If follow through is staying on the rifle for 1 second after the shot, how does this affect a bullet that leaves the muzzle after only a couple of thousandths of a second?
If you do not follow thru, or Hold thru as we call it and sometimes continuing to aim, your sub conscience will start to send impulses to set the rifle down before the shot clears the barrel. Holding thru the shot is how you train your subconscious to get a surprise break.
Because failing to follow through, starts the process of lowering the gun, before the pellet has left the gun. Movement at the barrel is therefore seen, either as it is firing, or very soon afterwards... altering the trajectory. Making the conscious decision to NOT move until after a second , post trigger, means you do not start to move before the shot is complete...
In that case the focus should be on a well supported position that relies less on muscle tension rather than simply holding the rifle longer after the shot is gone. My point was working on technique that affects the shot before it is fired rather than after. I think there is greater value in creating a position environment that minimizes opportunity for pre-shot movement.
