The Temp V powers is butchers biological power. The tumor has a seperate power. Temp V created a tumor and gave butchers powers. When butchers takes compound V to cure himself the tumor soaks it up and gains its own abilities.

Even before the latest episode, I figured the reason the "Real V" didn't work was because the parasitic entity inside butcher had absorbed it instead. Butcher doesn't have any powers, but the parasitic entity inside him does, and it using them to keep it's host alive. It's symbiotic. Butcher needs the tumor, and the tumor needs butcher. Additionally, the parasite has patched onto a section of bullies Psyche that represents bullies ruthless, violent hatred for supers. The part of butcher that does whatever it takes to survive and win. Because that's the side of butcher that is going to allow the parasite to get stronger and dictate what's best for the both of them. The parasite is enabling his evil side and encouraging it because it's the evil side of butcher that's going to fight to stay alive.
Technically if its symbiontic and not harm the host it would be a symbiont not a parasite. But considering its actually cancer that seem to be able to control Butchers mind this relationship isn't symbiontic at all. How does Butcher needs a tumor? It literally kills him. That tumor is a super parasite. Not a symbiont. Parasites usually want to keep their host alive as long as possible. Thats why well adapted pathogens don't kill you, but use you as food.

This was my thought too, her transformation looked extremely gnarly. If we look at her personality and traits, not too far fetched to believe she will become an abomination. Being inside vought tower brought the worse in her, so it's likely going to be an ugly looking power.

@mr.jameson218 not necessarily true. SB and butcher both have fighting experience. SB from the military and butcher from the streets. HL is a powerhouse, but all he really knows how to do is overpower and shoot eye lasers. That's why butcher was able to go toe to toe with him in season 3. HL was physically stronger, but the rage and fight experience butcher has leveled the fight, and having SB allowed them to take over the fight and I think would've won had HL not flew away. Even if UE didn't show up
I love how these powers are becoming more and more like resident evil monsters, billy tendrils, Neumans daughters mouth things and from what we’ve seen so far of Ashley’s with her head looking like it melts. Can’t wait to see what they do next season
I think it's because we are used to seeing Vought branded heroes with pure powers and now V is going wild in the world and a natural part of it we are seeing more biological powers that Vought can't hide anymore. They tested everything, they knew what V could cause because they've already seen it. They just hid it away.

Like Webweaver - they stuck him in a suit and never let him out of it in public. If you're pretty and conventional like Maeve or the Deep, you're a moviestar. Starlight made the Seven whilst there are many stronger heroes than her in the series. If you get weird abilities or have a problematic identity then you end up as Kimiko, Doppleganger, Sage etc.
I wonder what would happen if Butcher injected himself with Temp V again now that the V-Cancer parasite is cooperating with him. The V-Cancer evidently has the power to regenerate Butcher to some degree. So I wonder if it's possible Butcher could juice himself up even more and regain his laser eyes.

With Butcher,Zoe&possibly Ashley getting parasitic like abilities through compound V, I think this means Vought messed up the newest versions of the drug,changing something in the formula that gives the host drastically different results from the older supes.

And when he took Compound V, the parasite got the powers and not Butcher. It's not the compound V that gave butcher a parasite. That comes form TempV. But CompV made the parasite much stronger

Remember the theme that appeared late in the season is forgiveness? I think the reason Butcher's alter ego is evil is because Butcher believes he's actually a bad person and he never forgives himself. Not because his powers are inherently evil. The good part of himself that manifests as his late wife is dormant. As of now but if he's able to move on and fix himself, I think we'll him turning good while retaining the powers.
When he chose not to feed Ryan those drug laced cookies, he came clean to him, that he was a bad man that didn't deserve to raise a kid. And when Mindstorm coma'd him, we also saw how he sees himself - He can't forgive himself for Lenny and just sees himself as another generation of his own dad. Dying a martyr might be the best fate he can reach at this point.

What if Kessler is intentionally harming Butcher so that he would finally relinquish control? The bar scene in Ep. 7 of season 4 ends with Butcher falling unconscious in such a way that Kessler seemingly caused it.
Maybe the cancer has some kind of self consciousness thanks to the Compound V, and it can stop harming Butcher and maybe even heal him in some way. I mean if it kills him, it dies as well, so it makes sense to keep Butcher alive.

