just started to use it couple of hours ago and here is your video :) many thanks!!! :)
Hahahaha what a coincidence. I hope all is well. Please keep us updated on what you think about Libre 2
Thanks so much I just got approved for my system and you answered all the questions no one else has.
Thank you so much for the very insightful video. Just a couple of points both to you and to fellow iabetic peeps.
I loved freestyle libre 1. I changed to dexcom due to wanting CGM.
I loved Dexcom when it worked but was flawed with technical issues with lack of Bluetooth connectivity being the main culprit. I have put this down to the fact I use an android phone as opposed to an iPhone... have other android phone users had similar problems?
I love the concept of Freestyle 2 primarily due to its NFC function with the hopeful back up of alarms with low readings from the Bluetooth.
The fact I have to scan to get a number is not much more hassle than having to take my phone out in the first place.
I would be interested to know what your thoughts are? Thanks again for all your help
Thanyou for yur usual clear and helpful description of the changing to the freestyle librie2 and what is the differance totally articulated. I know where
people should come to get straight to the facts. I hope you are keeping well and thank you getting me started a few years back and once again guiding me to the upgrade and things to come. I had a really bad hypo recently so I will set the low blood sugar alarm and follow your instructions. I keep Lift fast acting Glucose shot handt to act.Any other tips and tricks appreciated. Take care Maurice Reid
Can't wait to get my libre 2 so excited for alarm use.
Does anyone know if Libre 2 optional alarms can be setup on Android app, without the reader? I cant find any option in the app settings. I have the latest app from UK playstore and Libre 2 sensor
Very late to the game here - but an awesome video Nerdabetic!!! Been trying out the Libre 2 recently and this helped me figure out several items I was unsure of - thank you thank you! 💙
I for one cannot wait for the next, (next) gen Libre. When I can glance at my apple watch and see my real time BG...... but we have come soooo far since i was diagnosed 25years ago.
Technology is amazing isn't it ! Hope you safe Marc.
I remember taking insulin with a bottle! A nurse way back then always told me this would happen and I'm glad it did.
@@Nerdabetic Sadly the failure rates on the Libre 2 are horrific. Despite the concept being amazing if you are self funding its not a recommended buy
Your videos are great and fun. Thanks so much
Are you for real??? with a low alarm the Libre 2 is a game changer
Possibly the fine detail of looking, panicking and over-treating (Hi, I'm Andy, I over treat my lows) is better than looking, scanning, panicking and over-treating??
You can set it basically so you can treat a low, before you get it.
All I need to know is my low and highs. Anything in between is great. I set my range from 75 to 170. I will tighten it up as I get better at using it.
If a person is sleeping and low, does the alarm go off, or you would need to use reader?
Great videos with just the content I require, keep up the good work.
My nhs clinic has eventually decided to offer me a libre and I await it's delivery, don't know if it's 1 or 2 just yet.
I do quite alot of cycling and like the idea of CGM on my smartwatch, if I'll get myself a miao will the Libre reader continue to work as normal and share my data with the clinic via librelink, this is a requirement of getting it funded
Thank you for your video...one quick question though; Initially, I've set the range 70 and 180 and now I want to change the range but the "reporting settings" is not shown/available from settings. Any ideas how I can change this? Thanks in advance
Nice video. I've been using Libre sensor for past 2 years but I always miss one thing that is alarm. I used to wake up during mid night because of LO glucose level. Suddenly I had to check with my sensor and with finger prick for double sure. Then I have to eat to come back in normal range but this all could not go long. I read many blogs and watch many videos for the CGM device which gives alarms. For last six month I've been using Blucon with my libre sensor which gives me reading every 5 minutes on my phone and watch without scanning my sensor. Most importantly it gives me alarms whenever my glucose goes out of range. I think this is the best combination. I can share my readings with my caregiver and loved ones.
Thanks for the video always look forward to them!
I was just wondering is it just the handset that’s changed and not the actual sensors?
Thanks so much.
