    I've had my X2 M35i for two months and it is one of the most fun cars I have ever had. There is nothing I don't like about the car. It all comes down to personal preference, which is why there are so many cars from which to choose - but I just love this car.

      Good to know. Keep enjoying it mate. Yup it's a personal preference without a doubt.

    Sorry my man, your pilot induced oscillations simulating torque steer that doesn't exist clearly illustrates your bias towards this car. I drive this car regularly at HIgh Plains Raceway (Colorado, US) at speeds up to 130mph (210K) and I can testify that BMW has created a new front end differential that virtually eliminates torque steer. Your poorly staged "review" is about as biased as I have ever watched, this car takes me to ski resorts in the winter and rock climbing in the backcountry in the summer. (I track all year long). In addition it towed my 2500lb (1133kg) sailboat across the US and into the Rocky Mountains with no issues.
    The sound system is outstanding and the car is a pleasure to drive long distance and even one time through a tornado in Iowa (US). Perhaps you should open you mind when you do a review, you are critical of virtually everything and you have little positive to say about a pretty slick ride... BTW, you are in a small minority in your analysis...

      Jay nailed it. Reviews are designed to help evaluate new products. Opinions are just that, opinions. Coming from seven years with a Stage II DINAN tune on my 135/M; this little 4-cyc is amazing. My N54 was pushing 384/HP and 420/TQ and definitely would get "squirrelly". My sled had no LSD and right wheel drive, This AWD X2, with newly replaced Michelin AS4s would definitely hold its own against my little fire breather.
      My three year beauty with 40-K on the clock, is still a little sleeper rocket ship.

    You seemed to be waiting to be disappointed. I stay in a hilly part of the country and looked at the M135 hatch however this has more ground clearance in the snow etc so it's better suited . Each to their own.

    As a family man with a young family I want something faster. 1 child and 1 more in planning this would suit my needs well. The handling is to die for. Very punchy for UK roads and its rare you get something SUV sized that handles like an RS3 in corners. I don't find the A pillar a problem if you do then drive a Peugeot for a day I will guarantee you will appreciate the X2 alot more lol. I wouldn't buy one brand new. But approved used for 20k less with under 10k on the clocks £31k isn't a bad price. Wouldn't pay £50k though

    Premium “hatchbacks” don’t sell well in the United States if they’re called a hatchback. So whenever possible, companies call it an SUV. The 1 series isn’t sold in the United States so this is the closest thing and it looks less juvenile. I like it.

    • @DownShiftThrottle

    I’d say it’s the best in its class and not really comparable to the small 1 series.

    In my opinion, the BMW x2 M335i (which i own) is by FAR a roller coaster/go kart in sport mode, 0-60- 3.4 with the stage 1 upgrade (dinan) factory is 4.1 PERIOD:) and its a suv not a hatchback. Compared to the Golf R, Porsche SUV, Mercedes 45, Mustang 5.0/ Roush, this just outclasses and outperforms in all areas! Now it does have a shortcoming, those 20" factory wheels which look incredible, it rides like your on the ground........( SO if you like soft luxury rides, get the S drive 228. If you want to demolish nearly anything on the road, it cannot be beat, IMO....USA

    I do not have one of these, but I find your review immature. Repeatedly launching the car and the making the same statements and restating the same complaints is not a car review. There are some tradeoffs with all cars and you did not even make an effort to do any research. If you want more than 6.6K subscribers (or a female companion), you will need think more broadly than the mindset of a boy-racer from Essex. And, if you turn off the lane departure, you would get rid of some of the steering twitchiness....but that would entail putting a bit of effort into the review.

    • @DownShiftThrottle
      @DownShiftThrottle  2 роки тому

      Very nicely put and thanks for taking the time out to watch the vid. It's a "performance" car so I'm driving it like it's meant to. I'm not from Essex though neither am I after a female companion. I'm quite happy with my subs count. But every view counts.

    A bit of a patchy review with not a lot of factual info - but appreciate the post. I have owned one for a year and I’ll use my 18yr old (petrol head) sons comments to sum it up ‘dad, it’s the only car you’ll ever need’. Meaning I can can drive my family and luggage efficiently over a long distance in ‘eco’. Drive day to day in Standard mode with a decent turn of acceleration when needed and then party with some of the big boys when in Sport +. Granted I saved £20k on list price buying a year old - so perhaps my view is based on owning this car for sub £30k. But I don’t see myself changing it for a while. And by the way - the back end view is one of the best on the road. I simply don’t understand the question - where is this aimed? Answer = it’s for people that want a balance between family practicality and sporty. I could have bought a VW Golf ‘R’ estate but wanted something more interesting and frankly less ugly! Stay safe.

    • @DownShiftThrottle
      @DownShiftThrottle  3 роки тому

      I suppose if you bought one it would make sense to you. To me though.....its a half arse attempt. Its not really a hot hatch nor a Hot SUV. It's a crossover one that ticks a lot of "lifestyle" boxes but I'd rather buy a Gold R estate if I need the space. Each to their own.

      @@DownShiftThrottle these are actually quicker than golf r cars. They grip better. The ‘claimed’ 0-60 is 4.8 but it’s actually 4.2 and we have had ours at 4.13

    • @DownShiftThrottle

      They are definitely quick cars are do handle well. I just find that they're not hugely practical over a M135i (other than taller driving position). I think this cars biggest rival is its sibling - M135i which I think is a better car overall.

    I've just bought one of these coming from a 14 plate 435i M Sport and I'm really enjoying it. The 4 was getting harder to get out of after long journeys as we got older. I miss the low down grunt of the N55, even though the X2 has more torque, its delivery is different but you can adjust to that. I don't get anywhere near the amount of torque steer that you show there, maybe tyre pressures are off? Maybe the LSD needs adjusting. Mine was a bit twitchy on delivery and the tyre pressures were way up on the front and down on the rear. Also I find the rev matching much better on manual downshifts than in my 4, in the 4, if I didn't change down at the sweet spot of around 2200 rpm it would lurch forward, I'm talking when decelerating when approaching an island or junction, when changing down to pass something it was fine. The tech for me is fine as I came from a 14 plate so there is an increase in tech there for me. So far I'm not missing much about the 4, certainly not missing people parking too close because they don't realise how wide the 4 does have to open for you to get in :) Anyway, good review but I think you may have a Friday afternoon Monday morning car there mate. Cheers.

    Its a mini with differnt skin. There's a pretty hefty front-wheel bias, idrive 6 can't be updated, no OTA updates biggest issue BMW has produced a $54,000 USD car and you can't get blind stop detection, even as an option. which is weird because BMW loves putting options on cars at ridulous prices that are available as standard features on virtually any other car. I have one. I'll never own another. The x1, x2 x2 m35i and BMW mini equivalent are parts bin cars..... . BMW wanted to clear out outmoded electronics. Having owned one for a year ( I wanted a TESLA Y but the waiting time was too long, I agree with 100% of what you said regarding the car in all respects. It does have an augmented engine sound... boy racer shit. It was trying to put you back in lane; you didn't turn that option off. The touque steer is atrocious

      @@DownShiftThrottle I owned a C5 Corvette and that turned me firmly against buying any American car that was associated with GM. BMW has come close to being added to my list. I do want to go electric, if for no other reason, you can get performance at a reasonable price. BMW at times has a Rube Goldberg approach to engineering. I'm not going to go near their 1st round of 100 pcnt EVs from them.
