Morissette, in my opinion, I don't think truly intends to make songs "her own". I just think that's simply what happens. She hears notes that aren't there and she puts them in places (of the song) where, perhaps they should have always been but no one else, but she, heard them and has done it. Her choices of placement are sheer perfection. She kept to the song, again in my humble opinion, close enough that we know the song. But the joy, the love of our Lord and Savior in her heart, makes this version even more special and should be the standard from now on. She never stopped smiling, throughout and that shows her faith in Jesus Christ. Now, it seems to me that not a lot of artists, anymore, give credit where it is due and should they do so, then they know a beautiful voice is a God given talent and they should give thanks. Morissette, however, knows this, knows she's been blessed and it's so, so, so wonderful that she chooses to share her extraordinary gift with the rest of the world!!

Also I think you would love Lara Fabian 'Je Suis Malade' and 'Carouso' .
