It’s a tough decision, but perhaps it’s worth finishing your bachelor’s degree, especially if you enjoy what you’re studying. Are you still far from completing your studies? On the other hand, tuition fees in Finland are rising every year, and the competition among applicants is getting tougher. It all depends on your goals and dreams. This is a polytechnic (university of applied sciences), so you can’t go directly into a master’s program after your bachelor’s; you’ll need at least two years of work experience in the field. However, in a Finnish university, you can apply directly to a master’s program after completing your bachelor’s. Keep in mind, though, that universities typically have slightly higher tuition fees.

I would say that job opportunities in Jyväskylä are quite similar to those in Joensuu. The Helsinki metropolitan area offers the best chances for employment, but I would apply for the jobs listed while studying. These jobs are often flexible, making it easier to get hired if you speak English or know a little Finnish. Jyväskylä is known as a sports city and also has a focus on sports-related studies. The city has a relatively large student population, which means its age structure is quite young.

Joensuu is a bit smaller than Helsinki, and the job market is likely a bit more challenging for everyone. Students tend to work in similar jobs across Finland. If I were a student, I would apply for the jobs on the list, as well as any other interesting positions that happen to be available.

All vocational schools have the same minimum requirement of 85 points. However, even this does not guarantee admission to the program; it only gives you the right to apply for training. 85 points is a relatively low threshold, indicating that you are prepared to complete your studies and quickly learn the Finnish language.

@uninaturalformulae835 I recommend you study a little more English when you are so close to the minimum requirement. Log in to a pen pal program on the internet. In addition, read Magazines and books in English. Watching TV and listening to music will also help you achieve your goals.

I would say that public transportation in the Greater Helsinki area is among the best in Europe. Hoas has more than 10,000 apartments near educational institutions in Helsinki, Vantaa, Espoo and Kauniainen. Otaniemi is popular among students, but I recommend applying primarily near the educational institution.

You're right that it's easier to find a job in the Helsinki metropolitan area. However, finding a place to live is much harder and significantly more expensive than in the provinces. Tuition fees are also often much higher in the capital. Additionally, getting accepted into universities in the provinces is generally much easier. I recommend adding provincial universities as options after Helsinki. If you’re not satisfied with life in the provinces or need better job opportunities, you can always apply for a transfer to a university in Helsinki after a year. It's usually easier to secure a spot through a transfer application.

I ask because different universities have varying opportunities, sometimes tailored to specific groups. Your EU/EEA citizenship status may also affect the tuition fees.

In general, Finland has offered excellent opportunities across various sectors, particularly in technology and innovation. The country has produced internationally recognized innovations in fields such as ICT, computing, gaming, artificial intelligence, and healthcare software. Notable examples include Nokia, Angry Birds, Remedy, Rovio, Supercell’s Clash of Clans, the heart rate monitor, and Linux. I would argue that this sector is one of the most versatile, where employment is possible even with just English language skills. Many specialists have been recruited from abroad, with a significant number coming from India.

A couple of my subscribers have asked to tell me what Lieksa is like. I did my best. Lieksa is known in Finland as a city of loss of migration and as a former industrial city, and a movie or maybe a few have been made there. I forgot to mention earlier that there are some great places for tourists to visit in the city, which I have visited myself. There is a chef training in Lieksa and a baker / confectioner training in the neighboring town Nurmes. However, there is still a message for international students visible on the website. Do you mean at which level of education? Vocational school or university of applied sciences? I’ve mentioned all the vocational schools in my Top 5 video... The university of applied sciences has a lot of engineering studies in English.

Sure, you can, but applying for admission and applying for a study permit are two different things. The school decides if you’re admitted, and the immigration authorities decide if you get a study permit. All conditions must be met. You need to have sufficient funds to cover your living expenses, and bringing your family along significantly increases the required amount.

Several factors can affect this, such as your citizenship and the country and language in which you completed your previous education and qualifications.