Temp V gave Butcher caner(possible super cancer) then taking compound v probably gave him the ability to survive the super cancer unlike the bunny who had the same tentacles at the cost of making the super cancer more unstable and create joe cestler. The cancer is currently working exactly like the venom symbiote. it gives its host all the powers they need to survive but at the cost of bringing the darkest thoughts to life.

Man if I was Ryan this is what I’d definitely do. Pretend to be loyal to Homelander at the same time I’m learning lots of fighting arts and about the weaknesses on the human body. As well as weight lifting to grow my muscles and other stuff to give me amazing endurance. Also I’ll be putting on heavy dense weighted close and pushing myself when I fly. I feel because he’s half human he can actually enhance his abilities by enhancing his body. Something Homelander can’t do because he’s been at max power level for years.
Compound V is a magical substance that defies the laws of physics. If a person is getting super strength from it, they'd have super strength regardless of their body's muscle tone. Supes cannot increase their powers through training, only by taking more V. Extremely strong Supes are not created through training regimens. They're made in labs with frequent doses of V. Ryan already has his powers, and Mallory wanted to teach him how to fight, not increase them.
At this point it'll probably just kill him before he gets a chance to fight Homelander, the constant mix of Temp V and Compound V would likely shut down his organs and brain Starlight already told him before the season 3 finale that constant use of Temp V was turning his and Hughie's brains into swiss cheese which is why Butcher stopped Hughie, and why he himself developed cancer in the first place. If him taking Compound V on top of that resulted in the parasite within him, I can only imagine taking a temporary, experimental, and fatal version of V will just finish him off, likely powering the parasite to the point it rips Butcher apart from within and takes on a form of it's own. Based on the show however, I could see them having Butcher do that and be strong enough to kill Homelander, only to succumb to the Parasite and it becomes the last villain to be killed
I dont think the Virus would actually kill Butcher. The compound V in his system is located in his tumor so if he gets struck with the virus it would kill the tumor and leave him healthy and without powers. I think its possible that this may happen in the last season with butcher and homelander being struck with the virus but Billy survives due to his unique position. Hopefully living to raise Ryan. Its also likely butcher would die in this last season in which case i think Hughie and Annie would adopt Ryan instead.
I think Butcher inherently understands the real issue with Superheroes because he understands his own "evil" as a human. You take a 14 year old kid, tell him he is going to be locked up, given no choice in the matter, and see how he reacts? Especially after he has just spent time with his Father who has opened up that the reason he is the way he is, is because THAT IS WHAT HAPPENED TO HIM. And he deep down doesn't want to become his father. Yet the people saying that they are going to help him, love him, and lead him to not be like that...are the ones threatening to keep him there. It is the ultimate morale dilemma, and that is why Butcher was against Malary doing it and was trying to reason with him. But he saw what any teenager would do. Fight for the freedom. The issue is. He has super powers. And now that Ryan has killed her, he is just going down the same rabbit hole that Butcher himself has. He is hurting the people closest to him. He is watching his "son" become him, the worst part of him, while simultaneously becoming Homelander. The person Butcher hates the most. Because deep down Butcher knows that Homelander is a reflection of the dark side of his own humanity. I think the whole, "Releasing a plague and killing them all," is the equivalent of Butcher, deep down, knowing that if HUMANS cause so much pain/harm to one another, giving them powers just 100x's it. And the ONE person close enough to him