- First go at putting a video together with my new DJI Mavic Pro.
Went on a cruise to Grand Turk and Half Moon Cay in the Bahamas and too the Mavic!

I have a cheapy drone ($80AUD, but it holds my Hero4 but has horrific jello). I figured I'll crash this before I lash out on a DJI.
The sea shot is brilliant, well put together, looking forward to seeing more of this. A sub from me, thank you for posting!
Thanks! I didn't have a plan at all I just took a bunch of shots and tried to make sense out of it in editing. Tried to throw it together relatively quickly too because there was a whole facebook group waiting for me to post the video since they liked my still shots so much. So your comment is very nice, thanks!

Grand Turk is in Turks and Caicos :). Even though they are close its a completely different country.
i think he means that it was a different trip to cancun on the same cruise ship

Thanks, you can't fly them on the ship, but certain ports you can.
Yes, I remember when we went on our last cruise we took it on the ship but, yes, only brought it out when allowed. I couldn't imagine trying to fly off the ship. All of that metal, and in motion, wayyyy too much risk. :)

LtDeadeye Honestly thinking back, this was one of my first flights. I think I just set the exposure manually that's it.

what did you have to do in order to bring your drone on the ship and fly it on the island? i'm trying to bring my phantom 3 on the carnival sensation but i'm scared they might not let me
Noah Tran just bring it. It's allowed on the ship, just only flown in certain ports. Just check some info on the ports you are going to.
Did you have any issues taking the Mavic on the Cruise ship?
No, I had it in my carry on backpack with all my other photo gear. You just can't fly them on the ship.

What do you mean? Is there a privacy rule about flying a drone on a ship? I suppose you controlled it from the port then? Shame, I imagine some low shots looking back to the bow under steam would be simply terrific.

nice video but something go wrong with resolution...
Could it be buffering? It's in 1080p/60fps. Working fine on my computer.
No definitely not. It look like like on the one stage of editing movie was reduced to 720p and later it was again interpolated to a bigger resolution or you just used to aggressive rendering options when you were finalising your project.
At what time do you see this change?
Hmm. I kept all the settings the same throughout the importing/editing/and processing phases. Must be you tube. I do see some rendering errors near the end where it keeps going back and forth between what looks like a lower resolution. I'll check the actual video.
Dont shoot on 1080p on mavic, its horrible quality.
minimal resolution is 2.7K for good quality image
How could you make a drone video during your trip? I thought it's forbidden to have a drone with yourself on the deck of a Carnival ship.
istvanilles you are correct. I was almost 3/4 away on the beach 👍
I see, but still not clear how could you board on ship with the drone. :) Beacuse you had to use the ship to get to the beach first. :)
istvanilles Carnival states that drones are allowed on the ship, just not to be flown until you are in authorized ports.
