I was so impressed with the cycle paths in northern italy, in particular the route along the valley from Bormio all the way to Colico at lake Como, beautiful! There was also an amazing one on the med coast Pista Ciclabile della Liguria which uses a bunch of old railway tunnels. If you want a real infra treat, come to the Netherlands!
Yes I was blown away by the cycle ways through the Alps, it seemed like I could put a route into my app anywhere in the Alps and it would put me on a cycle way. Just amazing and so much better than Australia. Thanks for the tips!
Great ride. Doing Nth Italy this September/October this year and can’t decide between lake Garda/Stelvio or go across to lake Como/Majorie….after your vid…Garda/Trento etc looks beautiful. Great series on your trip 👍
Thanks Matt, Yes I'm glad I made the detour to see lake Garda, it was awesome even in poor weather. Well you could always see both lakes and loop around over the Stelvio.
Nice job mate, we’re looking at going back to Europe this spring, and looping from Basel over to the Danube down to Ljubljana and back some how to Andermatt Switzerland. Keen to see where you’re heading. Cheers Conrad & Lee
Thanks mate. Originally I was heading to Salzburg on the Eurovelo 7 before turning back into the Alps but as you will see that plan goes out the window. But yeah I'm definitely going back to ride the west end of the Alps one day. I absolutely loved it.
@@StevosOdysseys nice mate 👍. Last year we rode the EuroVelo 15 from Amsterdam up and back to Zurich for our first taste of bikepacking absolutely loved the alps, Europe is so bike friendly compared to Oz.
Yes it was a big pick me up having the sun come out after setting up and packing up in the rain at my stealth camp and all the other rain days. No rain on the Stelvio either!
hi Steve, glorious instalment. I watched it twice. the emotions Val Venosta (from Merano to Prato allo Stelvio) gives you are unmatched. people there speak German as their first language because no later than 100 years ago those territories were Austria. after First World War Austria found itself among the losers, people in the Sud Tyrol woke up one day and they were told they were Italians. I also find it odd when I'm over there when people offer you "nine" of something and then won't sell it to you, go figure. till the next Ferruccio
Great vid! How good would it be to have those cycle paths in Oz. How many drone batteries do you carry? Seems like you get a lot of shots between charges.
I carry 3 drone batteries and 4 GoPro enduro batteries. I also had 3 usb battery banks. 1 26000 mah, 1 20000 mah and 1 8000 mah. Cameras and batteries were about 3.6 kg.
