      How do I get this? I have tried 5 times with various emails and it just opens another youtube video and never emails the sheet.

    We have a 24’x48”above ground pool with metal sides & vinyl liner. All I ever add to it before covering it is the winter pill. The water is always crystal clear when we uncover it in the spring. Even if I left a few leaves in it.

      Amazing! That Winter Pill really is an all-in-one miracle for some pool owners. Do you have many 60°F days after it's covered? That's usually when algae becomes a problem.

      @@SwimUniversity yes, we have a tree that hangs over our swimming pool and the leave started falling over a month ago. I will be covering my pool tomorrow. I should have already done it. I’m having the scoop nets full of leaves out several times a day. I live in Central Arkansas. Just outside of Little Rock.

    Very helpful. Turns out I already have it all for my regular pool care. I never knew about the pool pill so thank you for that info. It is something I need.

    Thank you so much for clarifying all these steps, and the type of algaecide I should use. Excellent!

    Great thing about being on well water as we drain the pool 1/4 and I don't have any cover over the winter and then when it's time to open the pool we drain all the nasty winter water and fill it back up and it's easy peasy from there

    You can't see phosphates add it if it's in there the kit is mainly prevention so you have an easier time in the spring it's also usually cheaper.

    What I'd like to know is, do we need the "special" winterizing shock and algaecide that comes in those blue winter kits that cost almost $80? Or can we just use regular shock and algaecide when closing the pool over the winter?

    • @SwimUniversity
      @SwimUniversity  2 роки тому

      Check out the section about algaecide and shock in the video. The shock in the kit is usually a non-chlorine shock (because you can add it when your filter has been turned off). And we recommend using a Polyquat 60 Algaecide. So if you have those things already, you're good to go. But use a chlorine-based shock before you add any closing chemicals.

    Thank you so much for all of these videos, they are so helpful! I was wondering for closing, is this the same method for closing a salt water pool system?

    • @Matt22222
      @Matt22222 2 роки тому +2

      yes. the closing kits and chemicals are the same. same goes for blowing out your plumbing, pumps and filter. the only added step would be to clean and store your salt generator.

    • @SwimUniversity
      @SwimUniversity  2 роки тому

      Yes, it is! Except you'll need to winterize your salt water chlorinator. And test your salt levels before closing. And use a fast-dissolving shock like dichlor or liquid chlorine.

    I don't close my above ground pool, I use it all year round, however I have insulated the outside (with several layers of silvered bubble wrap insulation stuff) so with a little bit of heating once or twice in the winter (I'm in England) it never freezes.

      I have a 32 x 16ft pool. I hate to think how much bubble wrap would cost me, and a heater.

    Great Video! Thanks so much! I have a mesh cover for my in-ground pool, salt pool. I have been using one of those all-in-one pool closing kits. In the springtime my pool has some debris but the water is usually clear. Would you change your recommendations considering I have a mesh cover?

      All you need is Chlorine to close. Then only PH up, Chlorine and chlorine tabs to maintain. Nothing else is necessary.

    I live in south alabama. First year pool. I want to leave it open since winters aren’t terribly bad here. Have been told to run pump from 0001 to around 0600, just during freezing hours, and to keep check on chems. Could you tell me if this is correct?

      Check out our other video about keeping your pool up all year. Also, be sure you have a plan in case the temperature randomly drops (like that recent freeze in Texas) ua-cam.com/video/0mAPr0FEgd4/v-deo.html

    I have a question. This is the 1st time ever owning a pool. This past summer wasn't very enjoyable with the pool cuz of how the previous owners kept it...sry getting off track. I bought a winterizer kit from in the swim and a winterizer pill. Do I add the pill after I do the kit? Will it hurt in anyway if I add the pill after or is that just extra protection? Please help. I have learned so much watching you and without ur videos....I probably would have gotten rid of the pool by now. 1st time I have learned so much and a lot in the beginning was trial and error....but I'm getting a hang of being a pool owner.

    Chlorine is an algecide as well though isn't it? Couldn't I just put 40l of chlorine in my 100k litre in ground pool and cover it? (after the brushing/cleaning step)

    Ok so I'm new to the pool world and have a bestway power steel deluxe series 20' x 48 above ground. I'm in Middle Georgia so we don't really get the snow and stuff. I do NOT want to take this thing down but I am getting so many different information online, my pool groups and even the local store. Is there anyway to speak to someone directly? I have a LARGE child safety locking ladder that is half full of sand and inside full of water plus it's attached to the frame, do I have to remove it? I never got a cover so not sure what to buy and not sure about how much to drain if I have to remove the pump is it just under the hose holes? I only have an inside attachment skimmer too.

    closing a 16x32 inground pool in Toronto,, super chlorinated vacuumed twice ..chlorine at 7- 10 ppm if adding 40% algicide and stain scale remover now does it render the chlorine and algecide and stain preventer ineffective ?

      I’ve closed my pool myself for years with just liquid chlorine. I bump chlorine levels to 7-10ppm the day before and that’s it. Pool water is never green in the spring (Kitchener Ontario 🇨🇦)

    The ONLY things needed to close and maintain pool is PH up or baking soda, liquid chlorine and chlorine tabs. That's ALL. ONLY check PH and Clorine. None of the other products are necessary.
