The biggest misconception is also with the term "vocational school / vocational college," which is not a university in Finland, but it does provide a pathway to apply for universities of applied sciences or universities. In practice, most of those who complete vocational college go on to a university of applied sciences. Meanwhile, the majority of those who graduate from high school go on to a university, and both UAS (Universities of Applied Sciences) and universities are considered institutions of higher education in Finland.

In winter, there are many more tourists in Lapland than local residents. In autumn, tourists from Finland and German-speaking countries arrive. Although there are still quite a few tourists in the summer, the nature is incredibly beautiful then. Imagine the sun not setting at all, shining 24/7. In winter, depending on how far north you are, you might not see the sun for 2 to 52 days. During this time, you can enjoy the Northern Lights and shooting stars.