Sensor looks exactly the same. No visible difference. The inside is different as it now has Bluetooth. Reader is slightly slimmer but it’s basically the same size as Libre 1 but blue 😁
@@Nerdabetic Where can you put the CGM other than your upper arm
how do you reset the freestyle libre2? I had a sensor fall off and I tried putting on a new sensor and when I scan the new sensor it says "incompatible sensor"
Any apps that you can link to the Libre 2? I downloaded everything to computer to share with health provider. It would be nice though if it also synced on a watch or to an app.
I have freestyle libre 2 it keeps losing the wireless connection as a result keeps giving me incorrect readings. How do you handle that.
Just jumped in here because my 6 year old son was diagnosed with Type 1 a couple of weeks ago and a couple of days ago got Libre 2 - Still getting used to what we need to do - but being a bit techy we're using the iPhone as well as the handset to track things. Impressed so far!
How’s ur son? Same for my 4 year olds:(!!!
Not sure if I missed it, but can you use the originaal 14 day sensors with this, or do you need special ones?
thanks you again for your insight
it is a very small upgrade, but as its at no extra price I guess we will eventually
do you know when the libre 3 will be available?
thanks again good job
@Nerdabetic, the sensor of freestyle libre 2 is the same used in freestyle libre 1?
Do you know if they will include a scan free feature with FreeStyle Libre? Like wireless connextion to intelligent devices like Dexcom do?
I have been using the dexcom g6 cgm for almost 2 years now. It does have the alarms for lo’s and high’s, unlike the libre it DOES tell you what the numbers are. The only down side is that the sensors, (75% of the time) stops before it’s expiration date. Yet, if you contact dexcom they will send it free of charge. I definitely need the alarms with the numbers shown, I am very brittle with sugars being dangerously low as well as high. This is especially crucial when I am sleeping. I just wish the sensor/transmitter was flatter like the libre. I did hear when they come out with the g7 it will be a lot flatter. I do get many signal losses, prematurely stopping (mostly 2-3 days prior). Which means there you go AGAIN changing it out. Sometimes, my sugar is not the same as when I use the finger prick method. Yet, not a 20# number difference, which would mean a big difference in the insulin dosage. Overall, right now this is what works for me, so I have to stay with it. Thank you for sharing all your information with us!
Thanks so much for sharing this! I am also very excited for Dexcom G7 CGM!
@@Nerdabetic What does CGM mean?
@@RSP2B2B glucose continuous meter I believe
@@RSP2B2B CGM stands for Continuous Glucose Monitoring.
I liked the video, good overview, good info. I'm relatively new to CGM world, started one year ago with Libre v1. Hearing people rave about v2, I got myself changed to that and am about to leave v1 behind. Origonally this was an exciting thing to behold. But now I'm wondering if I've been had? It doesnt sound like the difference between v1 and v2 sensors warrants excitement......?? The upside I guess is, living in UK we only have to jump through a couple of hoops (attend a DAFNE course, 5 days) then we get it all for free so not all bad.
Do you need the Freestyle Libre 2 meter to activate or use the Freestyle Libre 2 sensor? Can you activate the sensor with your smartphone? Wondering if it is necessary to buy the meter or can I just use my smartphone.
Can you set it so it just sends an alert to your phone without the beep for low alarm? My daughter is embarrassed of having an alarm go off in class?
I need too know how do you change the battery in the free style libre 2
Great information, appreciate your review and time on this. One question, do I need to buy libre 2 reader if I have android phone and can install Libre Linkapp? Have anyone tested reading using Samsung Galaxy Note 20? Thank you
Mine keeps asking fore a finger glucose test. Is this done on this equipment? It's my sons first day with this equipment. I see it has a port for a test strip.
Hello, I have been looking for a Polish language version of the operating system for a long time, I mean the Polish firmware for Free Style Libre 2. Does anyone know where I can download it and how to reset it?
Is the touchscreen better on this one? I have one coming soon and my libre 1 screen is really bad
Can someone please put the application link to add the freestyle libre 2 application to my cellphone. Thank you in advance.
My Libre II just stopped recharging. Is there a battery that can be replaced?
