i did tag along virtually ... cause i'm closeted & i'm busy at the time of my area's pride... oh well maybe next year... till then i'll tag along!
I honestly started to tear up, seeing how many people were there. Even people we’re watching from their apartments, or had pride flags out. The dad hugs! That’s awesome! If you are closeted, these people will be your family gladly.😊
There is so much to take in during the march that I can’t even process how many people are there, it’s sooooo many. And the walk itself lasts for so long. Watching back to edit was such a heartwarming task, seeing how much support there is :’)

GUYS!!!!!! My sister just asked me if I want to go to pride tomorrow!!!!! She said if I go with her into town today we can but face paint and a glitter eyeshadow palette and maybe some other stuff!!!! Like I’m internally screaming rn and just wanted to tell someone!!!!!!

This is so much better than the Mardi Gras here in the States also maybe it’s a cultural difference but here Mardi Gras celebrates the musical jazz history in New Orleans and Pride Parades are separate. Still cool you got to do this.

First off, happy pride. Second the big dog with the pride cape was so cool, i want a mini version. And third as someone who lives in the US, it threw me for split second when you first mardi gras, as over here it refers to the big multi day event in New Orleans.
hahah yes! that was pretty cool. im 99% sure it was the float for Guide Dogs Australia 🦮 💜🌈 yea! in fact, thats where the name comes from! the people who started pride here, as a commemoration for the stonewall riots, and to stop homophobia wanted to call it something that had a 'festival' feel to it! thats my understanding anyway!

Okee, so I guess it happens in Febuary because that's summer in the south of the globe and then you post it in june, which is pride month because that's summer in the north of the globe, right? I'm a little bit slow today :D
That’s exactly it! Mardi Gras was on the 2nd of march this year, it’s celebrated in the summer. And I posted it in June for pride month (but also bc I took ages to edit it)

I have been keeping my eye out for pride events and madi gras to go to for years. And i ALWAYS CHECK like a week after its happened, and i checked like 3 weeks ago and google said it was in like may? IT WAS A WEEK AGO THIS WHOLE TIME?? Im so annoyed istg WHY WONT EARTH LEMME GO TO A PRIDE FESTIVAL:[

Is Galpal still getting surgeries on her foot? I know Mardi Gras Parade was on Saturday the second of march and this footage is from back then just after she had come home to your parent's place, but does she have to go back in for anymore surgeries? I hope you bought her back something nice from Mardi Gras and that you are both up and about and back in your own home now. Not that there is anything wrong in staying with your parents, but I know being in your own place offers a lot more freedom to do whatever you want.
great question, there are no more planned surgeries for galpal thankfully! (hard to say if she will or wont need something in her old age when we get there haha). But yes, we're back home in our own place, and recovery has been going very well!
Hi Lauren, I am 9 mins 35 seconds in and I have a question, Why were people in the paradors arrested in 1978? I didn't know having a parade was illegal. I love a parade whoever is having it.
Great question! i think the short answer is that homosexuality was illegal. the long answer is they were marching to end to discrimination and police harassment of lgbt people (and in commemoration of the stonewall riots that happened in USA). i think they had permission to hold the parade, but then it got revoked and police tried to split them up. homosexuality was a crime in Aus until 1984, so 6 more years of fighting for rights :((((
I don't get it, how could loving someone be against the law, having to fight for the right to love another person, what is wrong with humans? Love is love, people should mind there own business live and let live I say. ❤️

@@laurenelloise Well I am not a big fan of marriage myself, but 2017!!!!! Well Lauren you have really opened my eyes, I had no idea, I knew about the female struggle for equality, but I had no idea about the struggle the LGBT community had just for basic human right's. ❤
i know its so crazy, i remember going to marriage equality rallies in the city before even going to my first pride parade, even then, i remember seeing 'vote yes' signs in the parade! Thankfully now its passed, galpal and I can get married