to prove that wrong, would be Ryan.... But he just see's a scared little boy who can't make the right decision. Like him leaving his brother with his dad. He keeps looking at the world and wanting to put an end to the arms race. A constant theme even spoken by the future VP, "You hurt me, I hurt you, we keep going." Or all of The Boys being offered, "An out," to "Stop playing the game," to just, "Go be happy." This idea of... the journey is what led Kimiko and Frenchie to meet one another. For Hughey to have met Starlight. For all of these amazing relationships to have happened.... they found their happiness. But they can't leave the thing that is what caused them to meet in the first place. There is quite a bit of theming around Trauma, Abuse, Addiction which leads into scenes of BDSM, Drug Use, Trauma-Bonding just real world dark side of humanity that makes you see the grey areas they are all navigating. Only with super powers, everything is far more explosive/caustic.
This is how Butcher's powers works (copy paste of one of my reddit comment). Also don't forget Butcher's tumour provides him heal factor, he may be able to heal from anything now. And the more he wants to be savage, stronger he is. About Butcher and Kessler, It's like deeply wishing to do stuff for some reasons and not doing it because of the potential repercussions, it will cause stress and daily troubles because you're choking your greatest motivation. His cancer (he probably had before tempV) being on V and into his brain and system, is connected to his mind and able to share his suffering from the chemical effects of holding and coping. The more he copes the more the tumor (despite not being a self conscious being) suffers Butcher's own pain and keep eating him to live. Butcher's now convinced he can't keep his words about Ryan, who's now back to Becka's murderer state and Homelander's blood in his mind, he won't cope anymore. No more inactivity stress, no more holding. Just knowing you will do all the shit you want to do (good or bad doesn't matter) triggers all the chemicals that make you feel good with yourself. Butcher is still Butcher, he just gone through that one bad day again and is done with it. His character is now back to what it was in first season. Remorseless. The tumor being fed with it's favorites shit chemicals, is now "healthy" and life hungry. So is Butcher. I guess the tumor is going to need more and more, because hey it's still a cancer. Pushing Butcher into becoming one of the most cruel supe who lives in the lore...
Yo. What if people who have cancer that take Compound V all get the same sort of Symbiote. Which is why Butcher and Neuman’s daughter both got the same sort of tentacle parasite that can cut straight through the skin of powerful supes. Neuman said when she gave Zoey the V that she was doing it to “protect her” what if she meant protect her….. from cancer. This would be so cool and ironic, that the thing that was once killing the human (cancer) once enhanced with compound V becomes the strongest weapon against the supes
Terrible analysis. Butcher was nearly on par with Homelander's strength when he was on Temp V. And now he's clearly more powerful on the real deal. Starlight and Kimiko didn't dare try anything against Tentacle Butcher for fear they'd be shredded instantly. The laser vision likely won't do much against those things. Maybe Homelander will burn off one or two before Butcher just wraps another around his eyes like he did to Neuman. I predict that Butcher _does_ get the better of Homelander, but Ryan saves Homelander, either with brute force we haven't yet seen or by convincing Butcher to stand down. And if Ryan doesn't kill him, I predict that Soldier Boy hits Butcher with a clean blast, burning the V out of his blood, and shortly thereafter, Butcher succumbs to his tumor. All of this is a moot point, however, if Maeve shows up to tell Butcher she's had his supe baby during her time in hiding. That could also be the catalyst that changes Butcher's mind about supe genocide. Either way, there's no scenario I see in which Homelander is stronger than Butcher at this point. Butcher is the angel of death now, and he's headed in Homelander's direction.