Thank you for your independent research and videos😃👍
Does this freestyle libre2 works withe the ios app on iphone11
I feel more than dumb, I can't get my phone to sync with the sensor. I installed the app but sensor continues to say its not compatible. Also, I did not get a reader with my sensor package. Is the reader separate?
The NHS (in the uk) is now offering the 2! Very glad because I have always suffered overnight lo's or highs to avoid them. This is gonna make my life soooooo much easier.
Can tell you don't live in Leicestershire!
could someone get FSL2 readings and alarms on a smartwatch without scanning? Does Diabox or Glimp work in Europe?
Just started on the Libre 2 and the alarm keeps going off saying I'm like 62 but when I test myself I'm 77 and have no low symptoms. Not sure how I like this yet. Also, are we supposed to take our BG on this machine vs our machine we've had all along?
I just got mine 🤪 is this compatible with the omnipod or omnipod dash? Thanks
Does the alarm work with mobile users? I've never used my reader in the year I've been using the libre 1.
yes it does if you use libre 2
I like my libra but twice it has went off before I have got it in my arm. What can I do
Is this any good fir type 2 diabetics? Thank you.
Does it require upgraded sensors or do the libre use the same sensors as the original and sre you saying it alarms you of a low without scanning?
Yeah. Sensors for libre 2 are different to libre 1. Have a nice day
Good video, however i may not go for fsl2 as i use fsl1 with a bubble and xdrip. I have more alarms than fsl2 and from what i have read the alarms only work on one device at a time.
I love my libre freestyle. Before I received the reader I paired my smartphone and the app. When I did get the reader three days laterit gave me a message that a previous device was already monitoring it and it couldn't do it. Do I care? Not really because I keep my phone with me all the time and having to keep the reader with me all the time certainly wouldn't be as convenient as using my cell phone.
Is that going to hold true with the libre to that uses Bluetooth? Will it only pair up to the original device that you use and shut out other devices?
@Sinister 1 I have the Freestyle Libre 2 system and it wont work with the Freestyle link app. Do you know how I can use my phone to scan my Freestyle Libre 2 sensor?
Ciao...my daughter is soon going to get Freestyle 2 , I wanted to know if during the night you must leave the reader on for the alarms to go off or can we turn it off and they will ring just the same? Thank you for your help.
You can leave the reader turned off and the alarms will still work.
Awesome review! I have the original Freestyle Libre 14 day CGM but when the 2 system became available here in the U.S. my endocrinologist sent in stuff for me to get it. It's supposed to arrive in the mail today. I like that it has a Bluetooth and has low / high alarms but it sorta sucks why it doesn't send your glucose number to the reader 😫 the customer service at Freestyle said it would bc asked them. But tbh the customer service isn't the greatest at least here in the U.S. imo. Like when I have a defective sensor my mom dreads calling bc she's on the phone forever bc they ask and repeat the same questions. But I'm still glad to be getting the 2 system for the alarms.
Anyone know if they will be coming out with an app for the 2 system for Android, here in the US?
Also anyone know if the 2 system will automatically send data to my doctors office like my first one on the app it does anyway ?
Thx for the review and made me laugh when you showed the dog, made me happy 😊
@I drive a \/uLva yeah the Freestyle 2 wasn't accurate at all! My doctor had me go back to the original or 1st Freestyle
@I drive a \/uLva the Libre 1 is more accurate then the 2 but when I check my glucose meter it's still as much as 25 lower or higher. Do u know if the dexcom is any better?
Do you need to inject the sensor into the skin or just push it onto the skin? In other words, is there some kind of needle?
Are the libre 2 sensors the same as the 14 day? I have a libre 1 and it just doesn't work. After being in for 12 hrs it shows 90% of my results in range and it sometimes is 60 mg/dl off. (I'm in the US so around 3.5 mmol off). Abbott just said some people have autoimmune responses to the sensors. I think I need to try dexcom but it would be nice if the new system worked.
