Put it in water until it stops releasing bubbles (that means it's fully saturated), take out and allow to dry for 30 minutes to an hour, wrap in paper, allow to sit several hours or overnight to mull.
@@customboots I have some quarter inch leather from tandy, would that work for insole or just the sole? Im new and want to learn. By any chance do you teach classes?
@@joejackowski6386 I'm not going to say you can't, but it would be better to use actual sole leather and insole leather. Proper insole leather is especially important if you're doing a welted construction, because the wrong leather can be painfully difficult to stitch. If you choose poorly for sole leather your soles will just wear out quickly, but a good insole is easy to stitch and it conforms to form a footbed for the wearer's foot. I sell an 8 DVD boxed set of my entire boot making class on video, but I don't teach boot making in my studio anymore.
@@customboots thank you for the tip and yes it is hard to sew😉. I'll look for your dvds. I do enjoy watching your you tube channel. Its helped me in a few areas
How did you say the blue wrap you use is called? I have some hearing issues so I struggle to decipher unfamiliar words.
It’s Vet Wrap. Veterinarians use it to wrap animal limbs. You can easily find it by doing an internet search for “vet wrap.”
@@customboots Thanks!
How do you prepare the insole? Just water or is there a solution you use?