If Butcher had a year or so to train and get use to his temp V powers he could finished Homelander, people kept saying Homelander was able to fight 3 supes but they didn't think that Soldier Boy was weakened form his nuke blast and that Hughie and Butcher haven't had enough time to get use to their powers. Not to mention that Kessler easily ripped Neumann in half and she's the second most powerful supe they've faced
I really enjoy this version of Butcher would love to see him take some temp V to amplify his new abilities with those powers and engage in all out brawl with Homelander and Soldier boy.
I won’t lie, I rooted for this new Butcher. When Ryan killed Grace it made me lose a lot of faith in the boy. He was willing to use a lethal violence just like his father on impulse. I still don’t think it was right to lure Ryan, but the fact that he killed his very own godmother after hugging her just a few minutes before made me think something is really wrong with him. I’ve always had rocky trust with Ryan, since he’s consistently flip flopped between siding with Butcher and Homelander. Even though the Supes have seized power and kidnapped The Boys, I think that this new Butcher is exactly who we need to finish Supes off once and for all. Ending right where it started - with Butcher against Supes. Homelander could barely scrape Neuman with his laser vision but Butcher’s tentacles snapped her in half like a twig. He’s more than an even match with Homelander.

Joe Kessler was an old military buddy who died he said that in the reveal that he was in his head. That's what made it such a shock to Butcher b/c he genuinely thought he was making a plan w/ his old friend while he's actually losing his shit. The tumor fed off his hate for supes (like venom with Spiderman) & is willing to cause a supe genocide which is why it still wants the virus but Neuman was bulletproof, etc. So if the tendrils could hurt her it stands to reason that homelander's durability (cause he's not invulnerability) isn't gonna save him this time but if they go down the venom route each supe he kills could (in theory) bolster his power + now supes are everywhere which tbh would be bad ass to see but that tumor is insane & Butcher cant let it release that virus. #FreeFrenchie #FreeMother'sMilk
This season was the exact opposite of season 3. That season was absolutely fantastic, but the finale sucked so hard it retroactively tainted it. This season kinda sucked at first tbh, but the ending was so good that it more than makes up for it.
Theory: the tentacles are the manifestation of an extra-dimensional entity that gives the humans superpowers. The being is trying to enter the Boys' dimension through the Supes but couldn't until recently because of the Compound V being inadequate for the purpose. Temp V, on the other hand allowed it to manifest as tumors that turn into tentacles. Despite this, temp V being temporary, it was incapable of maintaining the connection which lead to the host's death and that of the tentacles. Then Butcher used Comp V, which allowed his continued survival as well as the tentacles'. It even made itself a human personality from Butcher's memories of his old teammate. Butcher will grow stronger and kill the Supes including Homelander. In the end he'll be completely taken over by the tentacles and become the gateway for the entity.
The fact that butcher did not confront homelander with his new powers but went to spread the virus, makes it somewhat clear that he still does not match homelander’s strength. But honestly supe killing virus in possession of the strongest supe (butcher) would be awesome. So now homelander and the boys both had to stop him. And it makes more sense
Powers reflect the person. His laser vision was due to him being hyper focussed as Homelanders rival and his body adapted powers that would mimic him (my opinion). The new tentacles are the parasites powers, getting jucied up on V. I saw the showrunner say the parasite isn't its own being like venom so its still in essence Butchers powers. The laser vision could probably show up again if he took a second dose, but at this point I think the parasite adapted permanently to over ride the temp V.
I just came up with a theory for the big fight against Homelander. I see Butcher trying to fight and kill HL so Ryan doesn’t have to but upon seeing Billy can’t win and is going to get killed he joins the fight and we see a Billy/Ryan tag team Homelander

I don't think it is a symbiote so much as an aspect of Butcher. The dark aspect. You know, stare into the abyss long enough and the abyss stares back. Beware fighting monsters lest you turn into one. Kessler represents the brutality that has always been within Butcher; his wife represents the lingering elements of humanity. Its basic Jekyll and Hyde stuff. As for the tentacles he had cancer, cancer is mutant cells, temp v ramps everything up to 11, so it made the mutant cells super mutant and the cancer spread. I wouldn't be surprised if he kills Homelander but does something really horrible in the process, realizes what a monster he has become, then asks Ryan or Hughie to finish him off.
yep but butcher still got some power like instant healing and durability cause when the tentacles entered his body he healed too quick unlike the rabbit who died. All the compud V is in the tumor and as joe kessler mentioned (Juice you up) he means its providing more Compound V to billy so he is getting more stronger
I think he got exposure to the supe killing virus and that tentacle is a super virus that accepted butcher as his host, the virus took the form of that "altered ego" as a way to communicate with butcher. Butcher is THE Venom of the Boyz universe, but more twisted....
I think if Butcher would take Compound or Temp-V again, there is a chance the cancer would give way and let Butcher absorb the powers again. Tentacles, Heat Vision, Extreme Strength and Durability. If its Temp-V though it may actually lead to a permanently enhancement of the tentacle's abilities, and of course a temporary activation of Butcher's own abilities. Regardless, I think Season 5 could see Butcher taking either TempV or CompoundV and becoming more of a force of nature than any supe.