Ive used libre since February 2020, no problem in readings until my last sensor, called Abbot and got the full deal on delays and healing and when/how to check accuracy. Basically I figure I had a bad "stick". Most of my arm I can pinch and get a half inch of skin, but that bad stick was a little farther inside and higher than I had put it before (trying so hard to put in a place where I wouldn't bump it). Skin there is very shallow, I can barely pinch 1/4 inch. It hurt most of the time that I wore it and actually removed it a few days early. I think the needle went to deep and the sensor wire was in something that was having a hard time healing with the wire stuck in it. Maybe this is helpful, I hope so.
I am new to this. Can anyone tell me if we need a smart phone to use the reader?
I am new to this. My reading is showing “Hi”, with no number big and in bold. The graph is showing 150 for each reading. Shouldn’t a result number be showing, instead of “Hi” each time?
The touch sensitivity on the screen on the 1 is terrible, is it any better with the 2?
I just got a letter saying I'm betting these sensors instead of 1, I'm using my first sensors with a miaomiao as I prefer a cgm to fgm cause I don't feel hypos and like to see what my bloods are doing every 5 minutes. Will I lose that with the 2?
How do you replace the battery in these?
Thanks for tge review. I'll wait to see what 3 does. I like my original freestyle libre.
what does the spi glass and red drop showing mean
Are the alarms transmitted just after you scan? What is the point of that? Or does the sensor send data to phone/ device continuously? Ie you only have to scan to see the numbers, the alarms are just whether you are heading high of low.
The alarms will sound without you manually scanning them as long as the reader is within range of the sensor, but then you have to actually manually scan to see what the actual number is. I don’t really understand how it can do this yet can’t just display the readings automatically without scanning. Anyway it’s better than nothing but once you acknowledge the alarm, it won’t go off again unless you purposely set a reminder for it to go off again, so if you’re crashing down, it alarms once it goes below your set level and once you clear the alarm you’re on your own. Not very effective.
Really enjoy your videos, and wicked sense of humour! Many thanks.
Been using a Libre 1 for about 5 months and like ability to manage my Type 1 so much better (diagnosed >31 years ago) so was eager to get my hands on a Libre 2 purely because of the bluetooth alarm feature. Whilst waiting for the Libre 2 launch in the UK, I have bought a miaomiao which I wear at night for my lack of hypo-awareness.
Like you I am hugely disappointed that the alarms only show the summary and feel that Abbott have lost the plot with this. I wonder how log it will take for Dexcom or another competitor to provide what people with diabetes actually need?
Thanks for your comment Nigel. Glad to hear this!
afaik. it's a regulatory thing. As long as you have to scan the sensor to get the number it's a FGM and not a CGM, which makes it easier to be covered by health insurance for some reason...
I use Libre1 with Ambrosia Blucon. Also, the blucon reactivate my Libre sensor which is best for me.
I am using Libre with BluCon NightRider and love the alarm feature in the LinkBluCon app, it gives me alerts whenever my values go down.
hello what is the program you are using on ipad, can it be used for libre 2?
I use Nightscout ( CGM in the cloud) which is displayed using spike for iPad ( spike-app.com )
Your sense of humor is refreshing!
Does anyone know when this will become available in the UK? Can't find any information anywhere
@J-GO ....i get it for free as I'm in the UK so I'd rather get notified during the night rather than going into hypo then finding out.
Maybe you stop moaning about improvements (which it is) and start actually thanking these people who are looking to help people with diabetes lead a better life
@J-GO why you so angry and negative? Cheer up, there's more to life than smacking your enraged fingers onto a keyboard to complain about how they should do everything you want them to do. You do know that millions go into research for these products yeah. Calm down boomer
Can anyone tell me the Libre2 sensor can use on Libre1 on not?
How do I change the battery.?
I really appreciate your videos. I am currently trying to switch to the freestyle libre 2 system from the 14 day (us models). I am switching because i need a system that has alarms due to episodes of hypoglycemia with unawareness. I can not afford the g6.
