Decent video I'll be doing my 2001 4door 4x4. Wish you'd done the fan also your very good at presenting the water pump itself which has gave me confidence. Thank you have a nice Saturday November 18th
***** I know my 2001 4.3L has a fan that needs to be be removed and the assembly slips when I try to get the nut off. Stuck at step 2. Step 1 is to remove the cowling.
Ken Null NAPA has a loaner tool program and they have a very good tool set which will help you remove the fan clutch assembly What I don't like about this video is that 95% of the 4.3L Chevys have a fan clutch assembly and NOT an Electric Fan. Replacing a water pump is easy...removal of the Fan Clutch is the worst part of the entire job
***** The Video is a bit of a disappointment because you are covering probably less than 5% of the applications on this particular GM Engine. About 95% of all 4.3L GMs have a fan clutch assembly and NOT an Electric Fan This is why I was critical of the video. Replacing a water pump is easy for someone who has mechanical skills and has plenty of prior experience working on cars...but removal of the Fan Clutch is the worst part of the entire job for both a novice and an experienced Shade Tree Mechanic....especially if you don't have the special GM removal tools to assist. Once I knew I needed (and located the specialty tool) the job was simple
Perfect. Rookie question: Could you please name the tools you just used (the particular names that I could search on Amazon or auto store)? And are they all 10mm sockets?
The vehicle in the video has electric fans. To remove the mechanical fan it is best to use a fan clutch removal tool set. These are usually available to rent or borrow from the local parts store.
Such bs how easily everything came of. Once he just slightly wiggled the lower hose and it popped of I verbally said f-you out loud. It took me nearly 30mins to get that sucker off and I nearly destroyed the hose in the process!
+TheShangralaaaa17 I have a Chevy blazer that's been destroyed by dexcool. It turns to sludge and jams your engine. I've been cleaning sludge out of it for three years. Prestone Extended Life is compatible with Blazers, does not burn up at low temperatures, and will not turn to sludge if combined with dexcool.
changed the water pump on my chevy s10 blazer today. was a pain but it was worth it. saved myself $300
As a mechanic, ive watched so many of this guys videos over the years.
I wanted to see him remove the fan assembly! I caught hell removing mine! Lol
Simple. If you know how.
Jeff Baker has a good video, and takes off the FAN....on the right colum

I have a 2007 4.3.... Silverado... It drops water slowly when on... Hope this is the fix...great vid btw
you did not mention anything about putting thread sealant on bolts to keep water from coming out
Haha!!!!! There is no water where the bolts go.
thank u so much sir may God bless u u made look easy keep up the good work
Lol great way to bust some gaskets..
We forgot the fan / clutch removal which requires a 36mm bolt wrench or a large crescent wrench. Can be fun!
Where the heck did the fan assembly disappear to? This video stinks.

+Archangel0804 This year model has an electric fan mounted on the radiator.
The vast majority (like 90%) do NOT have an electric fan installed from the factory.
You don’t have to remove the fan nut on the 4.3 liter Chevys??
Perfect. Rookie question: Could you please name the tools you just used (the particular names that I could search on Amazon or auto store)? And are they all 10mm sockets?
If nobody told you, they are 14mm
nice vid
RTV is not gasket sealer.. it’s gasket maker… gasket tack “high tack” is gasket sealer
How did you get the fan off?

@@AirtexFuelPumps Okay, thank you for replying. You're video was very helpful.
@@AirtexFuelPumps Hahaha!!! Not necessary. A waste of money & time!

you put reg green coolant into a gm vortec engine? oh no. DEXCOOL or nothin
Looks like you'll be doing a video on head gasket replacement next using that same vehicle

lmao not at all
DeX is good if you're on top of your vehicles maintenance. If you're not...DeX is known to eat gaskets.
@@TheShangralaaaa17 Haha!! Wrong!!!
This is definitely not a northern driven vehicle lol