I think the only thing that stands now between Homelander and Butcher is Butcher's durability in question. If he's as durable as Homelander, homelander can't do shit against him. Homelander was getting pummeled by Queen Maeve and Soldier Boy. Your making a lot of assumptions about Butchers powers or ability or lack there of. About how he might or might not be able to fight homelander, that the virus might or might not kill him, etc.
After Butchers finishing off Vicky, I guess Hughie will have a problem with Billy now, Vicky was somewhat a friend of Hughie that asked for help and he killed her in front of Zoe. My guess is that next season Hughie might take permaV to fight Butcher but this time he also will get a different set of powers. Like Butcher said before, V ups whats already inside, when Highie was scared and tend to run he got teleportation powers to run faster...but now he is unfazed by blood and a rage is building up inside Hughie, wouldnt be surprised if V bumped up powers based of his canned rage. Hughie taking V might be like a plan for Butcher not to release the virus, since it would be like killing Lenny again. Cancer might take over and Hughie will have no other way but to fight him.
If Homelander cannot lift a plane, then Homelander is about to experience the worst horror of his life from Butcher. The way Homelander got scared and humbled during the Herogasm fight, I'm pretty sure he's about to experience pure horror from Butcher. Unless if the plot armor deviates from my point of view. Butcher is now a different beast though.

Those powers are rapid cell division and the ability to metastasize that pushes right up against the limits of the laws of thermodynamics, you know, like cancer does. He basically has a Deadpool-symbiote inside him that's feeding off his rage and hatred for supes.*

The Temp V powers is butchers biological power. The tumor has a seperate power.
Temp V created a tumor and gave butchers powers. When butchers takes compound V to cure himself the tumor soaks it up and gains its own abilities.
This may mean that Butcher has 2 completely different sets of power. The first is his own due to temp V, and the second is the super tumour's powers.

Even before the latest episode, I figured the reason the "Real V" didn't work was because the parasitic entity inside butcher had absorbed it instead. Butcher doesn't have any powers, but the parasitic entity inside him does, and it using them to keep it's host alive.
It's symbiotic. Butcher needs the tumor, and the tumor needs butcher. Additionally, the parasite has patched onto a section of bullies Psyche that represents bullies ruthless, violent hatred for supers. The part of butcher that does whatever it takes to survive and win. Because that's the side of butcher that is going to allow the parasite to get stronger and dictate what's best for the both of them. The parasite is enabling his evil side and encouraging it because it's the evil side of butcher that's going to fight to stay alive.

I think it's because we are used to seeing Vought branded heroes with pure powers and now V is going wild in the world and a natural part of it we are seeing more biological powers that Vought can't hide anymore. Remember the theme that appeared late in the season is forgiveness? I think the reason Butcher's alter ego is evil is because Butcher believes he's actually a bad person and he never forgives himself. Not because his powers are inherently evil. The good part of himself that manifests as his late wife is dormant. As of now but if he's able to move on and fix himself, I think we'll him turning good while retaining the powers.
When he chose not to feed Ryan those drug laced cookies, he came clean to him, that he was a bad man that didn't deserve to raise a kid. And when Mindstorm coma'd him, we also saw how he sees himself - He can't forgive himself for Lenny and just sees himself as another generation of his own dad. Dying a martyr might be the best fate he can reach at this point.

Compound V is a magical substance that defies the laws of physics. If a person is getting super strength from it, they'd have super strength regardless of their body's muscle tone. Supes cannot increase their powers through training, only by taking more V. Extremely strong Supes are not created through training regimens. They're made in labs with frequent doses of V. Ryan already has his powers, and Mallory wanted to teach him how to fight, not increase them.

