How are you studying at school? I started using Duolingo, another language-learning app and Swedish crime stories for beginners, but some parts of that language are so counter-intuitive to me that it's a bit hard.
@@niklasl3880 I've started with Duolingo as well but while it teaches you words, you don't learn the grammatics which is one of the most important aspects. Now, after a year of studying at university with a native teacher, I'm already at level B1!
im 15 and suffer from insomnia because of PTSD and chronic pain, my dad passed away when i was 10 and this video makes me feel cared for like he did when he read me to sleep, thank you :)
As a Norwegian it pains me to say this, but your voice is so relaxing and your accent in English is just so soothing. Been coming back to this video nearly every night since it came out. Ha en fin dag og fortsett sånn du gjør!🇳🇴🇸🇪💪
What does swedish sound like to Norwegians? As in what kind of vibe does the language have. I know for example Danish is known for sounding very harsh.
@@BigmanDogs Damn that’s a good question. To me Swedish is usually the language that sounds the most harsh/grating, Danish just sounds like you’re speaking Norwegian with something stuck in your throat. Swedish is a bit harder to explain, it just sounds like Swedish. It has a few more words I don’t understand than Danish does. I imagine Portuguese, Italian and Spanish speakers have kind of the same experience when it comes to recognizing eachothers languages. They all sound a bit like just different dialects of your own language.
It’s interesting hearing it in Swedish and seeing the translation as a Dutch speaker. We have many similar words that are pronounced differently but mean the same thing. So I recognise more words than I expected actually.
Cool! Yeah I guess that's the case with German and Swedish too. So for me for example, I can guess the meaning of many German words, but only when they're written, not spoken.
@@ASMRctica lol that’s the same for me in Swedish. Though Swedish pronunciation is more or less doable if you find out how certain letters are pronounced. With Danish however it sounds like gibberish compared to what I read, I really have no clue 😂
Imagine being the writer, completely unaware that in more than 100 years someone will be using your book to do magic (ASMR) on a virtual platform 🤯 This was such a good video, your deep voice is very soothing. I always find foreign languages the most tingly but also loved the translation!
I am laying on my bed listening to this. There is a thunderstorm outside. Distant thunder and soft rain. It feels magical ✨️ like you are a viking of old softly summoning Thor and Odin. Beautiful 😍 ❤🇸🇪🇦🇺
I really appreciate you taking the time to make translations even if I personally did not need them. That must have taken forever! Please read more stories :). These are perfect - Educational and relaxing 😌❤. I also strongly suggest reading swedish tongue twisters 😁. White Winter Whispers did them in Finnish and I would love to hear Swedish ones 😊.
Thank you so much for the feedback! So glad you appreciate it! Yeah it took a while, and I realize I'll definitely not going to translate every video, haha 😅 Cool idea with the tongue twisters! I never watched Winter Whispers, it sounds like a good idea. 😃
This is so great! I'm a massive fan of Nordic mythology. I've just recently read The Poetic Edda in English and have just bought a book of Icelandic Sagas, so this is a fun blend of ASMR and one of my favourite topics! Thanks so much for this! So amazing of you to include English subtitles and translate all of this for us 🥰
Thanks to this wonderful reading, I started a Swedish course here in the Netherlands. I'd always wanted to learn a Scandinavian language, but could never choose which of them. This video and your content in general just made the choice much easier. Thank you so much for all you post, it's equally informative and relaxing :)
yesterday i literally slept in to that video. at first i wanted to read with subtitles but i got so sleepy, i couldn't make me stay awake. thanks for a good sleep!
English, Spanish, Italian, German, French but not Swedish… Yet. It might take me a year or so to learn but it seems very interesting with it’s pronunciations and accents. It’s truly fascinating.
for me who speaks spanish and english, this language is actually really interesting, is totally different for what I've learned from my studies and my native language, its so cool that u translated everything!
First additions in the US are usually seen as rare, and often valuable. It adds to the priceless gift he is offering to us. A reading that we most likely would never otherwise have the opportunity to hear. : + )
Thank you for a beautiful reading of a fascinating mythology, and thank you for the English subtitles as well. I feel like I could learn Swedish by reading along with you enough times. Might even try that...
Fascinating tales. It's funny how these myths are almost comical in some sense. The characters, particularly Thor, have a juvenile lightheartedness about their antics, usually with violent conclusions, but silly nonetheless. Makes you really wonder about the writers and story-tellers that birthed these pieces. But, I love this stuff, so entertaining. Very good video!
Everything about this is so relaxing! I especially love your intro or the first minute of the video, so much in one minute and it’s flawlessly relaxing and well thought out 🙏🏽🤝🏽
This video is great! Many thanks for translating. I'm from the US and have been subscribed to you since your first drawing of the map of Europe all that time ago. Keep up the great work!
This video is of course very relaxing and you obviously put a lot of effort into making it. Everything in this video has been mastered to the highest degree. And the most amazing thing is that you have added subtitles. It's very difficult, but you did it.👏
First of all, mad respect for translating this entire thing. Second of all, as a German it’s pleasantly surprising how many words I can understand without knowing a thing about Swedish, I didn’t think our language was that similar because they’re so much further north! Danke Bruder, mach weiter so!
I'd like to say that this is my third time trying to watch this video... I slept even before you started reading it 😅 I remember stopping around 2:40 at both times lol. You take "reading for someone to fall asleep" to another level! Love your content, and specially your voice 💓
oh, and btw swedish is one of my favorite languages! swedish and finnish always manage to make me fall asleep, even though they're very different from each other. but i swear I've never slept this quick before with a video hahahah
Thank you for translating everything, you're amazing as always my friend!! Also, keep up the good work, always makes me happy when you upload :) Cheers man.
Youre the one youtuber who really cares about what they do. You translated almost 2 hours of SPOKEN language, just so that we possibly can understand the mythology.
If someone tells me one more time that French is a romantic language and sounds nice, I'll send them this video. I don't understand a word of it, but I've been watching it on repeat. Very relaxing and at the same time sexy voice. I love everything about this video.
This video is an absolute dream come true I've always been super interested in swedish history and mythology as both are deeply intertwined and the language and country itself are both so beautiful and fascinating Thank you so much for making this video it truly helped me calm down and sleep Greetings and love from Germany! ❤️:D Ps: Sometimes I wonder if german and swedish share some distant similarities in the languages because sometimes swedish words are similar to german words and vice versa but also different
Hey, So glad to hear you enjoy this video and these topics :) Yeah, I think German is one of the languages that's easiest for me to understand intuitively, but only when it's written, I think I need more practice to be able to understand spoken german. But it's interesting to see so many similarities in a lot of words.
What you think is irrelevant, because you’re a fkn foreigner. Scandinavia is one. We share the same history, and the same blood. 🇸🇪🇩🇰🇫🇮🇳🇴. Not that you would understand. As I said: you’re a foreigner.
Can’t wait for your reading of the Vinland sagas aka the saga of Erik the red and the Greenlanders which are my favorite sagas other than Loki, Thor and ragnarok
