Entropia Universe: What You Don't Know About Looter Professions! Xenobiology + Robotology & Scanning

- caught up with StevieB in the metaverse playing the real cash economy MMORPG Entropia Universe.
Today we want to talk about the Looter professions. Check your skills tab and if you're over level 30 Looter you will have unlocked Xenobiology and Robotology....but I bet you don't have any of those skills!
Both are 2% contribution to their respective looter profession. So why don't we have these skills if we have already unlocked them? Why aren't they growing?
The ONLY way to gain Xenobiology or Robotology skills is to use a scanner!
We could use the Investafoe ES500 with decay of only 0.82 PEC per scan. But we would have to pay almost 3000 PED in mark up to get one. That's $300 USD!
Or we could simply use the Trade Terminal scanners which have the same stats universe wide and a 1.02 PEC per scan cost.
If we look at the decay difference and mark up we would have to pay to get the most eco scanner in game we can see the decay difference would be 1/5th of a PEC per scan. That means we would need to do 1,500,000 scans to save enough money to break even purchasing the Investafoe ES500!
Clearly this makes no sense. We would have to spend a lifetime scanning since we only get one scan attempt per creature! So what can we do to save PED while also scanning and growing our looter skills with these rare skills?
This is a rare case when theory and what we can actually make happen is going to diverge to a small extent. The smartest option is simply to pick up a TT scanner and use it as part of our hunting regiment.
We can use any TT scanner as they all have the same stats: 12 PED TT value, 1.02 PEC decay. We simply purchase one and when we go out to hunt robots (if we want Robotology skills) or animals (if we want Xenobiology skills) we simply pull out the scanner, attempt a scan, hunt, repeat.
I will ONLY be scanning creatures I intend to kill and loot and ONLY when it's a type of creature I want the associated skill for.
There are other scanners we could use: the InvestaFoe 400 which would require 500,000 scans to break even. There's also the Lifescanner line which has horrible stats and is far inferior to the TT scanners.
Also keep in mind that we will gain skills quickly at first and then they will level off and be harder and harder to get meaning it may not make sense to scan at all at some point.
Since these skills only contribute 2% to our looter professions we definitely want to use that to our advantage but at some point it also becomes far less important than other things we can focus on.
ES500 allows you to scan robots without aggro. You don't want to swap out mid-fight. Target a Trooper, hit scan to auto-move your avatar to just outside of its aggro range, it auto-stops just outside aggro and scans, you take two steps back and swap to your LR-35 and kill it, swap back to the ES500, target next victim and hit scan and you will move to the next target and ... repeat. When you understand that the ES500 is also a hunting tool to help manage robot aggro, it is worth every penny. It's like a hook to your victims. The others don't have that range you need.
Guns work the same exact way lol
I think it is important to mention that scanning adds to codex and it unlocks new codex. Might be worth testing to see id higher decay scanners add more to codex than low decay scanners

If you participate in sweat circles, use your scanner for each mob brought in. Use every opportunity to develop this skill, it never hurts to amass skills.
I forgot this part, if you're swunting whatever the mob is on the planet you're on, scan that sucker first. It only takes a second.
@@morgangekkoinentropia1841 yup you can see how much Stamia the Swunt target has compare to your level is how fast you will Swunt them.
I don't think your logic here makes much sense. You don't need to save 3000 PED of decay to justify the cost of that tool.. you start saving PEC from the very first scan you use it. As long as the markup of the item is stable then there is no risk in owning the tool. Buy it, use it and sell it whenever you're done. The beauty of UL items is that markup is not lost.
While I agree on the you can resell it point, I do think there's a opportunity cost point.
How much would you make owning, say, CLDT with that 3000 ped? Say 150 ped/year?
So now you need to save 150 ped in decay per year just to break even vs using a more expensive to use, cheaper to buy, scanner.
Can you do that? Sure, but it's a hell of a lot of scans.
@@joshgould2707 You're absolutely right, but if your goal is to obtain these valuable looter skills then I imagine you value that more than a measly 150 PED per year. You don't need to hold the tool for an entire year.. use it until you're done with it, and then sell it back for CLDts if you care about that small ROI opportunity more than the opportunity to gain valuable looter skills.
Personally, I feel my PED is better off anywhere except CLDts.. because the ROI is so negligible.

[LifeScanner-5] has 60 meter and its MU is less than 30 ped, cheapo alternative to Chikara es400 (60 meter too)
I have the lifescanner 4, scanned fouls and it removed .03-.04 PED from the TT value. But it does have a 50m range vs. 35...I can scan foul without aggro.
All scanners cost more for added range, i use the life scanner 1 or the tt to save some decay.

what about the cheaper UL scanners like the Lifescanner 4 and so on they not that crazy overpriced but still a UL variant to use wich dont need 1.5 mil scans to make up for it
I have used several scanners. The only difference i noticed is that you pay more for the range

There was an interview with an employee that got taken down from youtube cause it shown how the game really works, so basically your skills mean nothing(except the fact that you have to get some of them to equip higher lvl of gear) rest is just placebo.

Whay you are saying about 1.5mill sca s is if you keep it. You can resell it for what you pay when youre done with it
