  • This job can be made in about 30 minutes and can save you lots of money by the simple fact that you just grease your dirtbike linkage and swing arm.
    The linkage is one of the most important parts of the bike because is directly responsible for your rear suspension.
    This linkage has 30 hours, but we recommend to grease all bearings of the bike right before you will start for the first time your bike! From the factory, there is grease, but not enough for extreme conditions.
    The grease you should use must be water resistant and we recommend the grease for boat engines and marine use.
    1. REMOVE BOLTS FROM LINKAGE
    2. LIFT REAR WHEEL FOR EASIER BOLT PULL. EVERYTHING SHOULD COME OFF EASY
    3. LAST BOLT SHOULD BE THE ONE THAT HOLDS THE REAR SHOCK
    4. THIS BOLT IS COME OUT IN A SPECIFIC POSITION
    5. USE PLENTY OF LUBRICANT BEFORE YOU REMOVE THE WASHERS AND SPACERS
    6. WITH A FLAT SCREWDRIVER REMOVE THE STOP WASHERS
    7. WITH ZIP TIES SECURE THE SPACERS FROM COMING OUT
    8. REMOVE SPACERS
    9. IF THE INTERIOR IS CLEAN, START PACKING LOTS OF GREASE
    10. INSERT SPACER CAREFULLY
    11. AGAIN, THE MORE GREASE YOU PACK IN, THE BETTER
    12. PUT THE WASHERS BACK AND SECURE THEM WITH ZIP TIES
    13. REPEAT STEPS 8 TO 12
    14. HERE I HAVE MESSED UP THE ROLLER BEARING PINS
    15. CAREFULLY ARANGE THEM BACK
    16. GREASE, GREASE AND MORE GREASE!
    17. IF A ROLLER BEARING PIN IS COMING OUT, MAKE SURE YOU PUT IT IN THE RIGHT PLACE
    18. YES... MORE GREASE!
    19. CAREFULLY SLIDE IN THE SPACER
    20. G R E A S E !!!
    21. INSTALL THE LINKAGE STARTING WITH THE CONNECTING ROD
    22. CONTINUE WITH THE LEVER
    23. LAST STEP, CONNECT THE REAR SHOCK TO LINKAGE
    24. MAKE SURE EVERYTHING MOVES FREELY AND YOU ARE NOT HAVE FREE PLAY IN REAR SWING ARM

    3 years later and this is still good info. Thank you. At 3:02 you can see the missing pin.

      Probably has fallen out... believe-it or not, the bike was sold to a friend, still runs with the 3 years old grease :)))

    Thanks for this, very helpful, my bolts were so tight that I broke a socket trying to get them loosened. Finally got them with a cheater bar.

      That’s not good for the joints, I bet the rear suspension was stiff.

    thanks nice vid , did it easy, 80 hours from new linkage bearings seemed greased ok, t-bone bearings almost dry.

      If you used a good grease, will hold the next 80h for sure.

    Going through this process now. I'm finding it's difficult to remove the bearings. I got all but two bearings out and am heading to the machine shop to have the remaining two pressed out and all of them pressed back in. I planned on just greasing everything up but found that my bearings were beyond greasing, they needed to be replaced (they were rusted really bad). Nice video!

      With a vice and sockets is so, so easy to remove them.

    For anyone else pissed that they can’t clean up the lower shock bearing just like the others, if you get a new lower shock bearing from Factory Links they use the standard design just like the other two. So once replaced you can access it like normal to clean and lube it.

    Why didn’t you do the small bearing in the linkage block? You did two of the three?

    hi. Are you able to remove shock absorber without subframe rasing?

    • @ZonaEnduro
      @ZonaEnduro  4 роки тому

      I think is possible but is not as fast like removing 2 bolts of the subframe.

    I cannot seem to get my bearing seals out any advice for a newbie?

    • @ZonaEnduro
      @ZonaEnduro  7 місяців тому

      Probably they are heavily rusted. My advice is to get new seals, and heat the aluminium before trying to remove them. Use a flat screw driver and or a seal remover tool if you have.

    how about cleaning the bearings and oil seals before lubrication? )), poor performance

    What about the tightening torques?
    I used the factory requested 90 Nm at dog bone and screw broke...

      I go just by hand. Just at the triple clamp I use torque wrench.

    So if some pins are coming out, isn't it the right time to replace the bearing?

    • @ZonaEnduro
      @ZonaEnduro  5 років тому +1

      No, pins will fall even from a new bearing if you are not careful. You need to check if there's free play and wear on the spacers and on the bolts.

      The needles in that part of the linkage are not caged as the others are so they will come out. When I bought my bike and was prepping it, I lost one of those needles and had to replace it.

    • @Borrower1
      @Borrower1 5 років тому

      I just did this & realized that you didn't show the lower shock bearing on the linkage. You have to tap the cups/spacers out from the center to get at the bearing.

      @@ZonaEnduro , i would suggest sliding the sleeve almost all the way out and apply grease then slide it almost all the way out in the other direction and grease the other side. This keeps the bearings from falling out.

    La ce interval de timp trebuie făcută aceasta Operațiune?

    • @ZonaEnduro
      @ZonaEnduro  3 роки тому +2

      Cel putin odată pe an, dar nu mai mult de 100 ore. Cu o întreținere corectă linkage-ul ar trebui sa tine cateva 300-400 ore lejer!

    What about upper shock bearing?

    • @ZonaEnduro
      @ZonaEnduro  5 років тому

      That can be checked also, but is more protected from water than the linkage bearings. Same procedure.

    • @Martinb90
      @Martinb90 5 років тому +1

      If we are referring to the lower shock bearing on the Tri Link, its not the same procedure at all. In order to pull out the Spacers and expose the bearings, you would have to remove the Seals, which makes them useless and in need of replacing. The design is extremely poor and that bearing will be the first to fail due to lack of grease.

    • @ZonaEnduro
      @ZonaEnduro  4 роки тому +2

      @@Martinb90 Yes, indeed. Poor design, but now over 200 hours on it and still no free play and rust. Maybe my AXP Skid plate is doing really good the job. Make sure also your hoses from carburetor are not leaking over the bearings!
