Whats up Bj! Hope you doing well my friend! I sharpen free hand since I am 15 years old. Of course i was a amateur and destroyed all Knives from my Mother but I learned a lot. And now people, friends even my Boss give me their Knives to sharpen. Makes me little bit proud hihi. Like your Videos. Thanks for sharing. Greetings from Austria, Europe.

Thanks for this! Can you explain what you were doing with the wooden stick when inserting the blades into the jaws? Is it essentially what others call "heel to tip line" when lining up your blade in the jaw, to avoid widening the bevel at the tip?
    Thanks!

I'm getting the new package they offer with the 100 diamond and I think 3 ceramic stones. It's about $160 or close to it. It should be here today and I'm stoked! I'll eventually get the whole set of diamond stones and strops and possibly lapping films.

thanks for the video. ive had my KME for a few years and love it. always trying to improve. I have a question, between stone changes do you do several upstrokes with your last stone before proceeding to the next? to remove the bur?

My deluxe KME setup will be here tomorrow and I appreciate the tips and tricks in your video.
Quick question- most of the knives I have are very hard steels. S35vn, Delta 3v, etc... should I even mess with Arkansas stones or just stick with the diamond stones then finish with lapping films and/or kangaroo strop?
    Thanks again!

Thanks so much for that. Been messing with cheap Walmart knives so far.
On the tanto how do you handle the difference especially if it is a compound grind?
Do you think the cube is worth the money and are the inclusive angles listed in the paperwork of the knife?

    • @hilltopknivesandgear8103
      @hilltopknivesandgear8103  5 років тому

If it's a standard secondary bevel. Meaning no compound grinds I treat it like 2 separate edges. I first sharpen the long section of the blade. Then the tip portion. But leave the angle guide in the same position.
And to be honest if it was a difficult compound grind I'd probably use my waterstones and take my sweet time.
I definitely use the angle cube. But mostly for a reference.
There's a lot that comes into play with the angles on a kme. A lot of trial and error.
I plan to do some more kme vids.
I might try to record 1 this week. And only cover how I get my angles and what all can change the angles and such.

when flipping my clamp one side has a slight amount of side to side wiggle, is that normal?

Just ordered the deluxe earlier today, but there’s one blade style I’m still concerned with. I have a Benchmade Barrage, which has a swedge on top. I have an inexpensive Lansky that I’ve tried to clamp in multiple times with very little success. Almost every time I *think* I get it secure, halfway into the process I notice it’s moved.. any tricks for that blade style?

I would pay you 5 cents every time you say kangaroo leather in that accent. Lol so great.

For safety, keep both hands behind the blade edge when using the clamp.
