(Dreams are messages from the deep)
Who would have thought...? I made these throat-singing sounds for the movie and they are here in so many different forms... amazing!
What! Would never have thought I would find you in the comments of some random sardaukar chant meme😂
@@cooling9953 I'm just having fun being a meme!
@@michaelgeiger4043 If you don't mind me asking a question, are there any words or structure to what you were singing here? Or were you told to improvise?
You should totally do a reaction/commentary video to some of these memes if you enjoy them! Would be really cool to see this meme go full circle!
fancy meeting you here @Michael Geiger
These Sardaukar memes keep getting better
Gengis Khan's genocide x Paul's Jihad crossover when???
Khwarezmshah: *sweats profusely*
Paul already mentioned Genghis Khan in the second book, Dune Messiah. His followers basically said Genghis and Hitler had rookie numbers lmao.
Isn't jihad an islamic holy war?
The second book, Dune Messiah. Might get a movie if the 2nd Dune movie does good.
@@thejusmsajeem4107 jihad generally refers to struggle, under which holy war is included
I can’t wait for Batzorig to cover this!
Will be awesome haha
Long live Batzorig. Iconic.
This feels like it actually would have fit in the final film.
yea like the wide shot of the chaos the jihad has caused over the imperium
I love my UA-cam algorithm. It always knows when I want to see a fresh sardaukar-chant meme
We need The Hu on the next soundtrack. Imagine the Sardaukar's walkout music sounding something like Wolf Totem. Dope edit btw.
This man has big brain
The Hune
even the dead God of Logic would aprove!
...I'll say it: Using any traditional music genre in the OST would be cheap, immersion-breaking and akin to sacrilege.
You might not immediately realize, but one of the best thing about the new Dune is that it didn't contain a single modern cultural reference and all of the memes in it (memes in the original sense) are very, very old.
That minimalist soundtrack that Zimmer made is an integral part of that, of what made the new Dune the thing it is. It wouldn't be half as good with conventional orchestra and any modern music would straight up break the movie. And I say this as a person who loves both classical and metal.
I would not mind if the Hu worked on the OST, but I would hate if they made it metal. ...but it's not like Villeneuve and Zimmer would allow that.
@@Zbyhonj hadn't thought of it that way. I suppose a metal track would throw it off. Honestly though I was thinking more along the lines of traditional instrumentation. And personally I like direct cultural references and representation in sci-fi and fantasy. I think the work the Hu did on the Star Wars soundtrack was great. But thinking about it now there are a few times where direct cultural references in that series wasn't done in good taste. So I can see where you're coming from.
"Genghis Khan... was he of the Sardukar?"
The greatest of them all
Well He would be ruling the Empire now If he was not defeated and cast on to the Salusa Secondus
Is that a Starship troopers book reference?
That scene, lol. "Bring out my favorite history projection, I want to show my friend how much I associate with Hitler. And he didn't even have lasguns."
In fairness, it's a great reflection on contemporary leaders' celebration of Caesar and Alexander the Great, etc.
Certainly behave like one.
This is sardaukar national anthem
Also, Mongolian Gobi desert has death worms :)
May The Algorithm provide you with a million more souls.

There is also Sardinian throat singing (cantu a tenore), idk if there is more
Thats what i wanted

