A magician of counterpoint. In the 16th Century England was at the forefront of world music. What happened? Why were these composers forgotten? By the 19th Century, Englishmen thought of serious music as a foreign thing. Why?

Because they were probably Anglican. The greatest musical talent composed Catholic music and Latin was at least some part of their best works.