I’m in same vote. My insurance doesn’t cover these items so I’m very thankful for freestyle libre because Dexcom is way out of the equation money wise. I’ve been extremely happy with freestyle libre and looking forward to getting the 2
hi... i use libre with miaomiao pared with my smartphone using and xdrip+ to be a really neat views... actually i put nightscout on and know what? it is running great close to a entire year now, plus when i'am really hard in work, just with a headphone in computer, it start song of higher than 170 or lower than 70... this is greate too that had a really high level that i put in 171, because it's default settings are 225, but i trying to go very in range... my main flaws are now when i wakeup and in midnight... i got low in midnight and high when take the break coffe, my doctor say that it is normal and hard to really take off without a pump, but i already use since 5 years old pencils and not like more devices, actually those giantes that looks like a smartphone sticky to me... anyway, i hope g7 and libre 3 does all stuff that my miaomiao and apps like xdrip already does... you know, less devices is even better. I hoppe one day eversense do the full process of get the value and with bluetooth 5.1 or even better tech send to smartphone app all information for 6 months, like the new eversense xl already did, but i not remember right, may eversense need some gluso adjusts, and i never adjust my setup with libre... with i want to prick my finger i get with the olders ways to check glucose, right? plus my blood tests show that i almost enter in pre-diabetic levels, and i had type one more than 20 years now... i love tech and it is better than my dreams could be when i was a child... the only sad part is that this magic just because real after i got adult and had some problems from diabetic itself... you know, 15 years and food are hard to deal properly hehe, but i just had problem because of fear of low levels and live a long time in hyper levels... this is my major fail, then know i want to control best i can
Need help on connecting a Samsung smart phone for monitoring and alarm capabilities. It’s been a struggle, is there an easy way to do this?
Unsure of your location, but I was told by Abbott, I just got my Freestyle 2 this morning, that the currently the apps for Android and Apple are not yet compatible with Libre 2.0. The tech rep could not give me a definitive either.
As always, thanks for the great content. Don't want to burden you but would sincerely appreciate if you can share news about releases in other countries. Waiting for Mexico release....will wait seated as I don't expect anything soon
Thanks so much. Of course :) I will share
So my insurance does not accept Dexcom otherwise I would get it.However i do now own the Freestlye Libre 2 and I use My phone for checking the sugar.I did not buy the little reader I just use my iphone .But my iphone does not give me low glucose warnings can this be enabled ?
I understand. Have you tried :
1. Click on the menu and select the >> Alarms > Low Glucose Alarm
How do you change battery
Just got Libre 2. Like it: Alarms good for night lows. Stayed on. Dr thought they changed the stay put factor. Unfortunately refill gave Libre 14 Day vs 2, and only used 1 Libre 2 sensor.
Can you use phone and the Libre 2 at the same time?.. I.e. if one still takes control measurements with strips
no, you can't
can libre 2 still be read using a mobile phone? can you receive alarms on your phone?
Yes, you can use Librelink app :) it will receive alarms just like the reader.
Hi, which one is more accurate, Dexcom G6 or Fresstyle libre 2?
- Nadia- - I think it depends. Everyone is different and it is very difficult to say... Life is not black sand white. I tested Libre 2 for accuracy in a 4 week testing challenge and i was happy with the results.
Do you know of any companies that make a holder or phone type of case for the reader To protect it from being dropped.
Do you have a getting started video with all the technology available? My daughter (9) just got diagnosed with T1D and I am trying to figure out the technology to manage it.
Hi Sumeet. Thanks for your comment. Do you have any questions that I can help with?
All the best, nerdabetic
I'm in Canada and I wish we could get the reader. So far they keep telling us to download the app and that there is no compatible reader at this time.
What is the slot for in front for
Good job. Any idea if the alarms work at the android mob app or are there only available at the reader?
Yes, alarm work on the Librelink app also. iOS for now and Android soon. I couldn't show this as Libre 2 app is not available in the UK App Store :)
ELLO Nerdabetic :-)
3 Questions PLEASE
#1 Does The Libre 2 Have Cell Phone App Support?
#2 Where Cell Phone Energy Needs to Be Considered,,=This Now having X2 Separate Internal Transmitters Running Continously,
Both NFC + Bluetooth ON Constantly & While Blue Using a Tad bit more energy Then NFC Both Are Draining Your Cell Phone
=> I Cant Logically See Your Average Cell Phone Going //Running More Then 1/2 Day Per Charge? ((Your Take /Finding on THIS?
