Hello, I forget exactly what that folder is for. It sounds like setup files for software or drivers; in which case you can probably delete as everything is installed already. Go inside and check content first.

It's probably fine. If all your programs work okay, then there is nothing to worry about.

i found a tmp.tmp file taking up 35 gb of my disk and i deleted it it was in the roaming folder will it effect my computer any how?
Yes, it will affect your computer in a good way. 😉 If something crucial was using while computer is running, it would not let you do it.

Hello, by mistake i deleted everything in my appdata file (permanently), so now my background is all Black, some of my apps disapeared from the desktop, and i can't enter any app from the shortcut. What would you recomend me to do? Is my pc a goner now?
you just deleted files that are used by applications (that's why this folder is called like that, app(s) data), you just have to reinstall your apps, and for the black background just set up a new one
@@johnnykapiszony56 thank you. I stopped to study a little and discovered that the Appdata is a file from the user, so i just thought: what if i create a new user on my PC? Will it create a New appdata on the New User's file? Guess what? IT WORKED. So now is just time to copy the app data from New User to the Administration User. It's working better than before.

It is interesting that I deleted some programs a long time ago, and their folders remained here, which took up quite a lot of memory. AppData = 75gb, and I wonder where my memory is going, a year ago it was 100 free, now it's 30, but it's not only because of this folder, (I don't want to completely clog the system disk, so I decided to clean it up a bit). Hello, i am gonna ask you about folder in appdata, there is a folder name is microsoft, and the folder have a folder again named is "One Drive". My problem is, the "One drive" folder that have a big capacity almost reach 112 GB, and it will be counting again by the day, because i found that it will make one folder with abstrack name everyday. So, its so disturbing me because of makes a new storage everyday. My question is, can we erase the old folder of it?
What you see there is probably local cached version of OneDrive for faster accessing. Go through the data and see what you are deleting. If it's something you don't need to keep... then you can delete it. However, if you have OneDrive installed and have data inside of OneDrive that is 112GB it will probably just come back even if you delete it.

Probably, but google the file name to see if it's something you need to keep. If not, then you can delete it.

@@harrysandqvist3423 yeah it won't actually,to destroy your system by deleting app daya you need to do that process by using cmd it can not be deleted normally u need to type a one line code
Hi I have Seen your entire video thank you so much but In my PC in Appdata Folder There is a Folder called Packages, It's Quite big capacity like 13gb. Please let me know If I delete that folder any Problem occur to my apps or is it safe. Please this is going to be a big help for me.
Great question. If you delete the folder called Packages it will recreate itself over again but it will be much smaller at first. The reason it gets bigger over time is because of data used by other applications including Windows OS. Deleting it should not break your computer or applications but it may remove custom settings or data used by those applications.
This is what you can try to see if you are okay with deleting it...
1. Create a new local login account for your computer.
2. Login to the new account and test your everyday applications.
3. If everything works okay with the new account, that means you can delete the Packages folder on the old account and delete the new account.

Hello, I accidentally permanently deleted %appdata% thinking it was temp/%temp%. Is there a way to recover it? Remind you it's permanently deleted as in it's no longer in the recycled bin.
If windows restore is active you may be able to restore it by going to folder properties (name of the local profile) and restore previous version of appdata.
I accidently deleted a file on appdata called Intel wild. So idk if it was a huge mistake
It should be in your Recycle bin. But, it's probably okay.

If you have a progam with that name, reinstall it. If you don't have, create a new user and copy that folder in The new user's appdata to your administrator appdata. If the Folder doesn't appear, that means it wasn't important.

If you no longer need to use that program associated with those files/folders then yes.
I just deleted %AppData% files thinking it was %temp%... At least i didn't had any personal important files

@@Cobuman I got a question, is %AppData% and AppData the same files or they are different, because when i deleted the %AppData% first my pc went in a blue screen but later started up without any problems
@@A4zkin...8753 AppData is the same folder for that local profile. There are other AppData folder found in other local profiles. Blue Screen is probably not related.

As long as your programs are working fine. Roaming folder mostly has program settings that are created when you first launch a program.

Hey, don't worry my friend, i got you. I just did that and discover how to take that folder back. Just create a new user and copy that folder from new user appdata to your administrator appdata. It'll be fine

Hey my user folder does not contain app data but it stores things in app data
The app data folder is hidden by default. On top of the windows, you can select view/show hidden files.

@@tomas_4583 CEF is used by some memory maker companies for lock the drive. I would not worry about it.

Probably fine. It's mostly program configuration that is created when you open a program. It will create a new if missing.

Packages folder is 130gb. Can I delete it ?
Packages folder may contain some program data but generally speaking it should be fine to delete. If you decide to do it, do not delete the whole folder, only folders inside of it. Before you do any of that, you can create a new login id for you computer, login to that and open the mostly used programs to make sure that works as a backup login. In the end it's your decision to make.

Yes, appdata is just part of the local profile (for your login id). So, if you create a new login name for your computer it will have its own appdata folder. It is 100% separate from the OS unless you have software specific configuration data for your login profile.

Why do software devs put things in the appdata folder? It's like the game devs putting save files in the my documents folder... they are not documents. They should go in the games install directory.

I would not do that unless you create a new local profile. Still, make sure you back up your data before deleting anything that you need.