At this point it'll probably just kill him before he gets a chance to fight Homelander, the constant mix of Temp V and Compound V would likely shut down his organs and brain
Starlight already told him before the season 3 finale that constant use of Temp V was turning his and Hughie's brains into swiss cheese which is why Butcher stopped Hughie, and why he himself developed cancer in the first place.
If him taking Compound V on top of that resulted in the parasite within him, I can only imagine taking a temporary, experimental, and fatal version of V will just finish him off, likely powering the parasite to the point it rips Butcher apart from within and takes on a form of it's own.
Based on the show however, I could see them having Butcher do that and be strong enough to kill Homelander, only to succumb to the Parasite and it becomes the last villain to be killed

I dont think the Virus would actually kill Butcher. The compound V in his system is located in his tumor so if he gets struck with the virus it would kill the tumor and leave him healthy and without powers. I think its possible that this may happen in the last season with butcher and homelander being struck with the virus but Billy survives due to his unique position. Hopefully living to raise Ryan.
Its also likely butcher would die in this last season in which case i think Hughie and Annie would adopt Ryan instead.

I think Butcher inherently understands the real issue with Superheroes because he understands his own "evil" as a human.

The issue is. He has super powers. And now that Ryan has killed her, he is just going down the same rabbit hole that Butcher himself has. He is hurting the people closest to him. He is watching his "son" become him, the worst part of him, while simultaneously becoming Homelander. The person Butcher hates the most. Because deep down Butcher knows that Homelander is a reflection of the dark side of his own humanity.
I think the whole, "Releasing a plague and killing them all," is the equivalent of Butcher, deep down, knowing that if HUMANS cause so much pain/harm to one another, giving them powers just 100x's it. And the ONE person close enough to him to prove that wrong, would be Ryan.... But he just see's a scared little boy who can't make the right decision. Like him leaving his brother with his dad. He keeps looking at the world and wanting to put an end to the arms race. A constant theme even spoken by the future VP, "You hurt me, I hurt you, we keep going." Or all of The Boys being offered, "An out," to "Stop playing the game," to just, "Go be happy."
This idea of... the journey is what led Kimiko and Frenchie to meet one another.
For Hughey to have met Starlight.
For all of these amazing relationships to have happened.... they found their happiness. But they can't leave the thing that is what caused them to meet in the first place.
There is quite a bit of theming around Trauma, Abuse, Addiction which leads into scenes of BDSM, Drug Use, Trauma-Bonding just real world dark side of humanity that makes you see the grey areas they are all navigating. Only with super powers, everything is far more explosive/caustic.
Hope Butcher will get his season 3 power back.

About Butcher and Kessler, It's like deeply wishing to do stuff for some reasons and not doing it because of the potential repercussions, it will cause stress and daily troubles because you're choking your greatest motivation. His cancer (he probably had before tempV) being on V and into his brain and system, is connected to his mind and able to share his suffering from the chemical effects of holding and coping.
The more he copes the more the tumor (despite not being a self conscious being) suffers Butcher's own pain and keep eating him to live.
Butcher's now convinced he can't keep his words about Ryan, who's now back to Becka's murderer state and Homelander's blood in his mind, he won't cope anymore. No more inactivity stress, no more holding. Just knowing you will do all the shit you want to do (good or bad doesn't matter) triggers all the chemicals that make you feel good with yourself. Butcher is still Butcher, he just gone through that one bad day again and is done with it. His character is now back to what it was in first season. Remorseless.
The tumor being fed with it's favorites shit chemicals, is now "healthy" and life hungry. So is Butcher. I guess the tumor is going to need more and more, because hey it's still a cancer. Pushing Butcher into becoming one of the most cruel supe who lives in the lore...
Yo. What if people who have cancer that take Compound V all get the same sort of Symbiote. Which is why Butcher and Neuman’s daughter both got the same sort of tentacle parasite that can cut straight through the skin of powerful supes. Neuman said when she gave Zoey the V that she was doing it to “protect her” what if she meant protect her….. from cancer.
This would be so cool and ironic, that the thing that was once killing the human (cancer) once enhanced with compound V becomes the strongest weapon against the supes
Terrible analysis. Butcher was nearly on par with Homelander's strength when he was on Temp V. And now he's clearly more powerful on the real deal. Starlight and Kimiko didn't dare try anything against Tentacle Butcher for fear they'd be shredded instantly. The laser vision likely won't do much against those things. Maybe Homelander will burn off one or two before Butcher just wraps another around his eyes like he did to Neuman. I predict that Butcher _does_ get the better of Homelander, but Ryan saves Homelander, either with brute force we haven't yet seen or by convincing Butcher to stand down. And if Ryan doesn't kill him, I predict that Soldier Boy hits Butcher with a clean blast, burning the V out of his blood, and shortly thereafter, Butcher succumbs to his tumor. All of this is a moot point, however, if Maeve shows up to tell Butcher she's had his supe baby during her time in hiding. That could also be the catalyst that changes Butcher's mind about supe genocide. Either way, there's no scenario I see in which Homelander is stronger than Butcher at this point. Butcher is the angel of death now, and he's headed in Homelander's direction.
Agreed. If Butcher had a year or so to train and get use to his temp V powers he could finished Homelander, people kept saying Homelander was able to fight 3 supes but they didn't think that Soldier Boy was weakened form his nuke blast and that Hughie and Butcher haven't had enough time to get use to their powers. Not to mention that Kessler easily ripped Neumann in half and she's the second most powerful supe they've faced