#3 IF I FIND THAT IT DOES DRAIN My Cell Phones Battery Dead Way To QUICKLY,,. i Wanted To Know If I Could Turn Off The Bluetooth Transmitter end & Still Just Use LIBRE 2 As a Or Like a Original Libre One Off the NFC Leaving Power Draining Bluetooth OFF?
THANK YOU In Advance :-)
If the Libre 2 has built in Bluetooth why would you still need a separate Blutooth transmitter?
This is what i’m wondering, i dont get how it can alarm but doesnt act like a CGM?
Does the Libre 2 itself alert you or the scanner? I am getting one next week right now I have Libre 1 but me and my parents are getting up every house to check but I really want to know this as it will life changing from Libre 1 thanks if anyone had the answer much appreciated 😁
The alarm works on the device that you active the sensor with. If you want low/high alarms on the phone, active sensor with the Librelink app. Hope this answers your question.
@@Nerdabetic ty
Can it be downloaded unto an iPhone 7?
Anyone knows if it flawlessly works with xdrip without a Miao Miao?
Not yet. Developers are working on it though.
Excellent Video, thanks for that. I think Bluetooth was a required update to keep close to competitors. Although the reader device is oboslete. Who needs it really? Once you have a smartphone you're good. The missing glucose value via Bluetooth is really bothering me and the missing integration into Spike or other diabetes apps. I'm happy with the size of the sensor and how long it lasts on the skin.
Thanks. Yes, like I said, competition is great and pushes everything forward. Future is exciting :)
Can I setup alarm in Android app?? I only use my phone to read freestyle Libre..
Librelink app for Libre 2 works for iOS and Android :)
is the sensor interchangeable between model 1 and 2 ?
No. Sensors are different and you can’t use Libre 1 sensor with Libre 2 reader
Thanks so much for your videos, especially this one! I'm now on my 2nd Libre2 and am finding it very helpful for my diabetes management. Yes it would be better to have a real-time CGM view but as I'm ridiculously obsessed with my numbers anyway (recently achieved 100% TIT and so proud, I've have diabetes for 33 years) it would probably tip my mental health over the edge :-)
Brilliant. I've been a type 1 for 37 years and totally get what you're saying.
The commercial is portrayed WRONG THEY LET THE REading in front not the back!
What do I do if my sensor falls out
Please, is there any one can advice me how can I get Freestyle liber 2 for my son has 4 years old? Thanks
Hi. So this depends on your countries availability of Libre 2 for children.
@@Nerdabetic I am from Algeria, I know it is not available in my country, but I am looking for some one how can help me to getting this device form outside of my country. thanks
I was hoping to find out some information about the sensor you use with FL2. Is it still 14 days rotation?
Yes
Just switched to Dexcom. Love the continuous monitoring hate the alarms. Love the Libre for the 14 days, hope they say it can go on more than just the arms. Also to me the charting on the Libre is easier to understand and the Dexcom sensors stop working before the 10 days. Love your videos.
Thanks for your feedback! ( you can turn off alarms on Dexcom )
When you download the app, it asks for NFC to be put on the yellow app or the sensor won't work. But then goes straight to payment options on my Samsung A52. I asked customer service and lady said it is my mobile charging me, not the company. So not knowing the charges cannot use the system. Customer service couldn't help me at all today.😢
Are you still using the closed loop with ryley link and omnipod ?
Yeah I am using an omnipod with closed loop 😃😃
Having just the low high warning is a definite plus for driving and general safety, but an audible alarm is not going to wake me up while I hypo out in my sleep. I want someone to develop a band with a strong vibrate mech to read the sensor and if I fall under 4mmol just keep buzzing till I press a reset button and use the phone or Libre meter to get an update reading.
I agree
Thank you for your informations. It's a big help for us here in France @@++ ;) :)
Thanks so much. 🙈🙈
But you always have to scan, it doesn't just show you automatically?
So will it alarm you of a low at night without scanning
Yeah it will. No scanning is required for alarms . You need to scan to get your number and arrow. The alarm which is working always will say ‘ low’ but not how low. Hope this makes sense
