what I really love about your website is how you expand all of our knowledge.
You are an absolute legend. Keep doing what you're doing man.
I am so ready to listen a soon as I am done working. I needed this today; thank you!
Another beautiful sweet dream from our favorite ASMRist 🌹thank you for keeping us sane.
FINALLY! Celtic mythology ASMR! Thank youuuuuu
Bualadh bos! 👏. These stories take me back to my childhood fadó, fadó (a long time ago)
Thank you so much for all these videos. I love them and listen almost every night!
Awesome, Awesome, AWESOME! I was following you back years and years ago and to see you come back from hiatus and now approaching a quarter of a million subscribers is fantastic!
You are very deserving of your success mate!
Another great video! i love the slow visual ASMR you always do in your videos, brushing and polishing items, etc. makes me so relaxed when combined with the stories!
A recommendation might be a video on Sir John Franklin's Lost Arctic Expedition including 128 brave souls and the ships HMS Erebus and HMS Terror. Truly a thrilling tale.
I actually included it in a compilation of mystery stories, like 2 years ago. It's called "American Mystery Stories".
I am seventy years when my three sons were very young 🌱 used to read them these the children version now I am older and listening to your version as the younger say I am loving it thank you
After a 12 hour day, you have no idea how excited I am to be able to lay back and put this on!
I can’t tell you how excited I am for this video! Your videos are always incredibly high quality and detailed, and no matter the subject I always end up listening to the end or until I fall asleep! I’ve learned so much history and culture from you. Thank you so much for putting so much love into your videos, it really shows ☺️
Dude I JUST started really looking into Irish mythology so this is sooo perfect timing wise. Thank you so much for this you’re awesome as always :)

I love the mythology videos so much! Thank you for this! 😊💚
I remember learning these stories in primary school. it’s so cool getting to listen to them again :)
That's it, I'm becoming a Patron. Your stories put me to sleep almost every night. They're so relaxing and fascinating and you even regularly upload, and all with no ads! You even put everything on Spotify! I've never been a Patron for anything, but your channel frickin deserves it. Thank you so much for all the effort you put into your videos. I hope my few bucks help out in some small way.
I love this exploration of mythology! I can't wait to hear more wonderful tales, these videos are incredibly well done 😁😁

When I saw this pop up I actually gasped. So excited to watch this and learn about my ancestors folklore!

What I do is I play your videos alongside the sounds of a crackling campfire and burn a little wood incense. Makes it feel like you are an old lore speaker teaching the young ones the ancient stories as a bed time story around a campfire. Makes for a wonderful atmosphere.
I love the music and storytelling ambience of this video
Well this is just perfect. Merci!
Thank you so much, you are a treasure
I'm so happy!! My Irish heritage thanks you :)
Very relaxing, amazing work! Leaving you my like 👍

This video brought back memories, i remembered learning about the salmon of knowledge and all thise stories from primary school, i never had an intrest in my own countrys mythology but damn this video gave me a spark, thank you very much sir

Oh hell yea. I know for sure I'm on at least 40 days in a row listening as I go to sleep. Keep on man
I heard you for the very first time and i fall asleep immediately. Great voice, great video. Thank you keep going on ☺️
Another excellent video! I always look forward to your new releases!
Also,I would love to hear your take on Beowulf.
It's on my to-do list. People like these mythology videos and they are fun to make, so I will release more in coming months (Beowulf, Gilgamesh, the Aeneid...)
I love hearing my name (Deidra) pronounced properly. This is beautiful.
I saw the title said cu chulainn and immediately thought fate stay night am I alone in that?
Oooh I cannot wait to listen to this later, Cu is one of my favourite mythological heroes
Me too. You might like the beautiful Irish animated film Song of the Sea, one of the characters is a dog named Cu. :)
@@hannahh8696 well Cu Chulainn is so named because he accidentally killed one of the hounds of Chulainn, and ended up taking its place. Or so I've heard from an Irish person. But thank you, I might check that film out
I actually tell the anecdote with the hound in the video.
@@TheFrenchWhispererASMR I assumed you would, I haven't listened to it yet as I'm planning to when I'm trying to sleep
@@randomrio7935 Yep, I think the film named the character after him. :)
Amazing, amazing, amazing content, performance, vocals
Another wonderful video!!
Man you did great with the pronunciation of the Irish names. Far better than I do with my French pronunciation!