I won’t lie, I rooted for this new Butcher. When Ryan killed Grace it made me lose a lot of faith in the boy. He was willing to use a lethal violence just like his father on impulse. I still don’t think it was right to lure Ryan, but the fact that he killed his very own godmother after hugging her just a few minutes before made me think something is really wrong with him. I’ve always had rocky trust with Ryan, since he’s consistently flip flopped between siding with Butcher and Homelander. Even though the Supes have seized power and kidnapped The Boys, I think that this new Butcher is exactly who we need to finish Supes off once and for all. Ending right where it started - with Butcher against Supes. Homelander could barely scrape Neuman with his laser vision but Butcher’s tentacles snapped her in half like a twig. He’s more than an even match with Homelander.

Joe Kessler was an old military buddy who died he said that in the reveal that he was in his head. That's what made it such a shock to Butcher b/c he genuinely thought he was making a plan w/ his old friend while he's actually losing his shit. The tumor fed off his hate for supes (like venom with Spiderman) & is willing to cause a supe genocide which is why it still wants the virus but Neuman was bulletproof, etc. So if the tendrils could hurt her it stands to reason that homelander's durability (cause he's not invulnerability) isn't gonna save him this time but if they go down the venom route each supe he kills could (in theory) bolster his power + now supes are everywhere which tbh would be bad ass to see but that tumor is insane & Butcher cant let it release that virus. #FreeFrenchie #FreeMother'sMilk
Two last episodes of this season wos so good
This season was the exact opposite of season 3.
That season was absolutely fantastic, but the finale sucked so hard it retroactively tainted it.
This season kinda sucked at first tbh, but the ending was so good that it more than makes up for it.
Theory: the tentacles are the manifestation of an extra-dimensional entity that gives the humans superpowers.
The being is trying to enter the Boys' dimension through the Supes but couldn't until recently because of the Compound V being inadequate for the purpose.
Temp V, on the other hand allowed it to manifest as tumors that turn into tentacles. Despite this, temp V being temporary, it was incapable of maintaining the connection which lead to the host's death and that of the tentacles.
Then Butcher used Comp V, which allowed his continued survival as well as the tentacles'. It even made itself a human personality from Butcher's memories of his old teammate.
Butcher will grow stronger and kill the Supes including Homelander. In the end he'll be completely taken over by the tentacles and become the gateway for the entity.
I don't think they can he's just walking around like the main character for right now

The fact that butcher did not confront homelander with his new powers but went to spread the virus, makes it somewhat clear that he still does not match homelander’s strength. But honestly supe killing virus in possession of the strongest supe (butcher) would be awesome. So now homelander and the boys both had to stop him. And it makes more sense

Powers reflect the person. His laser vision was due to him being hyper focussed as Homelanders rival and his body adapted powers that would mimic him (my opinion). The new tentacles are the parasites powers, getting jucied up on V. I saw the showrunner say the parasite isn't its own being like venom so its still in essence Butchers powers. The laser vision could probably show up again if he took a second dose, but at this point I think the parasite adapted permanently to over ride the temp V.