The Hu has entered the chat
It will be totally awesome if they actually made the sardaukars as monggols.. space monggol horde... that would be terrifying
In Mongolia, they believe in giant worms so it fits
Khan commands it
It is done.
Great stuff! Love it!
That is so good! Waiting for the spotify entry to listen to it while working and get some similars!
I'm waiting for people to start didgeridoo covers lol. Nice arrangement!
Thanks!
Karkara use a Digereedoo....they are awesome!
Perfection.
The Music plays.
Babur the turco-mongol advances towards panipat with cannons and muskets.
The best 30 seconds of the whole movie.
All I can say is throat singing is going to catch on ... I wonder what a throat singing version of the Beegees would be like?
Doom Eternal's throat singing was awesome. Sadly the artist, Nature Gangannaigal, passed away young right after his throat singing contribution, making it the last work of his life.
Should check out the Doom Eternal ost
@HUUUUUURRRR actually a lot of throat singers can produce 2-3 notes at the same time. I don't know how large the range of through singers are but I'm sure more creativity to this art style can come the more people learn and develop their skills once introduced
@HUUUUUURRRR Throat singer here. I'll address some confusion there seems to be in the thread.
You can sing different notes, like in any other kind of singing... but you can _also_ adjust the overtones of each note for different combinations.
Perhaps the most common technique is to continuously hold one fundamental note as a drone, while adjusting the overtones, but it's not the only technique. You can also change the fundamental as much as desired.
In fact, changing the fundamental becomes necessary if you want to extend the range, because you're really limited in range with only the overtones of one fundamental.
I've even heard overtone renditions of "Amazing Grace" where the fundamental changes.
@@baconaxolotl A throat (overtone) singer's range can be broken down into two components: the range of their fundamental notes, and their overtone range.
The range of their fundamentals works the same as a regular singer's range. You could say that a singer is a tenor, for example, or that they can sing (fundamental) notes from B2 to C5.
Where overtone singing is unique is in the range of the overtones, which are upper harmonics of the underlying fundamental. An experienced overtone singer can reach up to the 12th harmonic or more, though I've heard that in Mongolia & Tuva they usually don't go beyond the 13th harmonic.
Myself, I'm a bass, and I can sing maybe 7 or 8 distinct harmonics, though I'm not sure which ones they are. (I would have to physically measure the harmonics to find out). The specific harmonics aren't necessarily important when improvising though
@HUUUUUURRRR Sorry but I forgot to mention, changing the fundamental is also necessary for reaching certain harmonics, because which harmonics sound clearly depends on the fundamental being sung.
In my experience the higher harmonics require a higher fundamental to sound clear. (Otherwise they're quite muffled)
Sardaukar Khan
the best scene of that masterpiece movie
this is actually badass
Very enojoyable 💪!!
there is something primal and guttural about the blood and chant that makes it so "appealing"
that is the whole history of humanity I guess, blood and death
This is literally what ancient people heard before being invaded
Thank you algorithm for showing me something this fucking cool

Yeah, I have that old CD by the Gyuto Monks. It was the first thing I thought of when this scene and its original audio track came up. So, the Sardaukar are Buddhists? The priest (?) on the tower's hand gesture are there, too. I know in the novels, the religions of the Dune era are syncretic fusions of Zen, Sunni Islam, Catholicism, etc.; does the choice of audio here reflect that feature?
😲👍
10 hour version when?
Does anyone actually know what he's meant to be saying, like is there any canon language for the Sardaukar?
I know that for the rest of the Sardaukar dialogue David J Peterson was commissioned to give it some grammar, but whether they had him translate something for the tech-priest here I don't know.
Probably is selling them a time share or talking about extended warranties, you know, killing frenzy inducing stuff.
It's not clear. But the "Dreams are messages from the deep" quote from the beginning of the movie is from this. So we know that part
Dune encClopedia calls it Tamashek, but that is not the language in the books... it is a mix of many languages like everything in dune.It has Persian, latin, hindi, and many other elements.
I think it translates rougly to something like "Have you ever heard of NFTs?"
Anyone know what music used here along side the sardaukar chant ?
I composed it especially for the sardaukar chant

Sardaukars are more like turks rather than mongols since their leader is padishah emperor. there is no mongol padishahs. Also the sound technic used in the movie vocally more turkic throatsinging than mongol ones. however nice point to make joke :D
😂
It's not even Mongolian Throat singing though.. it's pretty clearly inspired by Tuvan Throat singing.
ah I mean, its supposed to be a fictional sci-fi human race anyway, they probably got inspiration from multiple thorat singing styles
@@pebble.s you are quite right! Thanks for your comment! I gave an interview about this recently, if you’re interested, here: ua-cam.com/video/Dp1r2vD79PA/v-deo.html

bruh sardaukar are mongolian vikings xD cause they dont look asian at all lol xD
space vikings

Sardaukar are not Mongols, although one tried to imitate the Mongolian singing technique. They are imaginary people. But the Mongols are real!
funny guy you must be at party
@@wolfmensch-productions1097 Sardaukar are soldier-fanatics and prisoners. However the Mongols were free to choose their destiny. Mongols are people of free will. Even Khaan was chosen by the Mongols. So there is no parallel between Mongols and Sardaukar except imitation of the Mongolian singing technique.
