  • Tired of interruptions when you're on a Zoom, Teams or FaceTime video call? Then you need VISI - my 'Video-call Interruptibility Status Indicator'. With a Raspberry Pi Pico, Waveshare LCD1620 back-lit text display and Monk Makes 'Squid LED', my DIY unit uses buttons to switch between 'do not disturb', to 'free to chat', or somewhere in between with appropriate coloured lights.
The video includes all the wiring, construction and MicroPython programming - the ground-work for which is also covered in the full project playlist: • Video-call Interruptib...
(Shout out to Christopher Barnatt's Understanding Computers channel for vital assistance with the MicroPython code for the screen: • Raspberry Pi Pico LCD ... )
Code and wiring schematic are now available on GitHub here: github.com/PaterPracticus/Vid...
**NEW - complete video with revised project including 3D printable case: • Make your own Raspberr... . **

It really is all learnt whilst doing the project - often requiring several head-scratching attempts. I've tried reading 'teach yourself' programming books, but I seem only to be able to process the information when actually involved in something where I can see the practical results. The feeling when the penny finally drops is great!
