Im buying an inner rage shirt.I’m a 48 in the chest so I went up 4 inches and ordered 52 as my arch is not the highest and I have long bench stroke.100 bucks for the rage ain’t to shabby.

Thanks man. After my next meet I’m going to work my bench shirt. I have an inzer denim. Anyone have any experience with that?

Not with the denim personally but it will definitely be essential sizing that right

Sincere question here. What is the point? I understand that you can move bigger weight. But if the goal is power and real strength, wouldn't you want to be benching without the shirt assisting the movement? It would make me wonder how much am I doing and how much is the shirt helping?

Some people might view it differently, but imo it is just to add another layer of complexity to the sport.
Raw powerlifting is, as the name suggests, just raw strength, so the whole sport is just about being stronger than the other competitors, but when you add equipment you not only have to be strong but you also need to learn how to take the most out of your equipment, get stronger in equipped lifting (which also translates to raw most of the time) and you add a lot more options of varying techniques you can use for either getting your competition style bench stronger or just having fun
In a way, it's kinda like customizing a race car but the car is yourself

@@andresao51 your reasoning makes sense. I think I will probably always prefer raw, but have a lot of respect for those getting under that kind of weight. I didn't really think of it that way before, but the car analogy was a good one.

It's for their ego. Real lifters don't use bench shirts.

Humans are weird. Next step, add steel bars and coiled springs to your chest to increase your bench.

The difference is that those decrease the actual felt load, equipped benching just let's you move more weight upwards, the increased weight is still felt by the cns, and is harder to stabilise

I bet you didn't know that shirt benching INCREASES your raw bench..even if you don't like shirts they will still make you stronger 💪.. Remember the lifter is the person who is holding the weight..the shirt at the top doesn't do that for you..if you like to get bigger also ,then at least try the bench shirt cause they can be alot of fun

The shirt is more of a protective mechanism for your shoulders and upper body under heavy load. The shirt doesn't move weight it is all up to the lifter. Using a bench shirt for powerlifting is done for the same reason football players wear pads.