I don't think it is a symbiote so much as an aspect of Butcher. The dark aspect. You know, stare into the abyss long enough and the abyss stares back. Beware fighting monsters lest you turn into one. Kessler represents the brutality that has always been within Butcher; his wife represents the lingering elements of humanity. Its basic Jekyll and Hyde stuff. As for the tentacles he had cancer, cancer is mutant cells, temp v ramps everything up to 11, so it made the mutant cells super mutant and the cancer spread. I wouldn't be surprised if he kills Homelander but does something really horrible in the process, realizes what a monster he has become, then asks Ryan or Hughie to finish him off.
The powers are not Butcher's.... he has a supe inside of him in the form of V'ed up cancer/tumors.
yep but butcher still got some power like instant healing and durability cause when the tentacles entered his body he healed too quick unlike the rabbit who died. All the compud V is in the tumor and as joe kessler mentioned (Juice you up) he means its providing more Compound V to billy so he is getting more stronger

Homlander use a small force on his lasers, we saw this in season 1 where homlander used on milk.
Because homelander can control the intensity of his heat vision and he wasn't trying to kill Neumann.

I think he got exposure to the supe killing virus and that tentacle is a super virus that accepted butcher as his host, the virus took the form of that "altered ego" as a way to communicate with butcher. Butcher is THE Venom of the Boyz universe, but more twisted....
It pissed me off when he killed Neuman, she could have been a good ally.
I think if Butcher would take Compound or Temp-V again, there is a chance the cancer would give way and let Butcher absorb the powers again. Tentacles, Heat Vision, Extreme Strength and Durability.
If its Temp-V though it may actually lead to a permanently enhancement of the tentacle's abilities, and of course a temporary activation of Butcher's own abilities.
Regardless, I think Season 5 could see Butcher taking either TempV or CompoundV and becoming more of a force of nature than any supe.

So I think the tumor is sentient in some way, manifesting from Butcher’s hatred for Supes. Due to this, the tumor begins to slowly kill him, taking the form of Joe, attempting to get Butcher to fall into the desire to kill all Supes. Eventually, when Butcher does, the tumor stops killing him, and thus a sort of symbiotic relationship formed from Supe hate was born.

I think the only thing that stands now between Homelander and Butcher is Butcher's durability in question. If he's as durable as Homelander, homelander can't do shit against him. Homelander was getting pummeled by Queen Maeve and Soldier Boy. The way he ripped Neuman in half, it looked effortless and considering how bullets and other weapons don't hurt her at all, this solidifies the argument that Butcher is as strong as any other supe including Homelander. Imagine Homelander trying to fly away and Butcher grabs him with the tentacles on air and pummels him around. It will do so much damage to Homelander, especially his ego.
If homelanders lasers cant harm Nueman, then Billys tentacles are STRONG STRONG.

Out of love for Kimiko and Starlight, Frenchie tweaked the virus to not kill, but just attack all the compound V and take away their powers. This is the only way Butcher can be saved from the tumor. If he still has the tumor, he shouldn’t be Ryan’s dad

About how he might or might not be able to fight homelander, that the virus might or might not kill him, etc.
After Butchers finishing off Vicky, I guess Hughie will have a problem with Billy now, Vicky was somewhat a friend of Hughie that asked for help and he killed her in front of Zoe. My guess is that next season Hughie might take permaV to fight Butcher but this time he also will get a different set of powers. Like Butcher said before, V ups whats already inside, when Highie was scared and tend to run he got teleportation powers to run faster...but now he is unfazed by blood and a rage is building up inside Hughie, wouldnt be surprised if V bumped up powers based of his canned rage. Hughie taking V might be like a plan for Butcher not to release the virus, since it would be like killing Lenny again. Cancer might take over and Hughie will have no other way but to fight him.
All I know is that Season 5 is gonna be a Supe slaughter house.

Those powers are rapid cell division and the ability to metastasize that pushes right up against the limits of the laws of thermodynamics, you know, like cancer does. He basically has a Deadpool-symbiote inside him that's feeding off his rage and hatred for supes.*
