I love this video! You guys really went above and beyond with the info and actual demo here. I just really really wish there was a low r value version of the megamat, something like 2 or 3, or maybe even a cover option with phase change material because it just sleeps so uncomfortably hot.
I was waiting for this sized mat to use in my outback. It fits really well. Much more comfortable than Never Never Bed that was made for Subaru Outback. Exped is not as expensive and feels just like a real bed. When I went backpacking and had to return early to my vehicle with one of the people in our crew because he had injured knee, I ended up sleeping in Subaru using my Exped winter lite down and that was comforable as well. I would recommend finding an Exped for this purpose. Either a Megamat or smaller mat. Exped makes the best pads. I now own 7 of them. 3 ultralite varieties, 3 Megamat singles and one double medium like one in video. Would like to try Megamat lite but am out of money. So maybe next year.
Went "glamping" with this in my Land Rover 2 weeks ago. Worked fantastic. Could be a little wider for my vehicle, but still a fairly perfect fit. Felt like sleeping in a glass hotel under the stars while up in the mountains with the 3 sunroofs and all the windows. Slept like a baby.
Fits perfectly between the wheelwells of midsize pickups with a 6’ bed. Well, I assume all of them, it does in my Colorado. Now, just make the Megamat Max 15 in that size and take our money! I’d like to just have the mat instead of the mat and the 2” memory foam topper that I use now. I sleep on just the mat for simplicity when solo, but my girlfriend has broad hips and a back injury and needs something softer to keep pressure points down on her hips/keep her back straighter (side/belly sleeper). I’m almost sure the 15 would be perfect on its own. An AWFUL lot of people camp in midsize pickups, I can’t imagine they wouldn’t sell like crazy.
I have the original MegaMat (at least I think it’s a first generation). It’s red with grey sided and base. I might have missed it, but I was watching this video, from ExPed “official” as I’m curious if this medium duo will fit in my Redverz Solo tent. I watched this twice and I am kind of amazed that after all this, no one thought to include actual dimensions of anything. Food for Thought. Good Luck.
Great video showing how it fits in most cars we can afford... and prolly drive... it would have been funny if you showed a Maserati or Aston Martin or Bentleys or even Rolls Royce... ect..
Hi Bob. Thank you for your question. We don't recommend using any pumps to inflate EXPED mats besides our Widget pump. Over inflation can cause irreparable damage to mats and the Widget is specifically designed to be low-power in order to not overinflate our mats. Please let us know if you have any additional questions.
@@HarryOsirian Please let us know the interior dimensions of your vehicle, as that will determine whether or not this mattress will fit. The sleeping area in your vehicle should be at least 72" or 183cm long, and no less than 41" or 104cm at its narrowest point for the MegaMat Duo 10 M to fit.
The MegaMat Duo 10 M is 183x105cm (72x41 inches), not to be confused with the single-person MegaMat 10 MW which is 183x65cm (72x.20.5 inches). As for which size is best, it all depends on the interior dimensions of your vehicle ("cramming" the mat between a narrow space should be avoided).
@@JamesYoungAH you could squeeze it into a U shape but would lose some space and comfort, and the mat would not lay flat. The SynMat Duo M would be our recommendation.
From what I could find online, it seems the length from the back of the driver's seat to the rear hatch is ~75", and the width between the 2 rear wheel wells is ~40". Assuming this is the case for your Tiguan, the MegaMat Duo 10 M (72x41") might be just barely too wide, but you should measure your 2021 model just to be sure. While we don’t recommend using the mat in areas where it has frequent rubbing/abrasion against another surface, it is possible to squeeze our mats into spaces that are technically smaller than their dimensions- but with that said, “bending” the sides of the mat does make it harder to fill to full firmness; and it makes the mat more prone to developing a leak in those “bent” or high-friction areas, as they will end up being exposed to more stress and friction than normal.
Hi There! We don't have the exact dimensions for this vehicle but likely the best fit would me the Megamat Duo 10 M. It is 72x41 and fits in several vehicles that would be close in size to the 2021 Outback. We would recommend measuring the internal dimensions of your car to verify that this mat would fit.

The MegaMats hold 330lbs per person. Notably, the reason we say "330 per person" as opposed to "660 lbs total maximum weight" is because how the weight is distributed on the mat makes a difference.
Hi Alex. While we haven't tested the MegaMat Duo 10 M in every vehicle, it will fit in most mid-size vehicles. We encourage you to measure the length of your sleeping area and the narrowest area between your wheel wells and compare it to the dimensions of the mat, which are 72"x41". Please let us know if you have any questions.
Hi there. We don't have the measurements for that specific vehicle. The dimensions of the mat are 72 inches x 41 inches. You'll want to make sure your mat will fit in between your wheel wells.
Because there are different years of the Grand Caravan, we can not provide a single answer. We would recommend measuring the width between the wheel wells and length of your vehicle's available interior space for the dimensions. The measurements for the MegaMat Duo M are 72 x 40.9 x 3.9
scoobygms210 it’s not an air mattress. It’s an open cell foam mattress, part of getting the most out of it is putting a little air in it. These mattresses are specialized to keep the sleepers warm while either sleeping in their car or on the ground while giving them a good amount of comfort for laying on what is pretty much a hard surface.
Then you r a lucky guy because evidently any horizontal surface qualifies as a bed. Getting this for my SUV and 2 nights use vs hotel willhave paid for it.
It’s not an air mattress, it’s infinitely more comfortable and durable than any normal air mattress, as well as being insulated to keep you cool/warm. It also packs smaller and almost completely self-inflates. I paid $3500 for my bed at home, and it was worth every copper cent, so is this.
Compatibility depends on the interior dimensions of the space. If the bed area is longer than 72" and wider than 41", then the MegaMat Duo 10 M will fit.
